*2013* epcot food & wine festival 9/27-11/11

Were they doing wristbands for Illuminations? Eat to the Beat? If so, what was the procedure? I read elsewhere they're not doing it like last year...

No wristbands today, but the cast member told me other days they will have them? I will check tomorrow. Tonight the lounge closed from 5-7 for a special VIP event for Chase so we never made it in.

I have not seen the pictures or these actual food items but I did feel the pineapple fritters were a fabulous deal from there- you got two large rings of pineapple battered and fried for the $1.99. The amount for the dole whip from there was also decent for the price so you may have a pretty good chance of it being actually small meal sized.

They included French fries too. They looked like a small entree size...probably enough to satisfy light appetite.

It actually has it as chicken and French fries or shrimp and French fries. Didn't order it - but it looked like a small entree size - bigger then a sample for sure.

Great. Thanks so much for the report! I'm a sucker for anything that combines the words "chicken" and "fried," so I'm glad to hear it should be good for a small meal (which is probably all I'll need for dinner - we're supposed to eat lunch at beaches and cream that day, which should keep me pretty full!). May have to try the pineapple fritters for dessert, too - DH loves pineapple, and I of course love the "fried" part. ;) And french fries are always a bonus!

Looking forward to hearing about the breakfast - Chefs de France correct?? We are going Oct 5 :cool1:

We went in the front gate at 8:30 and walked back to France stopping at some of the stands to look at the menus again. They stopped us at the bridge to France and we all waited until about 8:55 when they let us in and checked everyone's reservation. We were seated about 9:05 and everyone was in within 15 minutes. They filled just about all the seats and you will most likely sit with other people. They took mimosas out to the people near the end of the line. Very cool.

There were great pastries and some sandwiches. The GM came out and welcomed everyone and gave a background to the breakfast and told us that there was a bakery out back where they bake all the stuff. he came around and talked to everyone then. There were unlimited mimosas - they came around with OJ and champagne and filled your glasses. Very enjoyable.

My wife didn't want to stay in Epcot for a F&W Saturday so we went to AK after breakfast. We're going back today though and since we're here for a month we will be there several more times.

There is Unibroue. Not at the Canada Food Booth but at a separate beer stand just a little way past the food booth. I took this picture Thursday evening so the lighting isn't great. la Fin du Monde, Ephemere Cherry and Trois Pistoles

Thanks. I'll look for that today. One of the CMs at Canada told me there was none. He was probably just talking about Canada. I have gotten it as take out at Le Cellier before though.

Back at Epcot for more food today. The World Showcase was insane by about 3pm yesterday. I left around 6 because I was tired and having some hip pain. Most of the food has been good. I did however discover that I do not like ouzo....but at least I tried it, right?

Totally recommend pineapple fritters...7 and 11 year olds gobbled them up. Just don't wear dark shirt... Powdered sugar shows up really well!

I will be at F&W for 5 hours tomorrow night with 2, 3 or 4 other people (not all have decided if they are going). I am trying to plan a strategy, but I can't find guide that I am able to download. (The link in the first post of this thread does not work for me.) Does anyone have a link to a map or a printable version of the menus?

Also, for you vets, what are your not-to-be-missed items?

Looking forward to posting about my experience when I return.

TIA!

We went late in the afternoon and didn't inquire about the wristbands.

Yes- this morning, they have choices of wristbands for either illuminations or any of the three shows for Disney Chase members. But, she indicated it won't be all the time. So check to be sure.

The ggogle play store had an app for the Foodand Wine festival but lastest version I see is for last year. Touring plans has a Disney World Menus app that has a separate section under EPCOT for the festival and seems complete for 2013. It is $0.99

We don't have a ton of must dos, but do live the Fisherman's Pie at Ireland

What exactly does the Illuminations wristband get you - I assume reserved seating or watching area, but where?

Sorry if this has been asked, but what time does the chase lounge open in the america pavilion? Or where ever the illuminations bracelets are :)

Did you actually have to have a Disney Chase card to get a wrist band? I know they let all Chase cardholders in, but do they restrict these?

Also, if anyone uses a wristband for a concert, I'm interested to know if the reserved seating is in the same place as last year...

So glad you mentioned this!!!!!!!!!! I looked up the Google play store app and they updated it for 2013 today. I had the QR link to the FWF mobile site, but this is going to be easier on the battery. Super excited!!!!!

Thought folks would like to know. The one I found was by Code For Travel & does include $ when you select each item.

Food & Wine App for Android from Google Play store.

Is there a list of f and w items available on the snack part of dining plan ?

Yeah, it's pretty much any food and wine kiosk item that's not alcohol. This can be an especially good deal since some of the food an wine items are $6-$7+ and the usual cutoff for snacks is like $4-$5.
