22-26 December: until when will Studios be available?

OK, so after digesting all the advice I've had today (thanks) I gather that I won't be able to book one reservation (as back up) whilst putting in a Waitlist for a more preferred option for the same dates (due to lack of points leading to unwanted borrowing if the Waitlist comes through).

So, for 22-26 December, I will try to get a monorail Studio at 7 months and Waitlist them if not available (likely).

But how long can I afford to hold out before I just book whatever is available (has to be a Studio) before they are all booked up?

I gather that SSR has the best availability (?) which we would be fine with, but would even that get fully booked at this busy time (which includes Xmas Eve / Christmas Day)?

Why wouldn't you book your home resort at 11 months as a backup?

But - I believe that SSR would almost certainly be available. I believe Poly was on your list on the other thread and that will likely be possible right at 8am at 7 months also. Other monorail resorts will likely be a waitlist although BLT lakeview would be the most likely to be available if anything will be.

To add. When you make a waitlist for a different location such as you are looking at MS would use the points from the room that is being switched out to fill the waitlist. There is an option when you set up the waitlist to indicate if it is to replace a reservation and then askes what resort and what dates.
