This is also our first Disney cruise and one as a family as well. I am interested in the fish extender, just don't know much about it.

Here is a great review of how it works.

Fish Extender

We share our state room numbers with those in our fish extender group. Then we hang pocket holder/mailbox on the fish hook outside your state room door.

It is totally optional. But a fun way to surprise your kids with fun items from others on your cruise.

There are a lot of fun ideas. Anything from Bubbles to small wine bottles for adults.

Hoping we get a group of 20 to participate.

It's my wife Tammy and I (Jason), and we'll be in 6066! We're going to participate in the Castaway Cay 5k, can't wait!

Hi Jason, I'm starting a list in this tread of who wants to do the FE. Let me know if you two change your mind. We are first timers too. But traveling with family who will have this be their 12th cruise. Tip, sign up for second dinner seating. Its less crowded and you get to stay later when leaving the ship.
