2020 Banked points expiration

Hi all, we are in the process of purchasing a resale contract at SSR. Our use year is October and we have the points available below. Will someone please explain when the banked points from 2020 will expire? Also, when will we need to use/bank the points from 2021? We are planning a trip in October 2022, but I don’t want to lose any points we have available to us now if at all possible.

October 2021 - 200 points
October 2022 - 100 points
October 2023 - 100 points

There are currently 200 points (100 points banked from Oct. 2020 & 100 points from Oct. 2021) + 100 points coming Oct. 2022 + 100 points coming Oct. 2023

The banked points from 2020 will expire on October 1st this year. You have to use them before then, so if you don't go until October they will be lost. You can bank the 2021 points any time now until the end of May. If you don't bank the 2021 points they will also expire on October 1st this year.

100 of these must be used by September 30.

The other 100 must be banked by May 31 or used by September 30.

If the 2020 points were banked to 2021, then those points are available from October 1, 2021 and expire October 1 2022- so the last day to use those points is September 30 2022.
The 2021 points aside from the ones already banked must be banked by May 31 2022 or they will also expire on October 1 2022.

The easiest way to think about it is you get your UY points in the calendar year for the associated UY points. So:
- Oct 2020 UY points hit your account on Oct 1st, 2020
- Oct 2020 UY points can be used through Sept 2021
- If those points are banked to the 2021 UY, then they can now be used through Sept 2022

If you don't think you will use all 200 points this year that are currently in your account, you can bank any/all of your 2021 UY points to the Oct 2022 UY before the end of May.

Since the banking deadline for the 100 2021 UY points is May 31st, I might ask the seller to bank those if you have just started the process.

The only way to use the 100 banked 2020 points is to travel before your 2022 UY starts, which is October 1st.

Banking extends the use of points by one year. So , 2020 points banked into 2021 are now good for trips in your 2021 UY..which is Oct 1 2021 to Sept 30th 2022.

Easiest way to know what can be used for a trip is to forget calendar year when planning and just think of the UY the trip will happen.

So, an Oct 2022 trip falls in your 2022 UY. It can be paid for with banked 2021, 2022, and borrowed..up to 50%..2023 points.

It will be a while then before you get points to use then (assuming the contract passes ROFR which takes a month or so typically). Consider this:

Since the banking deadline for the 100 2021 UY points is May 31st, I might ask the seller to bank those if you have just started the process.

FYI - It may be tight getting October reservations by the time you get the points. But SSR usually has the most open rooms for the longest.
