advcfam thanks for the reply however I wanted to know how the online MODIFY works if free dining does come out and you have a package booked. Should I have the dining already added to my package and modify to free dining or would I be adding the dining to modify my reservation.

Once you have a reservation any modifications need to be done over the phone. So if you add it now and it becomes available for your dates, you will have to call and secure it. Or you will have to book an entirely different pkg online and then cancel the other.

I get to bow out of this guys! I got a great deal through another TA and booked it and am cancelling my current reservation. It's just as good as the FD offer would be! So I'll be watching just cause this is exciting but I don't have to worry now :)

I'd love to know as well! Would you mind PMing me? :)

Interesting as there are many posts on this forum that suggest you can click on MODIFY (but not on a mobile - just a desktop) to modify your reservation.

Last year I was able to modify my existing reservation to add free dining and I did it online.

In the event free dining does come out I don't want to be "computer challenged". Do you remember how you added the free dining ... do you click on MODIFY and it walks you through or do you happen to remember if your reservation had dining added to it before you modified or you added the dining when the free dining came out.

I guess I am only talking in general terms. Is that against the rules as well?
Your family seems to be mostly Disney Adults and I have a feeling that FD may be the best deal in price you can get. I can't see how a TA could get you better discounts than the FD Disney offers.

I was thinking/hoping that Disney has blocked out the rooms until the FD promo has rolled out. Or (and here's where the paranoia sets in ) just my dates are blocked out for me, and me alone. :hyper:

I booked in February since we are going no matter what. 9/27 thru 10/3. Our dates aren't flexible but our resort is. We are currently booked at CBR and this year we are a party of 5 so we are limited to resorts. I went in today to look for optional resorts so we would have a backup. This morning POR had nothing available but now they have Riverview & Pirate Rooms available. We may just do 2 rooms at POP and have the extra bathroom if we can't stay at CBR. Now to wait and see :magnify:how this all pans out. I am afraid, now that CBR is fully booked during my dates that Disney may come back and exclude CBR :scared:

Just a heads up...When we booked our bounce back, a standard room at most resorts was not an option.

I believe she mentioned that in her post........

Sorry to tell you that the Walking Dead attraction is at Universal Hollywood so it might be a little far to go :duck:

Oh no!!!!!!:sad2: I am such a knucklehead. I did think it the attraction would be in Orlando. Now there is no chance of my family wanting to stay offsite and doing a few days at Universal. So if FD doesn't happen for our dates, we are out of luck.:scared:

Yes, they have all the control of your package. I'm a control freak and can not sit back and let someone else do everything for my Vacation. I like to make my own dining Ressies and anything else.

OK, that makes sense. I cant wait until we close on our DVC, no more TAs!

You can do it from a phone if you use go to the webpage - just can't do it through MDE. I can change the packages on mine, the resort, the days of the ticket and to add/change the dining plan.

I wonder why my TA said I had to call to make changes. Is it because I booked through a TA?
That might be why. I've never used a TA. I think they have to make the changes for you if you use a TA.

Question to clarify the (if offered at all) part.

Do you mean "if FD is offered at all" as in - it will go live on 4/25 (if offered at all); or does that statement only apply to the latter part of the sentence regarding DV release of 4/21 part?

Did that make sense? Sorry, not enough sleep; suffering with a migraine; and my thoughts aren't translating into words very clearly :headache:

Thanks for being here BTW
This statement only applies to the latter part, meaning that there might not be an early release for Disney Visa cardholders. There wasn't an early release last year.

I'm new to this so forgive me for asking what may be an obvious question to you that are vets here but I have just recently been approved for the Disney rewards visa and I'm waiting for my card any minute. If I'm reading correctly, people with those accounts may get opportunities for FD prior to the general public. I already have a reservation (with deposit down) in December and just want to "upgrade" to get the free dining. Will I have to put my reservation on the Disney card to receive the FD and how will I know when I'm allowed to request it? Email? I'm reading so many pages but I'm just not clear.
If they have an early release for DV cardholders, then you would have to use a Disney Visa card to secure the deposit. If you didn't use a DV card the first time then you will have to make an additional deposit. But that is only if there is an early release and there hasn't been any rumors about that yet.

Just a heads up...When we booked our bounce back, a standard room at most resorts was not an option.
It all depends on your dates. My sister was able to book a standard view room at POR for her trip and my daughter was able to book a sv bounceback for her trip, different dates. I was able to book a preferred room for one free dining room but not for a room only bounceback.
