If anyone is still interested in running the 2012 NWM, hurry to check out their facebook page. In honor of them reaching 50,000 fans, they've opened up extra spaces for Nike+ members. Looks like you can still sign up to be a member, if you are not one now. First come, First serve.

Liz!!! You had to go and post this didn't you!!!:goodvibes I got sucked by the necklace again and just signed up. Did you register again for this year? Guess I better start training for those tiny little hills again.

I was already to sign up and talked myself out of it. Hopefully I will make the lottery next year. Good luck!

Hi Kim,:wave2:

I didn't get into the lottery this year either. It was just a fluke chance that I went on the website. I was so shocked, I didn't even read all of the instructions. I just started clicking before the website said "too late". So. thanks to your generosity last year, I can have more bling.

Tiny little hills...chocolate...tiny little hills...Tiffany necklace...tiny little hills...chocolate...

I almost did this too, but decided to hope for next year as well.

Hi Cheshirepixie, Hopefully you will have good luck entering next year! Have you run it before?

Is anyone going to try for the 2013 inaugural DC race?

Are they officially going to have the 2013 DC race? I thought it was still in talks. I definitely want to do that one.

I also had started to sign up for the race and then changed my mind. Logistically, it would be a nightmare to plan for a trip to San Francisco with such short notice. But, hopefully the group gets picked next year. I was told by a Nike rep that your odds are much better if people in your group want to do the Marathon over the Half because it isn't nearly as popular. After looking at the course map, I can see why. :scared: But, I will try it anyway.

I believe I saw on their facebook page that they had picked an official date for the 2013 DC race. Dont remember what it was though.

You are right! :thumbsup2 I looked at their page and saw that someone had posted information about it. It is 4/28/13 and apparently registrations opens sometime in October. You can sign up to receive a notification with more details. I really need to get my 2013 calendar out. Have to make sure I don't miss this one. Maybe this is the start of many more locations!

I would love to do that one, but next year I have WDW/Tink in Jan and the NYC so $ and vacation days are all gone. Maybe in '14...

They're a lot better. I think I read a few years back that it's something like 16k for the 1/2 and 4k for the full. In the 5 years that I've been entering the lotto, the only time I got in (aside for the after entry like this year and last) was when I registered for the full. And if I did my math right, I think next year is their 10th anniversary so maybe more spots or something really special!

If you're looking at doing the full, the first 1/2 is the worst of the course. There are a couple of hills on the back 1/2, but they're small, especially compared to the 1st 1/2. The 2 downsides are that you come down a big hill at the Cliff House around 10 1/2-11 and see the finish but turn into the park and then when you leave the park around 15-16 you see it again and know you have to still go most of the 2nd 1/2. The other is that the 1st kinda wears you down a bit b/c of the hills, but if you make sure you take a lot more gu/jelly bellies or whatever on the 1st 1/2 to have enough to keep going.

The big plus though is that b/c it's TnT's biggest race, there are so many little groups of people along the course and the back 1/2 cheering you on. It's not like the Disney races, but it really helps at the end. If I did the full again, knowing the course, on a few of the longer runs, I'd go to an area where I could get in 18-20 w/ a lot of hills or run a reverse negative split ~ go really hard on the 1st half and slower on the 2nd just to get my body/legs used to it.

And the back 1/2 is pretty too~ you're along the ocean for a stretch/same at the end and you go around the lake which is pretty.

Wish I could sign up for this.... it looks like an awesome women's race. Maybe next year ......

That sounds amazing. It sounds like the second half will make all the effort the first half takes worth it! I can't wait until the lottery opens again.

The full does look daunting, doesn't it. I have a long way to train before I get there, but I will cheer on all of you that can do it.:worship:

After this weekend, I would highly recommend anyone who wants to try out a Marathon to do the Air Force Marathon. It was the best experience I have ever had, even after two Disney Marathons. It wasn't too crowded, the course wasn't terribly difficult (although some thought so but most of my races have hills, so I am used to them), and mile 10 was amazing. Next year will be fairly close to the NWM, so I am hoping that inspiration will continue with me to take on all of those hills!
