2022 no magical express announced

We're off siters already. The savings means we get to back about twice as often as we could if we stayed on-site in the level of accommodations we are accustomed to.

Yes, I read it will be effective January 1, 2022.

Also, heard they are replacing Extra Magic Hours with early park entry. Some of us like to close the parks down instead of rope drop! I just wonder what will be next.

Well this does change my own plans. I like not having to think about transportation when I go, if I have to find other means and pay for them, what is the benefit? I guess the internal buses? But I also imagine those will become less efficient over time as well. Sad :( If I had known my last trip was going to possible be my LAST TRIP I would have made it longer... I don't like having to drive on vacation so will have to look at what it will cost staying off site and transportation.

That’s sad. It’s one perk I really liked. Now for us with no fast passes, no free magic bands etc the only real park of on-site is the transportation to the park.

I just read about that. So resort guests will be allowed in 30 mins before everyone else. But it’s to every park, not just a designated one.

I’m guessing that means if you want to get on any headliners at rope drop you will need to be a resort guest. Curious if they will include the swan and dolphin or Disney springs hotels in this.

After our last ME experience, dh said never again (much to my delight). We have sporadically used a car service (Tony Hinds. He’s fabulous). Nothing beats coming into baggage claim and seamlessly walking out of the terminal to a waiting car. We are usually at the resort within thirty minutes of deplaning. We don’t ever have luggage so ME never assisted with that.

I can live with the no Magical Express as we have been using Uber & Lyft & private cab companies for a couple of years.
We allow $200 and up per trip.(Tip included).

Extra Magic evening hours will be gone sort of.....
They will open the parks in the evenings and market them as special events for an additional cost.$$$$$
I predict Disney Springs is going to get mobbed at night.

Magic Bands ,,I'm ok asking for a plastic card and don't need the band.

Hugs
Mel

I am also upset about no more DME but knowing that Tony Hinds is about $120 round trip is comforting. I was thinking of January 2022 but maybe I will push that forward to Dec 2021 if the vaccine schedules look more promising in the coming months.

I really think they will start with Early Morning Magic Hours again . We did Toy Story Land EMM and Fantasyland EMM in 2019 at a cost I wanna say $59 a kiddo and $79/$89 for an hour and a half maybe .. or more private pay evening events .. make more $$$

First I have heard of this. Really disappointed if that is the case. We have used ME many times.

I hope that whatever new services come up have better car seats. We'll have a 4 year old and 2 one year olds in our party. Most Ubers only have front facing car seats and last time we used Tony, he only had a front facing car seat as well.

We'll probably have to rent a few vehicles and bring along car seats, bleh. Hopefully car rental rates will go down if there is a great demand.

That was one plus with DME. It probably wasn't safer than using a car seat but it sure was less hassle.

I was disappointed to hear this as well, but I can't say I'm totally surprised. There's a lot of $ to be made here. My best guess is they won't do away with it in it's entirety -- I'd guess it'll be replaced by a paid service. I've seem some people mention the train - but that seems to be a logistical nightmare with luggage, given that it just goes to Disney Springs. At least that's my understanding.

it was owned and operated by mears . We use mears as family for transportation to the parks most mornings with car seats .. I assume mears will continue to offer service at a cost from airport but perhaps to multiple resorts ??

Glad to hear Tony Hinds price, will help in future planning. Glad we no longer need a car seat. I am sure there will be places that charge popping up to replace the free service, perhaps Mears?

For the EM time, we don't really take advantage? Maybe the evening ones but the morning I don't think we really did. We did do the EMM at Toy Story and Fantasyland, it wasn't terrible, we rode 7DMT 12 times, and the breakfast was nice since kiddo doesn't eat first thing so by the time we could go eat he was actually hungry. But he was 9 and next time he'd be paying adult prices and probably not worth it for what he eats. I will guess they are going to include more party/after hours events to earn more. But neither of those requires staying on site.

I have a cruise booked for December and thought maybe the night before we'd stay at Disney instead of near the airport, since transportation is free and it would be a nice little boost. I guess this year we still can but it won't really be an option in the future.

This makes me sad .. between no meting hours for guests currently if those don’t come back .. is it worth staying on site anymore ?
what would us take for you to move off site ?
We already stay off site, but it makes the chances that we will stay on site much lower. First was the removal of free parking for guests. Then the free MBs. Now this and the EMH gone? And no FPs, yet at least. A half hour earlier for on site guests is a perk, but a small one, particularly depending on how strongly it's enforced.

Also, as an off site guest, that means I can't pick a day to RD, because all my RD options are gone if I'm not an on site guest. Is that enough to be worth the huge expense? And do those perks also include good neighbor hotels or only WDW hotels?
