2020 Rates

Not in this case. Agree to disagree I guess.
It’s ALWAYS subjective. Just because YOU don’t see the value in it, that doesn’t mean that someone else doesn’t. I’m sure that Disney’s bean counters did their homework and that rate was determined to put enough heads in beds to be profitable.

Ok.

Normally I would agree with you. And in some of these prices, I agree. But charging over $1,000 per night for a standard room at the Polynesian, to me, is just throwing crap at the window and seeing if it sticks. It's just too ridiculous to imagine any real calculations went into it.

Room rates always spike during this time of year (Easter/Spring break). I certainly don't think Poly is worth $1K - I've never even thought that it's worth much more than WL even with the location - but there's not very many rooms there when you take DVC rooms out of the mix and it's very popular so that pushes the price to a range that I think is totally unreasonable even during non-peak times. But people will pay it so they'll continue to charge it.

The rates are out of control. We just back from our trip this summer. We are planning on skipping next year---mainly because the rates have gotten up so high. I had hoped that we could return in 2021---but we will see if its in the budget when those rates/discounts come out. There is a threshhold of what families can afford---and for us it has reached that point.

Us too.

We just got back from our July trip. We stayed at Bonnet Creek in a 2 bedroom villa which was gorgeous and perfectly located. We paid under $200 per night.

Yep. Our plan is to return for Thanksgiving 2021. I guess it will take 2 years to save up.

Well hello all you northeast people lol. We usually travel Patriots day week as well but this year we are doing February break instead. And yes on property prices are ridiculous! I already booked our cruise with DCL and AKL through a DVC owner for half the trip. Hoping for discounts to drop for the first half of our stay to get a moderate. Actually I was hoping with all the problems at Grand Destino tower that CSR prices will come down LOL

What problems?

We have off the week after Easter normally (Holy Thursday & Good Friday as well). I’m a teacher so we went the week after Easter this year. We definitely did not pay over $600/night for the wilderness lodge. We paid in the $400s.

ETA: I priced out easter week 2020 though and it was outrageous. So we are going to brave the early July heat and go then. More days and way less money!

Yes it ridiculous! Not many will pay that! Disney has lost their minds. We stayed in a standard room a couple years ago with a discount for 270.00 a night.

I think those bean counters miscounted. I think they have grossly over estimated the appeal of Galaxy’s Edge and under estimated the impact the various price increases would have.

I agree. I watched a live stream walkthrough of SWGE and it did nothing for me. And I'm a Star Wars fan. The mistake (I think) they made is not creating a land fans can identify with. Making up a fictional Star Wars land makes little sense. WWOHP works because of the amazing sense of being in familiar locales from the movies. I'm not seeing it with SWGE. There is nothing emotional pulling me in. Just like with Pandora. Difference is I could not possibly care less about Avatar.

wow I didn't even realize it wasn't an actual Star Wars thing. I've seen the movies but my son is the one really into it. They made up new stuff instead of using things from the movies?
