2012 Dining Plan Prices and Brochure (BROCHURE REVISED 4/25/12)

We are celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary at Disney in November, 2012. I would like to dine at places we normally wouldn't go to due to cost. Is the dining plan and deluxe dining plan a bargin? I like the idea of combining meal credits to be able to go to nicer restaurants. The deluxe dinnig plan almost seems like too much food.

Any idea what the price will be for the Platinum and Premium Plan for 2012?

We're looking to add some special events to our Deluxe Dining and wonder if it will be cheaper to do OOP or upgrade to the Platinum or Premium.

Want to do a fireworks cruise, best seating at Spirit of Aloha.

We are Triple A members and have a Disney Visa, so we may get good discounts going OOP on some of these things, but just curious what the price is for these "fancy" plans. We're going to have plenty to eat on Deluxe!

First of all, the Premium and Platinum Package Plans are not Disney dining plans. They have a dining component that is similar to the Deluxe dining plan with a few significant differences (all meals at all restaurants are 1 credit, and there are several restaurants that accept Premium and Platinum that do not accept the Disney Dining Plans. Also, the Premium and Platinum packages cannot be added to DVC reservations at this time).

Yes, the Disney website lumps them all together, but it's a separate program with separate rules.

The cost of the Premium Package Plan for 2012 is $179 per night per adult and $129 per night per child.

The cost of the Platinum Package Plan (which can be added only to reservations at Deluxe resorts) is $239 per night per adult and $170 per night per child.

Starting in 2012 there is a three-night minimum for reservations including either the Premium or Platinum Packages.

Is the dining plan and deluxe dining plan a bargin?

This will completely depend on the makeup of your party and how you intend to use the plans. You will need to do some research to determine if the plans will result in a "bargain" for your party. Check the online menus, see which restaurants you would likely eat at on your trip and what you would likely pay to eat there, and check that against the cost of the plan for your party per night and the allotments you would get on each plan (if you prefer appetizers to desserts you may not want the regular plan, and if you don't order desserts at all it may not be worth it to do a dining plan; totally depends on where you'd eat.)

Hi all - hope this isn't too stupid a question, but my wife and i are planning a trip in feb and we signed up for the Deluxe DP. I see it comes with app, entree and dessert. So no salad? Or is it a given that you get a salad at all the TS restaurants???

Salads are generally not included with the entrees. Most if not all WDW restaurants do have the option to get a salad as your appetizer.

Crystal Palace (which is Disney-operated) is in the Magic Kingdom section under "A Buffet with Character at Crystal Palace" (near the bottom of the MK listing).

My 180 day mark is coming up in just a few weeks, but a few of the places that we want to eat at are not listed on the 2012 brochure yet. Does this mean that I will have to pay out of pocket now to hold my reservation or will I still be able to reserve using my dining credits? Any more news as to whether T- Rex has joined the plan? If not, how much is it to book a ressie?

You don't use dining credits to reserve anything. A dining plan is only a method of payment. You don't even have any dining credits to spend until you check in to your resort and receive your key cards.

The only reason you would have to leave any payment at the time you make the reservation is if you are booking a prepaid reservation (CRT or dinner shows) or you are leaving a credit card guarantee for a reservation, and you must use a credit card for that, not dining credits (a credit card guarantee is not a payment. Your card will be charged only if you don't cancel the reservation and don't show up). If you want to book CRT or a dinner show and avoid prepayment you must have a dining plan on your resort reservation. Even then, you are not using the credits to pay for the meal until you actually arrive at the restaurant.

You can reserve any restaurant you want and pay later with dining credits if the restaurant accepts them.

T-Rex has never accepted the dining plans (only the premium and platinum package plans). While we don't have a final list, we can assume they won't accept them in 2012, although there are rumors around about extra DTD restaurants joining the dining plan next year (right now they're just rumors). There is no charge to book a "reservation" or a "priority seating" at T-Rex. If you can't book one through Disney, call them directly.

Ok I might be asking a question that was already asked and answered but I am not sure... where (other than on the disBoards) does Disney say that DxDP will have peak season prices? I looked at the brochure and didn't see it. I've looked at the website and didn't see it. I want to make sure because that might affect when my husband and I plan our anniversary trip for.... anyone know where I can see that Disney says there are peak season prices?????

They don't put prices in the brochure. Disney also doesn't itemize their package prices. So no, you are not going to find those prices in an official Disney communication.

Those prices are the ones that have been released on numerous unofficial boards (determined by pricing out packages) and by travel agents.

If you want the price from Disney and not other sources, here's the procedure:

1) Go to the Disney website.

2) Price out a room/tickets package in peak season.

3) Price out a room/tickets package at the same resort in non-peak season.

4) Figure the difference between the room price.

5) Price out a room/tickets/dining package in peak season.

6) Price out a room/tickets/dining package in non-peak season.

7) Taking into account the difference in the room price, figure the difference. This will be the difference in cost in the dining plan.

The price of the Disney Deluxe Dining Plan is $85.52 per night, per Guest ages 10+ and $23.79 per night, per Guest ages 3-9.


There is no second price......... for peak season???

I've looked through the brochure linked in the first post. There's no price on that brochure. Not sure where you are seeing a brochure with a price. Disney hasn't ever put the prices on the official dining plan brochures.

There wasn't any price on that brochure either.

The only way to know for sure will be to price it out.

Disney Vacation Club members booking through Member Services do not pay peak prices. That's the only exception though. The previous poster didn't say anything about DVC, but that would be the correct price for a DVC reservation any time of year.

Ok, two quick questions. Our last trip was August 2010. Since then.....

Have any restaurants other than Le Cellier gone from 1 TS credit to 2?

The change with the juice at breakfast (saw this in the 2011 thread), does that just mean you get 1 beverage for breakfast instead of 2? If so, that isn't much of a change. We always just got the 2nd drink and stored it for later anyway.

With the addition of refillable mugs and RFC and TRex. I am still happy to pay for the DDP, and I still think we will save. Would never save on the DxDDP, because we cannot eat that much food.

When I asked the 1st rep about T-Rex, she said the plan is not finalized, and she didn't have it on her list yet. Really? It's on the website already. Her reaction to that was, oh, okay.

Only have 3 ADRs at TS places right now, one being T-Rex. Didn't do DDP, b/c of paying for T-Rex OOP and only a couple other ressies, didn't think it would be worth it. Now I'm reconsidering. I'm a first timer, heading in February, so any help is appreciated!!

Here's the other questions I asked the Disney reps:
1. what's the latest I can add the dining plan onto our package?

• first rep said, anytime before you come is fine, as long as it's before you check in
• second rep said, at least a week before, but there may be an additional charge; to be safe do it before 45 day mark.

2. can we use TS credit at a QS place?

• 1st rep: no, TS credit at TS and QS credit at QS only
• 2nd rep: sure, it wouldn't be in your best interest, but you can use TS credit at a counter service location

So, I'm confused.

It actually says that in the 2012 DDP brochure PDF somewhere...read the entire thing in detail and you will be able to find it -- I had to scroll through the pages a few times to register everything in my head! As the CM stated, it isn't the best value to do so, but you do have the option. I can certainly see my husband and I doing that once during our February trip just to save time possibly.

Edited to add: Any package changes made after your 45-day mark are subject to a change fee ($50 I think??) but generally if you are ADDING to the price of your package, they won't charge you a fee to spend more money. LOL Although, I would try and make any changes before the 45-day mark if possible just for your own sake. I don't like last-minute changes.

Thanks for the info! I agree, they were friendly, but not very knowledgeable. On adding the DDP, I thought I had read 3 days at some point, but then couldn't find it. I'm looking at the numbers now, so I'll have our decision in the next couple weeks. I did read thru the brochure and found the reference about using TS at QS. With it being our 1st trip, just not sure I want to tie us down to being at a particular place at a specific time for each day. Too much pressure! We've got T-Rex and Chef Mickey's so far. With the DDP, I may look at 1 or 2 more of the character meals that my son will love. Thanks again!

FYI... just spoke to a rep a couple days ago regarding the restaurant list I downloaded a couple weeks ago. It had a bunch of EXCLUSIONS from last years list.

She then told me all the restaurants I wanted to go to ARE on the 2012 list. So I went and downloaded the list again and she was right! Apparently they updated the lists a few days ago... and the quick service now has almost twice as many options as the one I previously downloaded!


I hope this is final as our trip is coming up in just a week.

Yes, you can add the dining plan at this point if you are staying at a Disney resort. There is a cut off just prior to traveling but for an April 2012 trip you can call back now and add a dining plan to your package.

That they took away one of the snack credits from the quick service dining plan..

That was extreamly useful with the kids wanting a drink and then a popcorn, then a ice cream..

Id rather pay for my 14 dollar mug one time and get the extra snacks for my whole trip..
