*2013* epcot food & wine festival 9/27-11/11

Am I correct that we CANNOT CANCEL any of these reservations (e.g. Scotland, Land of Food and Drink)??

I.e. If I get greedy and manage to book "reserved seating" tomorrow morning, will I NOT be able to cancel my "standard seating" res I made today?

I know... I'll more than be able to live with standard... can't help but wonder... :rolleyes1

Is Disney Dining still open? IF so and you feel you were mislead today, call, ask for a supervisor and complain NOW. Get them to agree to 'refund' you IF you get what you really wanted. (i am on the west coast and don't remember the times)

If it's too late for that, and I had been 'pressured' into booking due to the "sold announcement" I would call tomorrow and when they say "what you want is now avaialble" I would probably ask for a supervisor and start pitching a FIT about the "deception" Option two for me might be book the 'new seat' and then ask for a supervisor. Explain that you received false information yesterday and you are sure Disney will make it right. When they say no, say then you will file a complaint with the credit card and possibly with the BBC for deceptive sales techniques.

Not sure this will work, but...

I have a question for all the experts out there. I successfully booked two signature events today. Very happy about that. But I was definitely charged tax on both event admissions. Yet it clearly states on WDW's official F&W site "Tax and Gratuity Included." What gives? Should I be calling about this or were we all charged tax?

All events are "$xxx.xx plus tax, gratuity included". We always pay tax on top of the initial charge. If it's worded "tax & gratuity included", it's wrong.

that's interesting, I just checked the official site and you are right, it says that it is included. For example, for the Mexican Tequila lunch is says:

La Hacienda de San Angel
Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays
12:00 PM to 1:30 PM
$75 per Guest

Admission to Epcot is required and not included in the price of the event. Tax and gratuity are included.

But everything else I have seen says that gratuity is included, but not tax - and I was definitely charged tax when I reserved today.

On Disneyfoodblog it says (for the same event):
Pricing: $75 per person, plus tax. Gratuity included. Epcot admission required.

I think the Disney Website is just wrong :confused3

I suspect Disney IT got it wrong. I have taken a screenshot of the statement and am going to send an email this evening requesting adjustments for the 4 events I booked this morning. What's that email address for guest satisfaction again??

And, after this past few days I am not the least bit surprised by this!

You are right, the Disney website says "tax and gratuity included" but the taxes have always been charged and gratuity has always been included in the price.

I suppose we could all rise up and revolt! :rotfl:

Sorry, I don't have the answer for this right off the top of my head, but don't y'all feel like a lot of complaints are about to be sent to this email address??? Between the epic fail of booking this year and the variances in information that has been posted, I bet there will be lots of complaints. And there should be.

Really hoping I can get the 1 event I want tomorrow morning (4am on this coast!). It used to be 2 events, but decided to bypass one in lieu of more $$$ for the festival! There is only 1 that I want but if I don't get it, I am certainly not going to whine & complain about how unfair Disney is!! :rolleyes1

Some people are acting like there are only these events and forgetting about all those little booths they will have!! If not getting PFTS reserved seats are going to ruin your trip, you should prob go somewhere else less stressful.

Lighten up!! Its still a Disney vacation that millions of people are not fortunate enough to be able to afford....... Just sayin' :goodvibes

It is Disney. We should just be grateful they let us spend our money there :confused3

This system is completely screwed up, but Disney can do no wrong :cheer2: after all they just lied to you to get you to spend money on something you didn't want, but,,,, that's ok

LOL

I've been on hold for 15 minutes. I really love Disney, but I'm feeling slightly irritated about the Sweet Seats issue and the fact that Disney's own website says tax and gratuity included, but I was charged tax nonetheless (on one event, but not the other :sad2:).

I can't imagine that I'm going to get much help after 10 p.m. But I'd really like a little idea of what I'm going to be dealing with if I try to "upgrade" to the sweet seats tomorrow.

I think next year I am skipping the special events and just going to enjoy the booths. It's not worth the trouble when Disney makes it so hard to book!

