I booked POR as soon as it went live at 3am last year (4am eastern). Standard was not available so had to book garden. There are actually very few standard rooms at POR so they may have already been booked before the promo. I kept checking to see if I could get standard but nothing came up. So I would be prepared for the extra. It was roughly $15 more per night I think.

Yeah right now it's very limited for my dates at CBR but at POR there's a lot more options (Garden and up). I guess with the recent refurb and the blackouts on POR maybe that's what people have decided to book. I wouldn't mind switching in order to secure the promo, but I can see some people being disappointed they didn't get their first choice.

I get to bow out of this guys! I got a great deal through another TA and booked it and am cancelling my current reservation. It's just as good as the FD offer would be! So I'll be watching just cause this is exciting but I don't have to worry now :)

Please share!! :)

I think after much debate our room preferences in order, are;

Little Mermaid room at Art of Animation, (if by dumb luck it's offered, but not expecting it)
Pop Century, any
Coronado Springs (standard)
Caribbean Beach (standard)
Port Orleans (standard)
All Star Music or Sports (standard)
All Star Movies (standard)
All Stars (preferred)
Any moderate resort room that isn't standard

Our dates are also pretty flexible as we could travel any time in Sep, Oct, Nov, or Dec, minus the weeks of Thanksgiving and Christmas

If you have never been to Disney between Thanksgiving and Christmas I'd recommend going in December of an early week is offered. Personally do not think there is a better time to be at Disney.

Please do tell :) I would love to book something now rather than wait since our dates are not likely going to be included in the FD offer anyway. Also, there are some deals on flights that I would like to get booked ASAP as a few have already sold out within the past few days as we've all been waiting for FD to drop. I've never used a TA before but would be willing to hand over the planning if I could score a great deal!

If you can't list details here, could you PM me? Pretty Please

I'm new to this so forgive me for asking what may be an obvious question to you that are vets here but I have just recently been approved for the Disney rewards visa and I'm waiting for my card any minute. If I'm reading correctly, people with those accounts may get opportunities for FD prior to the general public. I already have a reservation (with deposit down) in December and just want to "upgrade" to get the free dining. Will I have to put my reservation on the Disney card to receive the FD and how will I know when I'm allowed to request it? Email? I'm reading so many pages but I'm just not clear.

We actually did November last year, so got the holiday stuff then, except my boyfriend wasn't on that trip. So our first choice is Sep or Oct for this trip for Halloween and Food and Wine, and then hopefully there's a bounceback offer my boyfriend and I can take advantage of for Dec 2017.

You cannot go wrong with either of those months.

I was wondering what it would be like from the weekend after thanksgiving through that first week in December?[
its a great time to go....the weather is great and everything is decorated.....we usually go the following 10 days after thanksgiving but this year we switched it up...

Hi everyone,

Watching this thread for the free dining as well. Great to know that there are a so many people as obsessed as our family about Disney.

We went last year in April so this is the first time we do not have a bounce back. The waiting is giving me anxiety as well.

If I book on-line now with the "HOPE" of modifying my reservation for Free Dining, should I add the dining to my package now or leave it off?

I would if you are going to make any dining reservations that require payment in advance.

Thank you, I cant not wait it has been too long since our last trip and its nice to hear that the crowds and weather wont be too bad after that first weekend.

I am wondering about this too. Currently I have NO dining plan associated with my package reservation. I am HOPING that once the promo hits that I can then ADD FD to my current package. Not sure which situation is better, to have ONE plan in place and then modify or to have NO plan in place and then just ADD it. I think I'm going to stay w/out one for now in hopes off just adding it when it is released.

Now I remember more about last year...after FD went live I found standard rooms at POR for our dates, but that was for a RO ressie. When I was booking and loiking through the FD special offer link there were no standards. That was sep 7-15.

advcfam thanks for the reply however I wanted to know how the online MODIFY works if free dining does come out and you have a package booked. Should I have the dining already added to my package and modify to free dining or would I be adding the dining to modify my reservation.

I'm new to FD as I normally travel in January but have the opportunity to travel at the start of December this year. If I'm staying at ASMovies would I need to move or upgrade to take advantage of a FD offer? Also are you able to upgrade to other plans and pay the difference? Sorry if these are repeat questions and thank you in advance for your help everyone :)

I used to always go with ASMovies because my kids and my dh and myself loved the theming. However, we could not stay there during the FD promotion the last time we went because it was not offered. We stayed at ASMusic but I would not stay there again. I will choose ASSports next time just because it seems to be the least 'abused' out of the values imo.
