I'm not too sure if anyone has already posted a thread about this yet, but has anyone heard anything on the dates of the Christmas Day Parade filming? Thanks in advance!!

I think they film the parade the first Saturday in December. They did last year, and starting 2 days prior it was hs bands and cheerleaders as far as the eye could see. ::yes::

Thanks so much! We went two years ago the first weekend of December and it wasn't there, but last year it was filmed on that same weekend! I guess I'll just have to be patient. :)

I've been twice in the past few years at Christmastime during the filming and it seems likes it has taken place around the 5th, 6th or 7th of December. Whether or not those dates are consistent, it's usually the first full weekend. The park is packed during those days, so if you're not interested in it, I'd plan another park that day!

I have not been before but planning on being at the MK and attending MVMCP on the 5th. That is not consistent with most things I have read though. The front of the park all the way up to the castle is packed with people but the rest of the park is not very crowded at all????

That's true, the rest of the park is pretty quiet relative to the front. But Main Street and the hub area are a nightmare. I misspoke, but if you can make it though the crowds, or take the railroad (I believe it's open, even though they have production up on the Main Street station)...the other parts of the park aren't so bad.

Hi, I'm just wondering why people would want to watch the taping? Is it special in anyway?

They haven't said as far as I know they still aren't sure... All I know is there is a party Friday the 5th and highly doubt it will be that day... I have no interest going to the parade, it will be too busy for us! I am just preparing to change our plans depending on the dates!

I don't know for sure, but I've read on several sites that it's Sat Dec 6th.

It should be Friday, the 5th and Saturday, the 6th. Last year, they taped on Friday morning which set the regular CDCT day parade back two hours and it ran at 5:00. Saturday, the taping began at 7:00 a.m. and lasted until 4:00 p.m.

We've been in a few of the parks while they where filming and there was almost no problem getting around.

We've been to two taping days and just getting in and out of the park is a hassle. In the past, as you enter you go either right or left under the train station. If you go left you will be directed into the Emporium and stay there the entire length and exit near the Crystal Palace. If you go right, you are directed behind Main Street and exit into Tomorrowland. They film different parts of the parade all day, usually bringing one float down at a time. In editing it is all put together to look seamless but its far from it. Standing on Main Street and watching has not been allowed and is a ticketed event that you have to guarantee time to stand there like an extra in a movie. In the past, you had to guarantee either 2 or 4 hours (I can't remember the exact amount of time) just standing there. Unless you have unlimited time to spend standing around, its not a thing I would recommend. Its far from the polished TV show you see broadcast.

We went to the right behind Main Street:

You do see things you might never see at WDW, like production crews hauling garbage through the parks, if that interests you!

After seeing the way it is produced, it took away some of the magic. I did happen to snap a picture of Maria Menounos and Mario Lopez.

As I said, unless you have a burning interest, I would avoid the MK on taping day and use that time to better use in another park.

Dumb question but after its taped where/when is it aired? This is the first I'm hearing of a broadcast park parade.

Christmas Day on your ABC station. Depends on where you live... it may be before or after the televised NBA basketball game,

How CROWDED do you think it will be LATER in the day, say after 4:00 or so?

THANKS! :)

It's been confirmed on the Theme Parks board. Last year, the taping ended close to 4:00. The park will be crowded after that because all Main Street guests will then be riding the attractions.
