Do these normally book up super fast? How many of these members cruises do they do per year? I would def miss this one because I won't be direct yet 😪

Normally about a week or so before booking. They don't want you to see those eye-popping numbers too soon!
Do they usually cost more than a regular cruise with the same itinerary? If so I guess we are paying for all those "freebies" 🤣🤣

White card members are not eligible, right? I know we can’t use points but I thought maybe we could buy with cash.

Gutted that this is first week back at school in the Uk, otherwise I would definitely be booking!
Same, mostly. In the US but my son will be starting Kindergarten a couple weeks prior so I feel like this is out for us, and I really love the itinerary.

From what I've seen, most of these are during school periods with the exception of the one this summer (early August).

They usually do only one member cruise a year, and they do usually book fast or at least the phone lines are stacked up all day. But I think the most recent one was slow to book up - maybe because it cost too much.

Yes, they do, because as you guessed, we have to pay for all the special guests and activities.

Do a search here in the DVC trip reports and/or on the Disney Cruise forum https://www.disboards.com/forums/disney-cruise-line-forum.9/ for reports on previous member cruises. Definitely a bucket list item for us.

From the descriptions I've read it seems kind of like a D23, but at sea! We go to D23 every time so I think we would really enjoy this, thanks for the links I'm going to look up past pricing to see if this is something we can do or keep dreaming 🤣🤣

Do you know if when you book you have to pay the whole thing up front or is it like any other cruise where you pay a deposit?

One of the drawbacks for us is that you do have to pay upfront. And usually at least one passenger’s fare must be paid with points. The third and fourth guest in a stateroom is cheaper, so families often use points for one of the kids, but when it’s just two adults, that points cost hurts!

I’m fairly certain you need to pay with points for at least one passenger on DVC ‘First Wave’ cruises, but the DVC Member Cruise can be paid all cash. I paid all cash for the DVC Member Cruise to Alaska a few years back. I would never pay with points, as DVC values them at around $9 a point = throwing money away. You can rent your points with David’s and get twice that.

What are first wave cruises? Yeah I wouldn't want to use points for a cruise either, the points are for before and after the cruise

Do you have a sample of the itinerary / activities from pasts DVC member cruises?

(I haven't been able to find a trip report in the cruise thread so far)

First Wave cruises are like the upcoming Disney Destiny cruise in November. I think it’s the 2nd sailing of the ship. There are no real DVC specific events/gifts/lectures like the DVC Member Cruise. So basically you’re spending points and getting at most half of what they’re worth for the same cruise you could take the week after. But for those who don’t mind booking with points, that’s great. I just can’t see the value in it…but that’s just me. I’m booked on the Destiny Jan 2026, and keeping my points for the newly renovated BLT…
