For those who have read over the terms of the 2018 dining plan, can anyone clarify if you can order a drink at a table service buffet? It's worded like this-
Each Table-Service meal includes (for lunch or dinner):

  • 1 Entrée
  • 1 Dessert*
  • Non-alcoholic Beverage (or Alcoholic Beverage, for Guests 21 and older—2018 plan only)
-OR-

  • 1 Full Buffet** or Family-Style Meal
I wonder if this means you're only entitled to the drinks available on the buffet and therefore wouldn't be able to order a beer/wine?

Also does anyone know if a quick service credit would include a grab and go beer or wine? For example The Mara has individual single serve drinks and I can't tell if something like that would be included in a QS credit?

Hard to say right now. Call three CMs and you'll get 4 answers.

QS includes alcohol where available, so not at MK, for instance:

Each Quick-Service meal includes (for breakfast, lunch or dinner):

  • 1 Entrée
  • 1 Non-alcoholic Beverage (or Alcoholic Beverage, for Guests 21 and older—2018 plan only)
Bottled beer probably counts:
A single-serving alcoholic beverage includes items such as:

  • Beer or Cider
  • Wine or Sangria
  • Mixed Drinks and Specialty Cocktails
Most beer, wine and mixed drink beverages included, some exceptions apply.

This would include breakfast QS where alcohol is available per plan document.

I'm interested to see how this all ends up turning out in 2018.

I do think a can/bottle from the cooler will be fine. The stuff I expect to see not included are anything like a Lapu Lapu at breakfast. No pineapples.

I agree, when I read the details it makes sense that a can/bottle at a QS would be included.

But I do think it's weird they specify a drink is included in a table service meal, along w entree and dessert, but no mention of a drink included with buffets. I would think for restaurant like Boma, Biergarten etc you'd be able to get a glass of something if you're one the dining plan. If you couldn't I feel like that would impact value for me.
