My daughter is looking to buy either a Santa Fe or Palisade. She wants me to go to to the dealership with her because I'm more comfortable negotiating! Does anyone have any recent experience with buying one of these models? How are they with pricing? I know a couple of years back, some cars were going for MSRP and higher. I've been looking at Edmunds true value and KBB. Is there anyway to see invoice price online? Any tips are greatly appreciated!

I have a 2021 Hyundai Palisade (Calligraphy AWD) and my parents bought a 2021 Hyundai Sante Fe a couple of months after me. There was a cosmetic redesign of the Pali in 2023, but he current offering is largely the same vehicle as my 2021. The same cannot be said of the Santa Fe. I have no idea if the redesign has made it a higher demand vehicle, but it seems the dealerships are more likely to stock more Santa Fes since they're a little bit cheaper and smaller. That being said, the prices on the two are becoming much closer these days and the Land Rover looking redesign could make it a harder negotiation for the SF.

The Santa Fe was not high demand when my parents got theirs, so they had a number of dealer markdowns and room for negotiations. I got my Pali at a peak demand time when you were just lucky to get one on the lot. There was absolutely zero room for negotiation. The pricing for the Pali was Hyundai's MSRP, which was on the sticker, but due to the demand...most dealers were tacking on dealer fees during financing. So, it wasn't something I saw until I was in with the finance manager. Due to the high demand at the time, many dealers refused to budge on the dealer markup during financing. Of course, there were some other dealers that weren't doing this at all and just selling for MSRP on the sticker. It could be worth joining Facebook groups for each vehicle to see what people have been experiencing with sales of late. They might even be able to help point you to dealers in your area that aren't messing around with pricing.

I will say that my Pali is an excellent road trip vehicle. The side by side comparisons I've seen on the 2024s would still have me picking the Pali. Mine was damaged by a tree last month and I'm anxiously awaiting its return from the collision center.

No personal experience here. But I always like to watch online reviews. They often are quite good and in depth. Here are two comparison videos. Best wishes on with whatever your daughter decides on. Hope for many enjoyable, trouble-free years and miles ahead.

I have a 2022 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy and almost exactly this. I paid MSRP and I have zero regrets, I LOVE my Palisade. I wouldn’t expect a deal, Hyundai keeps calling/mailing wanting to buy her back as they are limited in stock on them.

That is true! I've gotten several requests from two different dealerships (the one I bought it from and the one I go for service) in recent months offering to buy her back. Ugh...all mopey now because the collision center ordered the wrong part. So much for her being ready beginning of this week. 🤬

Not the models you’re looking at. But we bought a Hyundai Kona in February from a dealership we have done business with many times. We wanted a specific color that no dealer in our area had. About 6 weeks later there was 1 about 200 miles away that they were able to get for us. We did pay MSRP because there were very few Kona’s available & obviously none in the color we wanted. However my husband was able to get some extra things included for no extra charge, like mats, mud flaps etc. We had decided to go down to 1 car so didn’t need financing, but the rate they had was decent at the time.

Her “yearly check up” is next month and I just know I’m going to get the “have you thought about” spiel. I have been aggressively paying it down so unless they want to put me in a 2024 straight across I’m not interested.

I’m sorry you’re still without yours.

I had a Palisade as a rental car earlier this year, driving from Nashville to Knoxville and back. Really loved the Palisade and all the bells and whistles it had. Plus the ride was great also. I told my wife that I would not mind driving one of these at all in the future.

I saw a number of people taking the bait a couple of years ago, but nobody ever seemed to get a good enough deal to justify going through with it. Honestly, I prefer the grill design on the older ones, so I'd be a hard sell for the 2024. The seat massager is a nice upgrade, but still not sure it's worth it.

Thanks! I'm just so frustrated. It wouldn't be as big of a deal if we weren't having issues with DH's vehicle and didn't need to head out of town. His truck was totaled in the same tree issue that damaged my Pali. His new truck has been in the shop for 2 weeks because they can't figure out why the check engine light is on.

Palisade has been at, or near the top in ratings ,in its class, according to Consumer Reports, since it was released.

You will probably be able to negotiate more on the Santa Fe because the redesign is very polarizing. People either love it or hate it. But if the palisade has the desired features, space, and performance, paying a bit more may be worth the satisfaction of getting the Pallisade.

No on the Santa Fe!!! They absolutely decimated the design of it and now it looks like a bloated minivan. It was such a nice looking car before the redesign, I'm not sure what they were thinking.

Lol!!! She loves the 2024 Santa Fe and hated the old one!

I had a different take on the appearance. I haven't decided if it's positive or negative for me just yet. To me it looks more like they were deeply inspired by some of Land Rover's offerings. I feel a bit of imposter syndrome is going on between the new Santa Fe and the Defender.

We have a leased 2023 Santa Fe and we don't particularly like the new outward design of the 2024 but we have been enjoying our 2023.

Back in 2021 we had looked at the Palisade (and a Santa Fe) which took a long time to be able to test drive one back then with the chip shortage, Santa Fe was easier but the Palisade took much longer to test drive. The advantage to the Palisade was the 3rd row and at that time we were going back and forth between wanting a 3rd row or not. Fast forward to last year when my husband's car was totaled and we found ourselves needing a car immediately we were glad we stuck with the Santa Fe which had been one of our main choices back in 2021 when we had originally been seriously looking at vehicles. It's just my husband and I at this time and the 3rd row is not 100% necessary as opposed to having that cargo space.

One of the things we liked they did in between 2021 and 2023 on the Santa Fe was the addition of the side cameras that turn on when you have the turn signal engaged my husband who primarily drives the car loves that feature although with rain it's not quite as effective. Back in 2021 I think that feature was only available on the Calligraphy (which was largely what the dealers were stocking back in 2021 around here). I forget which version of the Santa Fe we got but it wasn't the base level.

There are some features of the Santa Fe that we like in the 2023 model that they removed/adjusted in the 2024 model (aside from the very big outside redesign) so once our lease is up in 2026 we'll see what they've done then to see if we'll go for another Santa Fe.

We would have bought the Santa Fe in 2023 had the interest rates been much lower, a leased vehicle was a better choice in late summer 2023. We also got a fantastic deal on the Santa Fe because they were about to release the 2024 so they were trying to get rid of their existing Santa Fes.

I just bought a 2024 Santa Fe Hybrid a few weeks ago but I'm probably not much help as the Palisade wasn't on my list; they don't currently offer it in a hybrid option.

Nearly bought the Tucson (had already done prelim paperwork) when we realized my tall husband didn't fit well with the headroom. The Santa Fe wasn't that much more, was similar size to what I had driven previously, and fit us all better. I had mixed feelings about the back of the car but overall loved the boxier style (I love the Land Rover but $$$) and the interior so I decided I didn't look at the back of my car when I drove it and it was otherwise the perfect vehicle, at a price we wanted to spend, so we bought it. I traded an Infiniti QX60 for it.

I've put 2k miles on it in 3 weeks and absolutely love it. The gas mileage is fantastic.

We paid sticker price for it, but they did have to hunt it down for me (I wanted the SEL Hybrid with as few dealer add-ons as possible). I saw it for the first time when they delivered it to my house for me!
