I am turning 21 on the 20th..........

So I want to hear your coming of age birthday stories, I know not everyone was 21, I just mean the year you could legally go out. Figure this would be a fun Friday night thread...............................

 I was home with my 3 year old who had an ear infection.

I was engaged - I/we did not do anything crazy or out of the ordinary.

My oldest son went to AC with a few buddies also turning 21.

My second son will be 21 in about two weeks - not sure if he has anything planned. I guess it's hard when your birthday is in January since all your buddies won't turn 21 right away.

Have a Happy Birthday.

OT question - did you receive your new license yet? I don't remember when my oldest received his. It must be a few days before the actual birthday. We sent in the renewal at least a month ago.

Well since I went out well before I was legal to it wasn't really that big of a deal.
Me and dh (dating at the time) went away to the Cape for my 21st birthday. I don't think we made it out to any bars ;)

Happy Birthday!!

I have an interesting story about my 21st.

Day: December 23rd, 2000

I was at the bookstore when a friend from HS that I haven't seen since graduation came up to me and we got to chatting. She asked me if I was 21 and I told her that I would be at midnight and she said that we should go out.
I had nothing planned so I said "sure, why not." She told me it would be 2 of her friends and herself and we would go bar hopping. I was also supposed to spend the night at her friend's house.

So the first place we go to (and the only place) is the elk's club. My friend's ex shows up and they start fighting, the couple we came with is outside fighting, and the bartender refuses to give me a drink until midnight. During this time a 45-year old man is attempting to hit on me! :crazy2:

Ex leaves, couple is still fighting, it finally turns midnight and I hit the alcohol like nobody's business. Old man is now asking me to dance and after awhile we FINALLY leave. We decide to go to Perkins for an early breakfast (old man follows us then gets uber-pissy when he can't sit next to me). Of course my friend tells the server that it's my b-day and the whole restaurant (drunk off their butts) sing "Happy Birthday".

Then friend tells me that the people that we were supposed to be staying with are ex-convicts.

About 20 minutes later, I say that I'm not feeling well and can you take me home please. No problem, they drop me off at my house.

I get my key and open the door. Next thing I hear is "I got a gun and I'll blast your f****** head off" from my dad who thought it was an intruder coming in.

And I went to bed.

OP- may you have a better 21st than I had!

Mine says I don't have to renew until 2010, so I guess I will check into that in a few months

That is an amazing birthday story, I am not kidding! Thank you for the well wishes, I wish yours could have been more enjoyable, but hey you got a great story out of it!

I tried to edit my post to say: have more fun than I did, be safe, and get a designated driver :thumbsup2 But my silly machine froze up.

My son is almost 25 now and finally out grew the ear infections. :)

I am glad to hear that his ears aren't a problem anymore :)

There aren't big drinking plans for the night, as I have 3 classes the next day :teacher: and work 2 jobs. My DBF is going to take me to LongHorn where a good friend bar tends to have her make my first drink. From there Chinese food!!!YUM

I was just looking for a few interesting stories!

drinking age was 18 back then. and i did what everyone did on that birthday. went out and tried to drink 18 shots. dont know if i made it or not. but there were some incredibly funny stories. all of which could get me banned from this site, not to mention some countries.

My 21st was boring.... by then I'd gotten most of my binge drinking out and I had to work the next morning, so I just went out to dinner and ordered a drink, and then went home and to bed.

My brother on the other hand passed out next to the toilet and was discovered by my dad the next morning. I'm kind of sad I wasn't there (and mad at his friends who dropped him off rather than watching him all night to make sure he didn't have alcohol poisoning).

Well. My 21st was last year and it was on a Monday night.

I worked all day. Luckily, I didn't have classes on Monday but my boyfriend did from 7-9:45pm so my parents met up with me for dinner/drinks.

I LOVE to travel and my boyfriend gave me money a few months before my birthday and told me to book a trip the week after finals (May) to wherever I wanted, and could, with that money. It was my birthday present.
I chose Vegas (I'd never been, wanted to go, seemed an appropriate 21st birthday gift, knew he LOVED Vegas and I found a BARGAIN!)
...He asked me if I was interested in marrying him in Vegas on the night of my birthday. :flower3:
We talked about it for another week or so and finally decided to do it!

So he's now my DH. :lovestruc We got married the last night of our trip, May 15.

The next night, I went to a local wing place/bar with my brother and boyfriend/DH and got ID'ed. I work in a bank, which has the same hours as the DMV, so I hadn't gotten my ID renewed yet. The waitress was a witch to me and wouldn't serve me anything on an "expired ID" (even though it says 'Valid for 30 days after expiration' on it)
I said "Fine" and drove home and got my passport, which doesn't expire until 2016. She actually went and got her manager because she couldn't "accept a passport as ID" and her manager told her she was crazy, a passport is a FEDERAL ID and as such even better than a DL and gave me a free drink.
I got evil looks from that waitress for the rest of the night, though! :rotfl:

Ok evil waitress, and you got married, You had a good one to!!!!

Oh my I had a blast on my 21st. I turned 21 Dec 31, 1999. We went out the night before bar hopping. People were just handing me drinks, shots whatever. I dont know how I'm still alive I had so much to drink that night. I honestly dont even remember getting from the last bar to my house and NO I wasn't driving. I remember getting home giving everyone a hug, waking up to Patrick throwing up in my sink. Me then throwing up in the sink next to him (isn't love grand?). My brother then coming down and telling me OD'd on some drugs he needed to get to the hospital ASAP. There was NO way I was driving. He had to wake my parents up. Thankfully he's been clean now for almost 3 years. I had a huge party the next day. I didn't drink a drop. I was so hung over and probably still drunk from the night before.. it was so much fun!

Happy 21st! Have a great birthday and dont drink and drive!

I am very glad you didn't try to drive him!

I went to a Mexican restaurant with two friends and had half a margarita.

Haha that sounds about how much I am going to have

To be honest I really don't like to drink that much. I think alcohol tastes ten kinds of nasty, and by about halfway through the drink that is all I can taste.

I took my special ed licensing exam in November, and all of us in my grad program went on a bar crawl that night with our professors. They were so excited to get me to drink because I just don't. I think I had three drinks that entire night, and that is a lot for me. It was fun seeing my professors drunk.
