2018 Character Palooza

Everyone is free to post their personal observations from recent experiences. This “secret” character greeting is one of the worst kept “secrets” at WDW.

But it is not at all. If it were a badly kept secret it would be a mobbed M&G. The fact that it's not shows that it is still a very well guarded secret. Because it's not widely discussed on Internet message boards.
Other things that get widely discussed, have been eliminated.

The OP asked for advice on an event that they clearly knew about. Anyone’s public observations about the event are fair game and to insinuate otherwise is disingenuous.

I think KTP provides a great service but I promise he sells subscriptions to as many people as he can without care as to if this will be eliminated. The only variable in it being eliminated is being mobbed by paid KTP subscribers or mobbed by unpaid public forum dwellers. I don’t think anyone coming here for advice that is not against DIS board rules should be told that they cannot discuss this. JMO

Worth is up to you. It can be canceled for MANY reasons. There usually are not any truly rare characters and it has moved around in the last year or so. The last two places that I personally observed it was at the front of the park and by RNR.

It would not have been worth it for Saturday’s “event.” We happened to be in the area and stopped by.

In November we waited for a long time and nothing happened. It’s up to you. It gets a big “meh” from me.

I have been twice and to us it is totally worth it, but I have a 2 year old who loves characters. The first time was far better as there were a lot of characters, Mushu, Pocahontas, Chip & Dale, Evil Queen, Bert & Mary Poppins. Mushu spent about 10 minutes playing with my son and it was just one of those Disney’s magical moments. The second was ok, but since this one was at the front of the park, it was much more crowded and fewer characters. This time was Pocahontas, Mulan & Dopey.

With that said, I wouldn’t just go without having the information provided by the Character Locator (times etc). The day it was in the front of the park, I only knew because of the chat room feature.

It's the type of thing that when it gets discussed on public boards, it gets flooded with people to the point where it may get discontinued.

It was briefly discontinued and then it came back in its current rotating format. The reason it was discontinued and then came back changed was too many people were showing up and that put the safety of the charactes and guests at risk. I believe this is the main reason specific details are not discussed.
