we haven't been this year yet but am already looking at next years holiday. In England at the minute we can get free dining and discounted rates at SSR and OKW. We would prob go for SSR, we like the location here.
It would be me, dh, dd 1 and my mum, possibly my nephew 4 1/2 if his mum was happy for him to come away with us for 2 weeks.

We normally go to universal for 4 nights then to disney for about 10, next year we are planning to do JUST disney to save on passes and because we kind of figure with a 1 year old does it really amtter if we go to universal and sea world? We also MUCH prefer the hotels etc ondisney property,

So if we go for 14 nights, is it even worth considering upgrading to the deluxe? thinking it would be nice to do the character breakfasts and would be able to do ALL the signature dining experiences including the various dinner shows, but for 14 nights would we run out of places to go? would we be fed up of the site of food???
We like good food but we aren't "BIG" eaters, quality over quantity, but then the idea of getting to go to all the signatures? WOW!!!!
have been to artist point and narcooses so far and loved them both, did HDDR and was only ok in our opinon, although DH and I made the most of the free beer!
we would normally only do 1 or 2 character meals on a trip, but we could do all of them, suppose this would be more wothwhile if we did have our nephew with us????
sure we could manage a few lunches, no idea what we would do with 2 snacks a day?????lots of presents for ppl when we come home!!!

would you do it???

If you stuck with your plan of doing all the character meals and signatures, I do think the deluxe is a good value. There are enough signature meals and dinner shows to last 12 nights, and you could always repeat one or two. And character meals you could do more then once too, or add in a couple one TS credit meals like Kona, Sanaa, Boma, and Kouzzina.

When we did deluxe we did mostly 2 credit dinners, and then lunch. (Sometimes TS, sometimes CS). It worked out well. I wouldn't want to do three sit down meals a day, though. One 2 credit, one 1 credit, and we were quite full. We had a ton of snacks left over at the end and brought home a ton of stuff.

dluxe is too much if u are there to ride the rides , if u are a foodie go for it eat away!!

Yes, we would and did (twice) and are doing 9 nights deluxe preceeded by QSDP for 6 in 72 days!

Since you are upgrading from free dining, it does not take much, maybe to day three depending on where you go, to have gotten your money back...so if after that all you did was counter service, you'd still not be loosing money!

If you were paying for it all, it might be something to consider but upgrading from free is a no brainer!

I figured for our 9 day DDDP portion of our trip, by day 2 with where we are dining, we will have made up what we paid (upgraded from free also) so after that, even though I have all the days planned out with TS venues, we can really do whatever we want!

Given your scenario, I absolutely would do it. Using signature dining, you could use 1 snack for breakfast (or lunch). Don't forget about the Spirit of Aloha luau at the Polynesian. I thought it was cute. The food yummy and the drinks delicious. Happy eating!

it is very tempting!!!:thumbsup2
I was just htinking if we were in disney for 14 nights we wouldn't have to run round the parks to get everything done, and would have park hoppers so could go to quieter parks in the day and hop to do fireworks and fantasmic that draw in big crowds at night.
It certainly is an interesting thought!!
Other thing is that we could stay at a cheaper resort like coronado springs where you only get the quick service dining plan for free, but the upgrade price is only an extra $10 a day compared to upgrading from the regular dining plan, hmmmmmmmmm
we certainly couldn't manage 3 full meals every day but we like NICER evening meals but could never really afford to eat at the signature restaurants every night.
this definately needs some looking into hehehehehehe, just don't tell my husband!!! x x x

The regular dining plan is too much for us no way we could do deluxe.

Another vote for Deluxe! DH and I took an adults only trip in November for our anniversary, and quickly realized the value of having 2 sit down breaks during the day. I wouldn't recommend DxDP for someone new to the parks on a short trip, but for a 14 day trip with experienced travellers there is absolutely nothing like it! Stick with 2 meals a day - breakfast and an early dinner, or an early lunch and a later dinner, otherwise it is just too much. Bring gladware for snacks that you might want to take back to the room - many times we were full from breakfast or lunch, but saw a yummy snack that we picked up and enjoyed later. It is such a treat to have a signature meal each night.

Put it this way - we're going again in August, during free dining, and we are bringing my DS7, my sister, and my parents. It came down to 2 rooms at AKL with the regular DDP or sharing a cabin at Ft Wilderness and upgrading to the DxDP. My DH, who likes his space, and likes his deluxe hotels, opted to go for the DxDP again!
