We purchased the military salute tickets from Shades of Green at the beginning of February for our trip in September. The tickets are set to expire in December. In the event the parks are still closed in September, or that the military travel ban is still in place and we are unable to reschedule before December. Shades of Green has made it very clear that refunds are not being offered on the tickets, but that we could potentially apply the value to next years salute promotion if one is offered. If we go this route, does anyone think we would be able to do the exchange without actually being there in person? So that we are able to make our FPs at the 60 day mark?

Part of me is also hoping that a military promotion is offered next year, or else we might not be able to afford the full non discounted ticket price because it is significant difference. :(

I'm also slightly worried we can't go next year due to a PCS/deployment. So, we might be out the money spent on the tickets completely. :(

I THINK they should refund personally but like you said, they made it clear they will not.
I also think that Disney should honor prices but they made that pretty clear too.
that said, I think Disney would have a way to change the date if the offer is extended.
Really sucks because we are limited much more than even teachers for example of times that work. Some people are stuck overseas that were supposed to be home and have trips scheduled and will most likely miss them even if Disney opens :(

First, let me say I am totally guessing here. I am just speculating.

I think SOG knows how important the 60 day FP window is, so they will likely create a way to have the exchange done via email/phone. I am sure the logistics of it all is being worked on. Once they have a solid plan in place they can implement and share it.

Disney has offered the military salutes discount I believe since 2002. I could be wrong, but it is a wonderful benefit I always hope for every year. There are no guarantees, but if we are going into a recession, Disney will want to attract visitors by continuing discounts. Hopefully military salutes will be included. 🤞

If for some reason with the Covid closures and a documented deployment you weren't able to go in 2020 or 2021, my best guess (and totally a guess) is that SOG will work with you. It probably will not be advertised, but maybe worked on a case by case basis. Either way, I think they will roll the price into 2022 tickets or possibly a refund. I don't think SOG is rubbing their hands together with an evil laugh hoping to take your money. I think they want the majority of us to use the tickets in the foreseeable future, but if for some reason you have extenuating circumstances that prohibit you from going in the next year and a half, they may make concessions. However, I think those concessions won't occur until the mid to later part of 2021.

Again, totally guessing.

There’s a 99.98% chance that the promo will be extended/ reissued. Might have a price change. Might not. You can blame Disney, not SoG or ITT/MWR for them being non refundable as that was one of the original terms when they began offering the deal. But, you can apply the price paid towards any other ticket option that Disney has. on any future date. Any unused ticket still has value.

Has anyone had the expiration dates changed on their Season Salute tickets? I’m guessing not, but I thought I would ask. I have seen reports over on the rumors thread of people’s tickets that they bought from Costco travel and Undercover Tourist automatically being extended. I believe the guidance we have received up until this point is that since WDW sells their Season Salute tickets through local bases and SOG, they are considered third party tickets and thus Disney will not deal directly regarding them. I have been told that tickets we are unable to use can be applied toward the cost of the new 2021 Season Salute tickets when/if they come out in Sept or Oct—we would also be responsible for paying the difference. Am I the only one that has an issue with this? While I am grateful for how Disney has treated the Military community over the years, I find it unacceptable if they are now not treating these tickets the same as other 3rd party tickets. In my opinion you can’t have it both ways. They are either 3rd party and should be treated the same as other 3rd party tickets or they aren’t and you need to come up with a policy specific to them. I’m going to call Disney when things settle down a bit and inquire. I just wanted to see if anyone was seeing any date changes on their tickets.

Just to update here, it was posted in another thread (https://www.disboards.com/threads/military-salute-tickets-amidst-cov-19.3797961/page-6) that the Salute tickets are being extended. (Thanks @zemmer!) I checked mine this morning, so far one of the two tickets I have in MDE has an expiration date of 9/26/21. Several other DIS members in the thread are reporting seeing some of their tickets updated while others haven't been. Guessing these are probably being updated in batches like the regular dated tickets were.

Looks like Disney is quietly updating these! Glad they're now treating these like other tickets and are still supporting military members as they have historically. This will help so many military families who cannot go later this year.
