We are 50/50 on canceling our January 2022 Disney cruise and booking a July 2022 6 night stay at Yacht Club instead. It’s really dependent upon if cruises really do start in August and what they look like restriction wise.

My other concern is that 2022 at WDW is going to be bananas with everyone catching up on missed vacations. Does anyone see any merit in postponing WDW until summer 2023 in lieu of 2022, or am I overthinking this?

I honestly think people are looking forward to theme parks and cruises. I think they’re both going to pick up on bookings, but I wouldn’t expect cruising to be back to 100% capacity as quickly as a theme park. Cruising is a big commitment to be on the boat for a set week with no flexibility to leave when you want. I don’t think you can go wrong with either!

We are doing WDW in Oct/Nov 2022 at Poly and then the following year (fingers crossed) Disney Cruise to Hawaii or Alaska. We wanted to wait at least a year to see how cruising is going before we hop on since our son isn’t and won’t be vaccinated anytime soon.

same. Our 13yo is eligible but we’re waiting. We have to either commit or cancel the cruise by 9/16, unless Disney extends their cancellation policy grace past 12/31. We were so excited to cruise (have never done it before), but will be less excited if it’s very regimented (pool and teen club reservations)

I think July in WDW is bananas regardless of what year it is. I think the only upshot for 2022 is, if things trend in the direction they are going in now, there will be more shows and attractions open which will help with pathway and outdoor line crowding. Right now, with shows and other attractions closed, a lot of areas that typically "swallowed" crowds (shows like Nemo, for instance), simply aren't available right now. Also, if cruising starts and international travel opens up, it will give people more travel options. The demand for US domestic travel, in general, is off the charts this year.

We went July 2019 and didn’t think it was terrible, but I had planned like a crazy person and the Fast passes definitely seemed to help.