Good luck to everyone tomorrow!

I am so on board with this that I am doing it this year - gonna enjoy the booths. This is my first F&W.

I have had 1 bad experience with Disney special events hotline - NOT...FUN! I got in, put on hold and was sold out ~ CM didn't have all the information and I was put on hold at least three times. I was super disappointed because it was the one and only thing I wanted to do - consequently I have learned to just avoid situations like that because with the time difference and then the whole CM not knowing left from right, it was just a bad experience.

So for all of you getting up tomorrow to make your ressies - pixiedust:

Just got off the phone with Disney. Supervisor told Cm that all the Sweet Seats were released this morning. I'm sure we'll know by tomorrow if that is true, but I'm sure its very possible.

The tax and gratuity thing is just wrong. I just don't know how else to read it, but the way it is written on Disney's own website.

I'm planning to call bright & early at 7am, but I also want to check out the online site in case I can get that done faster. Does anyone know where online booking can be done tomorrow morning? Is it the same link that's used to make regular dining reservations? https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/#/reservations-accepted

Or will it be somewhere on this page? https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/events-tours/epcot/epcot-international-food-and-wine-festival/

I definitely want to book a few deminars. I haven't made up my mind about general admission for PFTS, 3D Disney's Dessert Discovery, or Sweet Sundays. I would only book one of those three. It's my first year at F&W, so I'm having a hard time figuring out which would be the best experience for me.

Thanks in advance!
Shelli

I have the opposite problem to many of you - will be calling from Australia so going to have to stay up late tonight to make the call :)

If it is anything like the jam on the phones when the free DDP was released I may be nodding off on hold again :surfweb:

Hope everyone gets what they are after when booking tomorrow :)

Definitely do this! I have been told Disney will make it right and that not all seats were released today. Based on everything I've seen and heard today I find it hard to believe they released everything today. They gave incorrect info, they should be held accountable.

It won't ruin my trip if I don't get reserved seating for PFTS, but I would just have liked to have all the info in order to be able to make a decision on what I wanted to do.

Also send an email letting them know what happened. That is what I'm planning on doing but I want to see how tomorrow goes first.

I am pretty disappointed and a bit mad that PFTS was available thru Chase today. My understanding was that only seminars were available today. I would have called this morning if I knew this. Guess I have to try in the morning.

As a PAP, I'm a bit disappointed they didn't give us the extra day pre-sale they gave to credit card holders. Guess I'll add one more credit card to the ' have and use once a year list.' Ridiculous but I'll do it.
In past years, I never worried about booking early and have always gotten exactly what we wanted regardless of when we booked and that included PFTS, Sweet Sundays and more. From all these prior posts, I'm beginning to believe that I just got extremely lucky! Oh well, guess I'll be up before 6a central time tomorrow.

I can understand why Disney Chase holders got a pre-sale date. After all they are a big sponsor for F&W.
In the non-Disney world, a lot of concerts have presale dates that are open to certain credit cards. We got our granddaughter tickets to One Direction through a credit card presale and very decent seats - the credit card that was sponsoring the event.
I was very glad they gave us cardholders a break, as last year when I called on the regular date bookings were open (sweet seats for the 3D dessert discovery party were only available by phone), I had got an all circuits busy for the first two hours that bookings were open (started trying about 2 minutes before the start time with two different phones), then finally got through only to be told that there was a 90 minute hold, and after about 2 hours on hold, I got cut off and had to start the process all over again. Finally got connected to a person at 1pm central time and found out that the sweet seats for both of the two days that would work for us were sold out. Glad I didn't have to repeat that again this year as I got in right away with a little over 30 min. hold time and got my first choice for Sweet Seats 3D. We now have to figure out our Disney stay and book it as I was waiting to see which if any of the Sweet Seats 3D parties I could get. Very nice perk for Disney Visa holders!
Also, love the new location for the Chase lounge - right in the middle of the food booths at the American Adventure pavillion. No more having to traipse back to the front of the park to rest & cool down and then traipse back again to finish eating our way around the world!
