2018 Princess Half Marathon

So congrats to everyone registered thus far. If all goes well this Tuesday, this will be the first time participating in the Princess Half Weekend.

Fun little game: What order and sellout times do you think will happen once registration goes public on Tuesday:

1) 10K = ~30 minutes
2) FTC = ~2 hours
3) Kids Races = ~4 hours
4) 5K = ~1 day
5) Half = ~1 month

That was some craziness for early registration today! Thank god for that link on the fb page.

Ditto! Did any WDW passholders ever get in with the regular link? I saw one woman posted that by the time her link worked, the challenge was sold out :sad1: I was able to use the link posted on Facebook (and I am a passholder!!) to get registered for the challenge. Just need to get my niece registered on Tuesday - hoping all the links work, and that runs smoothly.

The other thing that surprised me yesterday was that you couldn't sign up more than one adult per email address. I wanted to sign my son (age 19) up for the 5K, but I could only do myself, or someone under age 18. I tried using his email, but since he already had an account setup on active.com, I had to have his password to proceed. I'm not sure if this was just for the early registration, or if it will be like that on Tuesday as well, but just a heads up for anyone who plans on signing up more than one adult - you may need their email address and password to complete their registration.

Good luck everyone!

^^it's always like that. You can sign up a minor kiddo under yours but adults need their own Active.com account.

Thanks for confirming that! I should have done more homework before yesterday :rolleyes1 I don't imagine I'll have trouble signing him up for the 5K on Tuesday, though. I will be prepared :thumbsup2

I'm a passholder and a DVC member. I never got the AP link to show up. I didn't even know about the early reg until an hour before it started yesterday. My daughter texted me to let me know. Was there any info sent out ahead?

I'm going for pink c2c 2018, too!
Me, too!

!

I was able to register via the pass holder site. I tried dvc for a few minutes kept getting the Star Wars stuff and then googled for the pass holder link. After a few bad links (to pass holder page) I found one that worked.

I don't think you'll have any issues if you're ready at noon. Good luck!

Good luck with dopey! I can't blame you for sticking with the 10k (I did light and dark side 10ks only in 2016) but glad to see u back at the princess thread this year. It's been a while for me since princess (2014) and the boards in general but I'm beyond excited to give this another go!
Thanks! It's fun to see familiar "faces" here again :) I needed a break from all things Princess, but I'm looking forward to a Princess-Light return lol!

That changed last year.

So, just to be all annoying...you're clicking that the person signing up has read the various legal agreements, then typing the name to indicate that the person understands it all. Those are somewhat legal things we're "signing" while filling out the registration.

Have I registered other adults? Yes. Do I feel 100% awesome about it? Eh, no. I do copy each popup and send it to the adult so they can read through it and know what "they" agreed to.

They don't send info (or at least I've never received it), but it's on the Dvc page under special offers. And the Dvc/ap reg date is in the first post of this thread.

That would be GREAT! Part of me would like to add the half, but I need to wait at least another month and see how badly my budget gets hit with an upcoming, but yet unknown, expense.
I second this. Hopefully my group will know about Light Side registration within that time and we can still have the option to sign up for Princess if that doesn't work out. But do you think being an anniversary year that time period would shorten? Or would all the run Disney die-hards -who would be especially excited about the anniversary year -also mostly just be considering the Challenge?

Apparently my cousin and I are planning to volunteer for the 5k. Anyone know the timeline for when that info will appear, assuming they don't go the Anaheim route by then (paid temps)?

When I volunteered for the January 5k in 2015, looking at my emails, I signed up in November 2014 for it (and I know I signed up as soon as I could). Is that the same timeline or do they do it earlier now? If anyone knows...

I really don't know anymore... was a time when an anniversary year would mean an almost instant sellout, but overall demand has gone back to more normal levels lately. The fact that the half didn't sell out in early reg (yet) makes me think it could hang around a while.

The Dark Side half never sold out as far as I know. I heard they were selling bibs at a discount at the expo for the current race. I'm thinking the half will be open for a long while, just my opinion though.

My DD25 and I did the Princess 5K and 10K in 2016 and had a great time. Due to an unexpected surgery I could not run from July last year through January this year. I had luckily only signed up for the Dark Side Half this year and not the challenge. I finished with the balloon ladies, but I did finish.

I'm recognizing some of the names from the DIS boards from Princess 2016. It's good to see you all again. This will be DD29's first Princess.

2) FTC = 5 min

Yikes! I hope not! My niece still needs to register, and she'll be devastated if she misses out. She knows to be ready before noon and has all of her info ready, but 5 minutes is a little scary!

Yes, I can see where you could be hesitant about this. Since it's my son, I'm not too concerned, but I may not feel that way if it was just a casual friend.

Don't let this scare you! I was just throwing a number out there! Some of the races in the past have sold out in minutes, I don't know what the turnout will be for this one. I took this to just be a game of guess the time.;)

They were selling them up to the last minute possible.

Just like pixie dust challenge is still being sold by some TAs. Saw an offer today for the challenge for $230. Sure do wish I could go that weekend (to get the pink ribbon and be done with that urge) but I've got rehearsal for something else.

This is all throwing off estimates of when things will sell out.
