Day 6 – OKW – Hoop Dee Doo (1)
Our final morning at Hilton BC, started off with a coffee in the room and a browse of our complimentary newspaper. There was not much packing to be done, since we had pre-planned our stay and used all of our clothes from one suitcase. A final sweep of the room and we finally checked out at 11:00.
Since we were moving to OKW and 21 days of DDP, we decided to wait until after checking in before we ate. It took two journeys to the multi-storey car park to transfer all of the luggage and ten minutes later we were entering OKW for our three weeks stay.
We recognized the security guard from our previous two visits and were directed towards Hospitality House. Check in was quick and after requesting accommodation on Millers Road we were surprisingly allocated room number 2126 – the same room as our stay in 2011. Attached to our reservation was acknowledgement for tonight’s ADR at Hoop Dee Doo. This had been pre-booked by Wayne for our party of 14 guests and so was deducted from our dining credits. We headed to our room and it seemed like we had never been away. After transporting the luggage to the room, we headed straight over to Port Orleans Riverside for our first taste of this years dining plan.
Nigel: Make Your Own Pasta – Strawberry Cheesecake – Monster drink.
Sue: Fish Basket – Strawberry Cheesecake – Orange Juice.
Emma: Cajun Chicken Sandwich – Chocolate Cake – Water.
During lunch we bumped into Martin (burt), Wendy and their family who had just arrived to eat. Our next stop was a visit to Walmart on SR535 to collect some supplies (water and beer!) and then returned back to OKW. The task of unpacking our luggage was followed by shower and change of clothes.
We all met up at Millers Road bus stop for the journey to Magic Kingdom, where we continued our journey by a very crowded boat to Fort Wilderness. We waited outside as the queues got bigger and finally reached the front of check-in. For the second time today it was another case of déjà vu. We were seated at exactly the same tables as last year, only this time it wasn’t Gloria who queried the table rearrangements! Food and drink were the usual offerings, although our server did not seem as prominent as in previous years.
90 minutes soon passed and before we knew it, we had waved our napkins, played our washboards and were making our way back to the awaiting bus. True to form, the driver got serenaded on the journey home and even joined in to begin with, however as the volume got louder he wisely headed to Millers Road bus stop for the first drop, much to the relief of the rest of the passengers. We did our traditional group photo inside the bus shelter with the aid of a trashcan as a make shift tripod.
We said our goodbyes and on the way back to our rooms we had a look around the now empty pool area.
Abi was standing a little close to the edge of the pool, however this couldn’t have been close enough since Martin had to help her the extra few yards ending with an almighty splash! It was now time for bed since tomorrow would see the start of our attack on the parks and another dining plan extravaganza.
Coming up next – Magic Kingdom – Portobello Restaurant.
