My DH is chaperoning a trip for approx. 300 students & the teacher who set up the trip was told they couldn't use FP+.

That's what they tried to tell us for last year's trip. Then they said it would be a lot of work.

Is the group getting hard tickets or Magic Bands? We are getting tickets and all we needed to do was link up the tickets numbers to each student/chaperone, once we had formed the walking groups. Getting everyone set up on an MDE account was the hardest part. I did not use real names or MDE accounts- everyone was given the last name of our town. So, for example, we had Ben Boston, Dee Boston, etc...

This time we are trying to book within 60 days so we are trying to get the reservations numbers as well.

:thumbsup2

It is possible. Disney did not discourage me at all but my group was small by comparison to band groups. We ordered our tickets very early. Then when they came in I had all of my students create a My Disney Experince account. All of our kids have school issued IPads so they did this with their IPad or smart phone. Then the students linked their individual tickets...most were able to scan to do this. Then I added each student to my friends and family list and they accepted my request. This allowed me to make group fast passes for the days we were together. It also allowed the small groups of kids to manipulate their passes on days we did not do things as a group.

Our orchestra went and they used a touring company...the company would not/could not do the fast passes. But I am a huge control freak and I like to do all our planning. We had 50 kids and chaperones but then we also had a lot of families travel down as well since we could get them reduced price park tickets.

I made our group air reservations through Southwest them I used the Disney Youth Group Office to book our hotel, workshop, tickets, and performance. Then I reserved meals like the Crystal Palace Character breakfast direct with the managers at the restaurants. This was the first time we traveled that Fast Pass Plus was available. It worked really well but did take some of the spontaneity out.

Either the teacher is lying because he/she does not want to do it or they are staying offsite and using a touring company that will not do it. Disney will let groups do it.

That is a huge group...what fun!

Thanks to everyone with kitty name suggestions. My husband is insistent Yeti is the name unless he hears something that convinces him otherwise. Thus far, no one has convinced him. Even Tribble didn't work. I suppose Yeti has a bit of a Disney connection, right? What is the name folks here have given the Yeti on EE?

The more our plans come together, the more scheduling FP seems like an afterthought. Aria isn't tall enough to go on Soarin', and Amara really wants to try TT - we haven't been since they changed the ride. So I was thinking I'd have FP for those two and do the rider swap? I haven't bothered with rider swap since the trip where my husband and Amara went on Stitch's Great Escape, got off, and told me not to bother. Amara still complains about that ride and it was at least seven years since she went on it.

I think Yeti is a really cute name! My daughters each got one of those Yeti balls in the EE gift shop a couple of years ago. Just to clarify, a yeti ball is a stuffed animal that is shaped like a ball so it's fun to toss around. My daughter just said Yeti is a really cute name for a cat too.

I think Yeti is going to stick. He's maybe a bit affectionate for a Yeti. Poor guy, he went from a hoarding situation to being in a kennel to being in our house with four kids. That would be a system shock for anyone.

He's probably SO happy to be with a family! That makes me so happy:) Those Yeti balls are cute and cuddly, so maybe he's more of a Yeti ball -lol.

Right after I posted that last reply my daughter reminded me that they have yeti kitty stuffed animals at that EE gift shop (or at least they have for years...I think they still do). So funny!

We would like to be added to the list. BC May 15-22! First time trying CL!

:welcome: back!

Will do.

:cool1:

We got back home to Delaware last night after driving for two days, traffic was horrible. I also seem to be suffering from Leaving Disney Depression. Our first trip to the BC was outstanding. Beautiful new room on the 4th floor with a balcony and daybed and the best view ever in my opinion! We had room 4567, just perfection! Not sure when we'll be back again, this was our first trip to Disney in 7 years, but we are definitely not waiting that long! My husband was even looking at the bounce back offer and he was the one who was reluctant about this trip. When we do come back (hopefully in a year or two) we will be back to the BC. My kids, myself, and my husband were so impressed, no other resort will do! (Well, maybe GF, haha, but not on teachers salaries!) thanks everyone for all of your help and hopefully I'll be planning our next visit to BC soon.

Glad you had a great trip!!!

:goodvibes:

Can someone please report about the weather there the past few days? Headed there soon and the forecast looks like rain everyday- but its said that for almost a week already! Thank you

:welcome: to the thread!!!

Others have replied with weather reports.

:)

We just got back from vacation yesterday...figured I would post a review before heading back to a busy work week tomorrow. Here are a few thoughts. We stayed at the Yacht Club April 3-11.

