I just looked at BWV and saw the points needed for our usual October stay are the same...not sure about any other times or resorts

Huge jump for Treehouse Villas at SSR

Yes, no more "3 bedrooms for the price of 2!". I am glad to see decreases in studios, for example. I thought the points should be lower than originally. We do love the Treehouses, however?

I'm a little disappointed to see the THV points go up, we had always talked about trying them out but never did. Now I'm not so sure they're worth the extra points. It also seems like they extended the Magic season to now include all of April but other than that I don't see a lot of big changes.

How is it that just about everything went up at BLT and nothing went down?

I have not investigated, but as an example, if they decreased the number of MK view rooms (ie now they are 6th floor and up instead of 4th), then they have to raise some rooms, or raise everything evenly to compensate for the extra points those rooms used..

We did when they were the same point cost as a 2 bedroom! :rolleyes1

I agree that Treehouse point increase really benefits the studio points and 1 bdrm to some degree, too.

All in all, I'm not too distressed about the change for our home at SSR.

BWV and AKV are the same! Yippeee :cool1:

Let the planning continue!

I was right ;). I just saw the news story. "The adjustments at BLT chart stem from a scheduled reassignment of 10 rooms from Theme Park view to Standard view effective Jan 1 2013"

So the points jumped thanks to member feedback (complaints) about some marginal theme park views.

The story only mentions SSR (for THV) and BLT changes

Ok, a little bummed because we had hoped to book a THV in 2013, but happy that studios and 1br, which will will use more often, are cheaper. Good changes overall!

I noticed that our stay the end of April this year is the same number of points in 2013 we are staying in a lake view studio...didn't compare other size villas dates to see where the points have gone down

They moved 10 villas from Theme Park to Standard view. That means each of those 10 rooms will cost fewer points every single night of the year. In order to compensate, costs on some nights went up.

Bottom line is this: Starting in 2013 you will be able to get a room that was formerly classified as Theme Park View--with a much higher cost--for Standard View points. That's where the savings come into play.

Also the inventory of SV rooms is increasing, making those more accessible to owners.

If DVC reclassified 10 BLT Vacation Homes from Theme Park to Standard View, then I suspect that the Theme Park Villas will start on the 5th floor. Previously, the Theme Park Views started as low as the 3rd floor.

That would be a fun math problem to determine if they are talking about 10 2br equivalent units or 20 total room numbers.

Also to answer the question. Yes, Disney used Excel to make the point charts. In properties: "Acrobat PDFMaker 8.1 for Excel"
