Does anyone know when any special pricing for 2025 is likely to be offered? I am specifically hoping for a Disney Visa deal (like what is being offered now but with bookings through Dec. 20 at the latest) but obviously I'll be happy with anything. I'm weighing renting points for a 1BR villa vs booking directly. We are 2 parents, 3 kids and wanting to visit in March. Feeling the stress because I don't have anything booked. Waiting on cheaper airfare from the east coast too. 🤞

May be too late to rent points for March. Maybe a guaranteed reservation if your dates are flexible? Hard to say about special offers, they have come out at kind of odd times this year. Just when you think they are done with offers, another one pops up! Good luck!

I don’t think we’ll see 2025 offers for several more months.

I do think you’ll find a rental pretty easily; it’s still more than 7 months away.
I agree on the rental, as long as they are not picky about where they stay, especially for a 1BR. And with SAB at the BC closed, it may be easier to get a rental there. My math on the 7 month mark was off!

If you want cheaper airfare from the East Coast, go in February, not March.

March 8 to 16 from Boston direct is $919

February 8 to 16 is $699

Whatever your dates, stop waiting to book. Prices aren't going to go down unless you really wait for something last minute.

Also the cancellation policy at the resort is very flexible so you should at least book SOMETHING for your room now so you have it, then you can cancel and rebook later as needed.

We have done just that. Not DVC but reserved our room only ressie with just one night paid and I can cancel basically a week before. We are waiting on flights.

Definitely looking for Aulani advice. Sorry I wasn't specific!

Trying to book during spring break for school purposes but thank you for the advice. Regardless, you are right and I'm going to go ahead and book something. Looks like it's about $1200 ish cheaper to do points but sounds like I can book through the resort with little penalty. I am totally unsure of Dave's cancellation policy. I'll look into that.

I actually have two trips coming up. One in October with the whole family in a GV at OKW that I booked through David's. And then Aulani in May to celebrate our 40th anniversary. While David's did save us money on the first trip, I opted to book with Aulani direct just due to the cancelation policy of a room only.

When you’re renting points you should basically assume as soon as you book it you’ll never see that money again. It’s a contract, not a booking.

If you need a cancellation policy, then I would go with DVC Rental Store.

Don't forget that there are pros and cons of renting at Aulani that don't make it an apples-to-apples comparison to booking with cash.
  • Points reservations do not get daily housekeeping unless you pay extra for it on a day-to-day basis
  • Points reservations get free self-parking.
  • Points and cash reservations pay the same price for valet parking, which is also the same price as cash reservation self-parking.
  • Points reservations have to pay a "transient accommodations tax" imposed by the state of Hawaii upon check-in.

I booked DVC Rental Store as was cheaper than Davids. I'm saving about 2k vs booking direct! Also for flights, Hawaiian Airlines credit card is offering 70k points bonus for opening a new card after you spend $2000 in 90 days (You do have to pay the 99$ annual fee right away), but that got me a round trip flight to Hawaii for 1 for $11.20 (I'm more in the middle of the country though, not east coast).

Nice. I got 5 r/t from the east coast for 4 AA card signups combined with booking the moment the schedule opened.

So right now for a 1BR Island Garden View, Dave's is coming back at $7,700 and Aulani site is coming back at $11,007. I feel like something at the Dave's option has to be off, right? I've never rented points but does that much of a gap seem normal? DVC Rental doesn't have anything available that entire week so I can't compare them.

Sounds about right! Friends of mine rented for 5N at the Poly (paid about $26 per point) and the entire cost was just under $2000. Same dates for same studio would have been $740 per night plus tax. It can be a decent savings if you can abide by the strict/no cancellation policy for a refund.