*snip*

Once again, thank you for the thoughts about your stay, both while you were there and the very detailed review here.

May I add this to the reviews on the front page? It is really helpful for future guests to read about others' experiences, especially comparisons to other resorts they may be familiar with.

Thanks, again!

:thumbsup2

We are checking into the Beach Club Tuesday for 3 days!!!

We are in disney because of a work conference for my husband and staying at the swan hotel. On Tuesday we were supposed to switch to Coronado but after a little bit of persuasion I convinced him that we needed to stay at beach club!!!!!

:welcome: and nice job pulling the resort switch! Have a great trip!!!

Hello! We'll be coming back to the YC this summer. Just booked a AP rate for Poly 7/6 - 7/11, offsite 1 nite to visit family and then to the YC for 7/12 - 7/17! Have to end our stay at the YC since it's my favorite and I feel the most relaxed there. I'm looking forward to seeing the Frozen fireworks from SAB, movie night with Epcot fireworks, etc. So, please add me to the Be Our Guest List!

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:woohoo:

At this time next week we will be at the airport waiting to board our flight!! Can't wait to be at BC again!! I can't believe vacation is only a week away. Soon excited :stitch:

:banana::banana::banana:

DD10 and I will be traveling lightly. One medium-sized suitcase each. And I have a feeling we'll be buying more gifts and paraphernalia than will fit in our bags on our return flight. I assume the best way to get that stuff home is to ship it. What's the best way to ship from the Beach Club? Do I need to use the business center at the YC? Can the front desk or main lobby concierge desk help me ship stuff? I'll need to get boxes and packing material, too. Thanks for any help.

Several years ago, we shipped a wooden rifle we had purchased at MK to home from the BC gift shop. They must have had all the packing equipment we needed, or maybe they boxed it up at point of purchase. I can't remember which. There was also something about Florida sales tax not being charged if we shipped items home (perhaps sales tax is based on where it is being shipped) but again, it was awhile ago so I am foggy on the details, and the rules may have changed.

:)

Hey Dee - got my Beaches and Cream ADR! It will be an early dinner on our last day before the dreaded Magical Express pick up.

FANTASTIC!!!

:cheer2:

This time tomorrow we should be flying to Orlando. :yay:We're really looking forward to getting back to the Beach Club. We have a very laid back trip planned. I want to do some exploring. We've never set foot in either a value or moderate resort and I've always wanted to see what some of them looked like. Thursday's plan is to walk to HS, ride a few rides, then head over to Art of Animation to check it out. Then we'll take the Generation Gap bridge to Pop Century. I have to see these oversize icons for myself. They look huge in pictures.

HI! First time on the thread, we will be first time guests at BC memorial day weekend :)
I received a letter yesterday stating they will be under construction during our stay. How much can I expect this to effect us? I will be 35 weeks pregnant and my toddler still takes afternoon naps. Any suggestions on what to do as far as room requests?

We used to do this same thing when they had prizes at the arcades! We'd start off at Pop, play in the arcade, walk over to AoA and have lunch in the food court! Then play more in the AoA arcade and redeem the points for prizes. My kids loved this. And we thought it was fun seeing the 2 resorts and hanging around them for a bit.

Have fun on your trip!

I don't think you have too much to worry about the construction. They are working on rooms and hallways, from the top floor down and are currently on the third floor. We have not heard that there will be any work on the lobby as part of this refurbishment. Every effort is being taken to minimize any disruption to guests while the rehab is taking place.

Best bet to be away from any construction continues to be to request "Upper Floor, please" Also please be aware that only about 50% of the rooms at the Beach Club have a full balcony, the rest have smaller Juliet balconies, so if this is important to you, you should add "Full balcony, please" to your room request.

We do our best to keep the very first post on first page of this thread updated with current refurbishment news.

WoodNymph....you should definitely check out Port Orleans Riverside one night and see the YeeHaw Bob show in the River Roost. I think he still performs Weds-Sun. We loved that resort...it's very nice and relaxing.

So glad to hear that you are having a great time so far!!!

I can help you with a trip report when you get back. There is a Trip Report subforum here on the DIS, and you can post a link to it here when you have started. I can give you tips on format and posting pictures.

:surfweb:
Thanks for the offer of help. I'm back home and sorting through photos. Can you guide me to some good trip reports and how to do it and I'll get started.
Also want to ask how I send in positive feedback about cast members - have a list of name for BC resort but also various dining locations on the property.

DH's brother raves about YeeHaw Bob but we've never seen him. We have Saturday night open. Do you know what time he performs?
