You will love being able to walk to Epcot. :cool1:
Do you guys also walk to the Studios? Or is that just a pain?

I will have a scooter, but my guys (husband and son(19)) will be walking. I've read numerous threads about how far it is, but how far does it feel?

We will be at Beach Club Villas in December 14 - 19.

Like everyone else, I was anxiously awaiting the BC Club Level renovation pictures. After many attempts during our August trip to peek through the construction walls and door, I was so excited to finally see the results! I have to say I love the new layout from what I can see of it...so roomy!

But, at the risk of being flamed to death, I am not thrilled with the new color scheme.....I am hoping that the mustardy walls and modern dark cabinetry is not a preview of what we can expect in the rooms. Blah. Was really hoping they would keep with the light blue, green, painted white, ocean-y, "cottage" theming they have always had. (Although I do love the swirly blue countertops!) I agree it is beautiful, but it kind of looks like something that should be in the Contemporary. I have grown up on the New England shore, and I feel like they've missed the mark on this one. There are lots of ways to be upscale and updated and still keep the relaxed, beachy theme.

However, I am sure Teena is right and you can't get the feel of the lounge through the pictures....maybe as more pictures are released I'll get a better sense of what it's like in there and my opinion will change. Hopefully I'll be wow'd when I actually see it next summer, just not what I was expecting I guess. Hate to be a bummer but just my opinion, wondering if anyone shares it? Or am I alone in this one???:)

No flames here, I totally agree. The space was desperately needed, but the colors and theme don't seem at all like the Beach Club. I was just saying over on the CL thread that it looks more like the breakfast station at a Hilton Garden Inn to me. I'm very glad they enlarged, but I feel they've lost touch with the look and feel of the BC with their color choices. Sea green, ocean blue, white woodwork, etc, is what I envisioned. If they renovated rooms are going to follow this new color palette then the entire theme of the resort is lost.

Another possible explanation: When I stayed at the BWI this summer several of the CL CMs told me the management was very disappointed with the job the contractor did with the new colors of the Innkeeper's Club. In fact two of the CMs told me the lounge received the wrong carpet and drapes so everything was going to be redone. If this is true then possibly the contractor who is doing these refurbs is not in touch with the true themes of these resorts. I don't know. Just a speculation.

We always walk to Studios. It's a pleasant walk (unless it is really hot out in summer, then it is a pleasant but incredibly hot, melt you in your shoes walk ;)). It's just under a mile, depending on your exact starting point at YC/BC. With your dates, should be perfect walking weather. The only times it has seemed anything but fun were either rainy days or after super late nights when we'd be going strong at parks all day. On those nights, we have opted to wait for the boat to get back to the resort.

We find the walk enjoyable and scenic. We have also found sometimes it quicker to take a stroll than to wait for the boat.

Well all our plans changed this week LOL so now we will be at BC Feb 28 - Mar 7 :) It will be me, dh, still waiting confirmation from MIL (if not her then my 20yo daughter), ds (14) and her highness DD (7).

I am the only one who has ever been to WDW resort before. My DH and MIL are from California so they grew up in Disneyland. This will be a first for them all but me LOL

We have walked to the studios, but don't usually. What we regularly do is take the boat to the studios. Then we take the boat back, but get off at the Swan and Dolphin and then walk to either the Boardwalk or Epcot.

Lucky you going in Dec! What fun to be there when WDW is all decorated for the holidays. :goodvibes

I'll have to see what the guys think of walking. I hate to make the decision for them to walk when I am riding.

I am so excited about going and seeing the decorations. :santa: Oh, and Mickey. :yay:

We stay at the YC. We walk frequently, especially in the morning (we like to go for rope drop). If we see a boat has just left as we get there, we walk because we'll probably beat the next boat. If a boat is about to pull into the dock, we take the boat. We are 2 adults, late 50s, no real health issues. It takes us about 15- 20 minutes to walk from the YC door. We walk a little slower if it's really hot & humid. I would add about 5-10 minutes from BCV. We walk over the S&D bridge. From BCV, depending on your room location, you might find it quicker to take the Boardwalk bridge & go that way instead.

We are booked for the Beach Club CL June 6 - June 13. First time returning to WDW since 2009. We stayed at POR last time and decided to splurge a little for my daughter's 16th bday....

One question...can't seem to find a link to pics of the refurbished Concierge Lounge at the Beach Club...any links?

DH and I always walk. We prefer it. With the shortcut through the BW pool area it takes us about 15 minutes. IT is along the water and so calm and peaceful

We shall see, but I have a suspicion the color palette will be in the navy blue to ocean blue family with some yellow. I think if done correctly it will look nice.

We shall see. Have seen 4 BC renovations over the years. Hope it is good this time too!

OK ... I have a few questions I hope its ok to plough on in. We're close to our trip now :-) Much needed after an absolutely grime time at work and escaping redundancy by the skin of my teeth a few weeks ago. We had our "dream" trip booked to WL, celebrating 2 x 40th birthdays and 15th WA, and first trip for our children. The idea of no feature pool meant the switch to BC. Only now I'm getting twitchy about the idea of construction there and wondering if its going to impact our stay ....?
Next question - I didn't realise at first that there was no food court option. So whats our best bet for breakfast, we're early risers at the best of times and I'm guessing with the time difference from the UK we're likely to have a few very early starts before we adjust. I had some faint idea I'd heard on a podcast that something was closing and something else temporarily being used for "proper" breakfast on the boardwalk. Did I imagine that?
And anything else you think a first time family with a 4&7 year old NEEDS to know :-) I've ploughed through a reasonable amount of the posts but there is so much!
thank you :-)

On the restaurant board, there is a sticky that explains the food choices for the Epcot area resorts, because so many people have the same concern you raise about no food court.

Also, temporarily, Flying Fish has breakfast because Kouzzina closed (leaving no sit down breakfast option at the Boardwalk).

brilliant thank you so much

The good news is, she would fit right in at Be Our Guest for dinner.

If you can get a ressie.

:lmao:

LOL. We've been really lucky getting reservations there. Now that I've claimed it, we'll have a wretched time getting one...

She was good there, too. Maybe it was the location. I wonder if anyone would be willing to babysit bionic baby. She comes with her own power supply and everything.

Reading that, it sounds weird. Like I have a talking Tina doll I'm dragging around with me. Here's a photo of her from this past winter wearing the Minnie hat I knitted for her. If I'd known how cold it would be in Florida when we were there, I'd have brought it along.

Oooh! The gall of some people. My friend bought Frozen magic bands and put their grey tragic bands in his bag. He lost his little boy's band (but didnt realise) and now, there are photos appearing on his Memory Maker of various rides they have not been on. Scrutiny of said photos shows the same family in each photo!!!! Seems someone has picked up the band and not bothered to hand it in to a CM.

It has now been de-activated.

That makes me so sad. Some people are just terrible...

Oh, she us just adorable! Love her! :)

Guys, is there body lotion supplied by the Beach Club? Can you request more if you run out? Does it smell good?

I'm trying to cut down on my packing!

Body lotion is in the rooms, it's the H2O brand, last few times I've stayed regular it's been a grapefruit bergamot fragrance, I can't remember if club level is a different fragrance or not.
