2016 Free Dining Watch

I have to tell all of you that you are soooo entertaining!!

We are cruising this year, so no WDW for us. Even if we were doing the parks, we wouldn't do FD, because Disney is so generous with their military discount, that NOTHING is better than that.

Still, I come on and read through the posts every day just for the fun of "listening" to you all.

I'm glad you posted this. I'm also eligible for the military discounts. I've been following this thread thinking "I MUST be missing something" because it didn't seem like FD would be a good deal to me but everybody else is SOOOO excited! I need to learn to just trust the math that says mil room discount + mil salute tickets + OOP dining is cheaper than FD. But I won't stop watching this thread because you all have me soooooooo excited for all of you!

For those who don't follow Pete Werner, he posted last night on FB that suspected free dining dates are 8/23-10/1, 11/15-11/21, 11/26-11/28, and 12/10-12/21. NOT confirmed yet.

Yeah, someone posted it last night. Thats why this thread grew by like 12 pages in one night

Ok, another question...when you click the "change reservation", and you go to the special offers,etc, I assume that it doesn't actually change the reservation until you confirm or something. Right?

Correct, it won't actually change anything until the final confirmation/payment screen.

I was thinking it would be more like november 9th - 17th myself. The 21st seems way too late because those people could easily stay through Thanksgiving.

I dont think November 9th due to that being in the middle of Jersey Week and Veterans day. Im thinking it would be more like Nov 13 - 19 or maybe 12th - 19.

That's exactly what I did last year. I had a reservation at Pop and when FD came out, I just booked a new reservation at CBR under the promo and then I canceled my original one at Pop when it was all confirmed.

I was thinking the week of the 9th for a backup week for us because it was included in 2014.

I've done that before. I think it was in 2012 and I couldn't decide what resort to stay at, but then it was the one year the Little Mermaid rooms at AoA were added to free dining and I grabbed one of those as soon as it was available.

I'm so hoping it's earlier in December! Was there a release date projected for these fd deals? I didn't see it but I was spazzing and reading pretty quickly.

That's exactly what I did last year. I had a reservation at Pop and when FD came out, I just booked a new reservation at CBR under the promo and then I canceled my original one at Pop when it was all confirmed.

Thank-you, that makes me feel better! I wonder if you can have two reservations at the same resort? We booked last year before the ticket price increase because our family really wants to stay at POR this year. Last year POR was not included in FD for our dates so I don't want to cancel our reservation unless we can get FD. With a family of 5 our resort choices are more limited!

We got free dining that year that Little Mermaid was included too!!!! We got there on opening day and were the first to stay in our room!!!! The year after that we got totally lucky and they offered free dining at POFQ (I think that was the last time they did)!!!! I'm really hoping for some good luck this year too!!!! Hoping for 3 rooms at POR in Sept!!!!! (really hoping for standards to save some money too!!!!)
