2013, February 24 - Disney Dream

I believe Disney provides towels but I like a huge thick towel so I will bring my own! ;).

Suggestion.....I love collecting DCL logo towels and they sell a variety of full size beach towels onboard. I always buy one as a souvenir the first time the shop is open and use it onboard all cruise. I like a full sized pool/beach towel over the ones they offer by the pool (small). They are easy to pack to take home and make a great souvenir!!

They are regular thickeness so if you like a really thick one you are better off bringing your own.

Kristin and my 2 boys: 16 and 11

Do we need dressy clothes? I don't mind bringing dresses for me and DD, but dressy clothes for the boys are harder and means packing more shoes... =/

This is our first cruise but I believe dress is cruise casual (church type). Does anyone know if there is a semi formal night? I have planned to dress up this way for one night either way! Lol! I love to dress up and never get to. Ill be the odd ball walking around in a black cocktail dress! :) oh and don't forget pirate night! I will also be the adult in a pirate costume! Haha!

What's your room # for those of us who have made a few extras? Also you must come to out meet/greet at 3pm in vista lounge..that's for everyone on our board to say hello!we'll make her feel special!

I am still waiting to be assigned a number. I will post it as soon as I get it.
If anyone who has extra surprises made would send me their cabin numbers I will make sure I get them surprises too. The Disney Magic is so awesome!!!
We will be at the meet and great just in case I get my cabin number really late.
Thank you all who are willing to include us. :cheer2:

I have two questions. Which night is the "dress up" night? I know I have read is somewhere but now I can't find it. My other question is how long can you stay on the ship on the last morning? We have family picking us up and they can"t get to us until around 9:30. Thanks for any help!

To Jenn and other first timers:

Disney generally does the Formal (optional) night on the sea day for dinner. For this cruise, that should be on Wed night (but not confirmed so don't hold me to that). Many people like to really dress up (you haven't lived until you have seen Mickey, Minnie, Donald in formal wear - I once saw Chip & Dale on the dance floor in White Tie and Tails! pixiedust:

However, I have also dined on Formal night in the dining rooms w/ tablemates wearing casual clothing...do not stress over this! If you plan to dine in Palo or Remy, it is generally considered more upscale, but even so, dressing "nicely" does not mean a tux and ball gown (unless you want to).

You won't be the only one in a cocktail dress (my DD24's "cruise rules" dictate that we must dress up every night!); and, don't be surprised to see LOTS of adults dressed up as Pirates!! (I am pretty low key, but have even known adults to go to the Bibbidy Bobbidy Boutique found on the Disney Fantasy just to become pirates! Disney Dream does not have a BBB so you are on your own). pirate:

Looking forward to seeing everyone "out and about" onboard!

Thank you!! Yes DD(3) has her mermaid costume (pirates are not princesses mommy) and we practiced her make up today! Lol! Thank you for the great info! :)

Personally we aren't bringing formal clothing, maybe a sundress, etc..finally finished our pathetic looking FE's...lol. I am so not creative....

I had more fun making the gifts than the darn FE! Lol

Went out to buy new luggage at Walmart tonite..another nightmare..you know the same guy that runs the greeting card dept also runs the luggage dept..amazing.. But I needed to get a good size piece with no real substance to it,,didn't want anything heavy and boy they do not disappoint! Lol

Does anyone think we'll need bug spray this time of year.. I hope ocean s about 80 degrees

Ellen

Another question about the carry on luggage....we have a board time of noon, so i was planning on doing the wear bathingsuits and have the girls swim and maybe have lunch...do we have to tot the carry ons around with us until after 1.30? so they need to fit under a deck chair as well?

Thanks!

DD4 and DD6 are super excited, every day is waking up to ..."is it time to cruise yet"?

pirate:

PS they had to go to Party City and buy pirate costumes for pirate night..so I uess there are Princess Pirates after all....

Hi All!
This is my first Disney Cruise which is really crazy considering that I moved from NJ just to work for the company. I'm celebrating my triplet boys' 8th birthday (they turn 8 on the 22nd!), so I'm thinking it would be super fun to meet another CM with triplets too! What an amazingly lucky person that CM is to have a friend who would want to do something special for them! The company is full of people like that who become extended family and just plain love each other.
Hope we get to meet some of you! I'll be the half-crazed/half-frazzled looking mom with three boys who love the word, "Moooooommmmmmm"
Dana
Oh, we're on Deck 8 for now. :beach:

Wow, three 8 year old boys, sounds like you have a busy household. Do you know your stateroom number and I'll drop something off while onboard?

I know a few of you gals are running the 1/2 marathon this weekend before boarding. Just wanted to send my best for a great race and look forward to seeing those medals.:cheer2:

I wish I could have convinced DD of pirate princesses! Lol! I kept showing her the pink pirate costumes and she was set on being a mermaid! :)

We had a massive problem with our flight that luckily my DH caught before we showed up at the airport. Unfortunately, the cost to fix it was basically everything that I'd saved by getting our resort room on sale. That sucks. It's kind of bringing me down, but I just have to remember that it doesn't matter, its just money, and my kids are going to have a blast!

BTW, don't ever use Expedia! What a nightmare!

I'm going to Target and CVS for a few last minute things and then I'm going to start packing.

I'm going to bring my Metrokane Champagne cork, I think. That way, I can just buy a bottle of overpriced Korbel, or two, and it will work for the week. I'm still nursing, so I can't drink a lot and I like mimosas!

Thanks heather for everything! Looking fwd to meeting you at the sail away party at 3pm at Vsta Lounge!

It was so great to hear about the water temp..
I'm already wishing it was a 7 day cruise!...oh we'll, next time

Started filling the suitcases tonight! Yippee..got my FE's done...hehehe

Bye for now
Ellen
