Hi!

Does anyone have any scoop on when the dining plans for 2012 will be ready to add to DVC reservations? We are a large group and as of last week they weren't available to be added to our reservation yet, but our 180-day window for ADRs is fast approaching. We don't want to have to pay the deposits on some of the meals that require one in the absence of the DDP on our accounts.

Thanks!

My vague recall is that the new prices usually show up about the end of Aug, beginning of Sep. so you may have a long wait.

Since the dining plan has to be paid for when you add it to your reservation, they won't be able to do it until the price is set.

As mentioned, that is usually in the early Fall.

I think you can get a credit back when you reserve those dining experiences in advance and then add the dining plan and use dining credits. You could check with the dining CM's. By all means, make your reservations at the 180 day mark so you get what you want!

Just make the ressies as soon as you can and then add the dining plan whenever it becomes available

Hi I spoke to the WDW travel co here in the UK today, to ask when the prices will be released for the DDP 2012. The lady told me probably around August.
We are renting points to stay at OKW, and I will buy the DDP as I think it looks like it will work out quite well for us. Unless of course the price goes up drastically! I checked back and the price went up by $4 from 2010 to 2011, so hopefully it won't be any more than $50!

Claire :)

The 2012 dining plan brochure is listed in the DDP thread here:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2736211

Notice the inclusion of the mug.... No price yet.

Big changes are:

CS Plan: Lose a snack credit (2 CS, 1 snack, 1 mug)
TS Plan: Gain a mug (1 TS, 1 CS, 1 snack, 1 mug)

Now the only difference between the two is the difference in value of a CS meal versus a sit down. Will be interesting to see how that prices out.

Thanks for the replies! That is super helpful. We are doing the DxDP so have a lot of ressies to book, including CRT for 13!!! Let's see if I can pull *that* one off! I guess my cc will have some pretty big deposits on it temporarily.

While I am here, any advice for booking a large party? Is it easier to ask for multiple tables of 4, or the whole group, or a 6/4/3 split? Does Disney Dining open at 7am? What time can you book on the website? Do I use my DVC confirmation # for our reservation #?

I'm thinking of getting a few helpers with the calls to get the important reservations.

Thanks! This is our first trip on DVC. We have a 2 bdrm and a 1 bdrm.

I too was wondering about this, I had called MS a few weeks ago inquiring about the dining plan and the response I got was that I had to call later on in the year (I am guessing August). We will be there in January and are taking my ILs with us....we are buying their dining plan and wanted to pay that and get that out of the way....I guess I will have to wait a few months to do so. We are going to be on the DxDP and the only ADR that I will have to worry about is CRT, but I will go ahead and book it at our 180 day mark and then add the DxDP once we get it.

The 2012 packages are now on the WDW website. I did a couple of "dummy" reservations to get the dining plan prices. QS is the same as 2011 (with 1 less snack), Regular & Deluxe plans have gone up quite a bit.

January, 3 nights, 2 adults.

Boardwalk Inn - standard view

No dining plan - $1684.26
Quick Service - $1894.20 - so $34.99 each - same as 2011
Regular - $1993.50 - so $51.54 each - + $5.55 per adult per night
Deluxe - $2197.38 - so $85.52 each - +$6.53 per adult per night
-------------------------------
I priced July, 3 nights, 2 adults.

Boardwalk Inn - standard view

No dining plan - $1869.90
Quick Service - $2079.84 - so $34.99 each - same as 2011
Regular - $2191.14 - so $53.54 each - +$5.55 per adult per night
Deluxe - $2407.02 - so $89.52 each - + $10.53 per adult per night

I never had to wait to add the dining plan; they ask if you would like to add it as soon as you make your reversation.

The rules changed last October. You have to pay for the dining plan when you add it.

Actually, thanks for posting this. It actually helps me decide what to do for my August trip. We are still going with the DxDDP for one night (have some of our party going to CRT) but I don't think I will add any others and just do TIW for the other meals.

Given the 2012 prices, I won't be adding the plans so the TIW works out to be a better deal!!!

MS just told me that the 2012 dining plans could be added in July. I didn't ask when in July because I wasn't interested in adding the dining plan just yet for our January trip.

For that many folks, I'm sure you've already thought of this, but you might consider calling now and setting yourselves up as a Grand Gathering. You would have to call to get your ADR's instead of making them online, but the GG links all your activities and reservations. We've done the GG ADR's as well as just booked separate tables online, and the GG worked out great. When we tried to book ADR's ourselves online it got kind of confusing (times, tables, etc.). The first year we were listed as a Grand Gathering, we didn't actually do any of the GG experiences, it was just to make the ADR's more organized.

I find the planning to be just the funnest, but not everyone finds it so relaxing!!:cloud9: It'll be great, however you decide to book things - your at WDW!! Our next GG (12 of us) is in March 2012 and we are sooo excited!!!!:woohoo:
