2016 Free Dining Watch ~ Part 2

Hope everyone is breathing normally and was able to sleep last night! From what I have read, other rooms have opened up and people were able to still get what they wanted! I have a question about the BB offers that may or may not be in the rooms. Can you book them for anytime that you want to come back or do they have to be for the same time frame you are there? Say for instance, we go Nov this year but want to go next year during the Flower Garden Festival-can we book for that time frame or do we have to go in Nov again?

Called again this am to see if any Monorail resorts opened up that might not show on the MDE . Nothing at all in November .

I had a good CM so chatted her up a bit. She said the monorail resorts were very very limited on this offer and she didnt see anyone get it for November.

Strange to lock out those resorts.....mostly value resorts seem to be included. My thinking is WDW knows there values are over priced for what you get . In order to compete with the orlando hotels that are much nicer in the same price range they are offering FD .

Its a smart move . Personally I have never stayed at WDW values because there is always a much nicer hotel in town with better price , and transpotation included (often with breakfast)

Shame.....for the dollars spent, might have to start doing this for the deluxes, and st rent a stretch limo for the week, its probably cheaper.....

YAY!! I was able to secure 4 nights Preferred Room POP Century (8-12 September) with the free dining and we paid the difference to upgrade the Quick Service plan to the standard plan. I'm in Australia, so was online as soon as it went live (it's 9pm here right now but it went live around 6pm here). We booked through an agent but because I was up when it went live I didn't want to run the risk of missing out and made my own secondary booking. If my agent comes through with an updated booking including the free dining I can always cancel my booking and get the deposit refunded. This was the last thing we were worried about for our September trip. Very happy and excited.

So a further update. By the time my agent got back to Disney for our Room Only booking there were only Royal Rooms at POR left for the 20% room discount. Our original booking was for a preferred room in AB section so we upgraded to a Royal Room in the Oak Manor building and still saved $200!! Very happy camper with free dining and 20% discounts applied. Best of both worlds.

I believe the main pool will be open.
Yes, the main pool is open that was just redone a few years ago. WL was my 3rd choice and where we will be staying. With FD. For us it was "only" $250 more to stay there for 5 nights than the pirate rooms and royal rooms that were available so I thought it would be worth it to be closer to the Mk. I've been monitoring trip advisor and people staying currently are actually saying the construction isn't bad. They don't hear it and the resort is only operating at 50% so it's not crowded at all! No waits for busses and boats! Most of the construction currently going on is on the villas side.

Thanks for posting about your call, I was just wondering if it was worth me calling in this morning. I got CR in November but really wanted to check in a day earlier and haven't had any luck online with the dates freeing up. Now I'm feeling lucky with the five nights I did get.
Keep trying though, when I booked there was definitely a couple of options at CR, they just went fast. Hopefully something frees up for you and I get my extra day!:-)

It depends on what the bb offer is at the time you're staying at Disney. FD is the typical bb if you stay between August - October. November stays are typically a room discount for the following year. You can book it for any dates available in the bb.

You can generally book bouncebacks for a different time frame than when you are currently traveling. For example, if you go in November, you will most likely see room discounts being offered for select dates throughout all of 2017. So, you would have a chance at reserving a discounted room during the Flower Festival.

However, if you were looking for free dining, those bouncebacks are limited in timeframe. It would be unlikely that a spring free-dining bounceback would be offered, since that promotion is generally reserved for the fall. Also, in our case, we were traveling under free dining in November last year and couldn't even get a free dining bounceback for this upcoming November. They keep shortening the free dining dates, as well as the timeframe with which they offer them as bouncebacks (the free dining bouncebacks expired days before we arrived last year).

Anyone know the answer to this? I was going to call once the craziness dies down but figured I'd try here first: I made ADRs back at 180 days. All of my family and their birthdays are in the Disney system from previous years. When I look at my ADRs it says 2 adults, 1 child, 1 infant. DS (my lucky FD baby) turned 3 yesterday so he has been booked as a child and will get FD this year instead of stealing all the food off my plate! Haha I don't get why he is coming up as an infant this year especially when his birthday is in their system and came up as 3 for the resort reservation! Will it make a difference when we go to eat at the restaurant if he is listed as an infant but I have the FD credits for him?

Double discount. Not possible.

Wow! And good for you!! I had consistently read that discounts were NEVER combined, for example, you could NEVER get a room discount AND FD!!! You scored BIG!!

No worries! Just wanted to make sure you knew too! Think they would make a change like that a little more clear considering it has been 45 days out for a LONG time. 15 day difference is quite a big change.
They had changed it to 30 days sometime last year. It was 30 days when we booked last August. :)

Last year the free dining bounce back offers could only be booked through Oct 31st. You will see a room only bounceback when you are there in November, unless they change things up this fall.

I think you are right about this. :)

I booked our free dining bounce back when our grandson was nine years old but I made it clear that he would be ten years old by the time we took the trip. They charged us the adult ticket price for him, and the confirmation email gives him adult dining credits. But the ADR's list him as a child, even though he is ten now. I'm not going to worry about it, since the confirmation email is correct. :) I have a feeling that the dining reservation data base doesn't talk to the room reservation data base. ;)

Double discount. Not possible.

It is completely possible! First 4 nights onsite we book POP with 9 day park hopper tickets. We then leave on a 4 night Disney cruise and then come back for a further 4 nights room only at Port Orleans. So we picked up free dining on the first 4 nights at Pop and paid the difference to upgrade quick service to the standard plan and then got the room only discount on the second stay at Port Orleans.

You got 20% off and free dining? I thought you could only apply 1 promotion? Or is it a split stay?

Let me explain a little better on that one - First 4 nights onsite we book POP with 9 day park hopper tickets. As soon as I hit post, I got someone. We are now all set for CSR for Labor Day weekend... and I'm celebrating tonight with a nice strong drink!
I'll be at CSR that weekend also! I've never stayed there but I'm looking forward to it. Glad you were able to get through! :yay:

Well it's possible because you have 2 separate reservations. Your first post made it sound like both were for the same room. That's where the confusion was.
