2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

We interrupt this broadcast of Beach and Yacht Club info for an :offtopic: mini review of Dee's vacation to the Bahamas. I apologize to those of you who are not remotely interested in these and invite you to skip ahead a few posts where discussion of the best resort in the world will continue:

I just got back from the Atlantis on Monday so love seeing your pictures. :) It was my first time there and I do want to go back again!!

I interrupt this thread to announce:

I've got Tickets to see Bruce Springsteen at Gillette Stadium in August!! :cheer2:

Ok, now back to your regular posts.

Have a nice walk over to the show!!! What do you do about tailgating?

Saw The Boss back in the 80's- the man and the band put on one heck of a show!

How long were you there? We were there from last Sunday to Friday morning. Did we cross paths? Did you stay on Paradise Island or was this a cruise stop.

We had a fabulous time! Later this week (or early next week) I'll be working on a detailed report- LOTS more pictures.

Springsteen concerts are a bit of a joke around our house.....when I was pregnant with DD8, Bruce was playing PNC park in Pittsburgh on August 6th. I was due on August 16th, but knew better than to get tickets....guess what, DD8 was born on August 6th. Fast foward 4 years until I'm pregnant with DS4. Bruce was playing Pittsburgh on November 14th, but my due date was November 24th. Anytime anyone asked when I was having the baby, I told them November 14th because Bruce was in concert that day...ha ha ha. Guess when my water broke....midnight on the 14th. Yep, I was in the hospital with my 2nd child when the concert was going on. It was the joke that if Bruce was in town, I was having a baby.

Now that we're done with having children, I might consider trying to get to see him one of these days!

Since the noodles (or reasonable facsimilies) have "resurfaced", I am once again taking reservations for the Noodle Swap.

If you are interested, please check out the list on Page 1 (Post 14), to see if the noodles are available during your stay. If so, post your request here on the thread.

First come, first served for requests.

Please note that is it probably best that we keep the noodles as busy as possible. If they go for too long without being taken out to play, they may get bored and disappear again.

And please, tip your waiters and waitresses. I mean Bell Service CMs. on the way in and out.

Thanks!

Dee

I am interested in the noodles June 12-15. Are they still available?

Check his tour schedule. I'm pretty sure he's in Pittsburgh this summer.

This will actually be my 3rd time seeing him. I saw him in Orlando the first time. Couldn't get tickets for the show here, but could get them for Orlando and since my friend was living there - prefect.

We don't tailgate, so that's not a problem. We're not drinkers and just never got into tailgating, and hubby will probably work until 5, so the plan is, I drop him at work then walk over for his 5:00 quitting time. (He works at Patriot Place.) Then we'll grab a bite somewhere at Patriot Place before the show starts.

Hello, most helpful group on the DIS!!!!:goodvibes

We're really excited about booking a FW Illuminations cruise from YC this coming October - but I haven't been able to pull a ton of information up on it. Has anyone on here taken a cruise and loved/hated it? Any recommendations on what we could have on the boat to celebrate? (We're having an early dinner at Yachtsman beforehand, so I was just thinking champagne, if they do that.)

Do the boats get anywhere near the bridge on International Gateway? I'm so curious!

TIA

I noticed they were pretty booked when I updated the list this morning, and I thought I would have to tell you sorry, but YES, they are available from June 12-15.

Post 14: Noodle Swap

I will add you to the list. :cool1:

I have used Bath & Bodyworks "Seaside Escape" room spray to give me a reminder of the BC lobby.

DW and I were in Target once walking down the candle aisle and I stopped dead in my tracks. We looked at each other and said "Beach Club". Unfortunately it wasn't one candle but a combination of the many. (We tried to find one with 'the scent'.)

I will look for Seaside Escape.

Hey Robyn. Hope all is OK. Thinking of you and yours.

Dee

I am there August 25 to September 3 We'd love to look after the noodles for all or part of that time.

Amy

pinkgirl is going to be Wading with the Woggles (don't ask) /noodles until August 30, so I put you on the list for August 30-September 3.

Either you can arrange for a swap with her while you are both at the resort, or you can pick them up from Bell Services after she drops them off.

Hi everyone,

We are staying at the Yacht Club next month. We were wondering if anyone knew whether or not there is any construction going on near the gazebo. We are booked into the CL garden view and heard that the view we would have.
Thanks!

Can you elaborate on the condition of your villa? and which two rooms you were in thanks! I will be in the villas in 3 weeks and I am concerned

Both villas were one bedrooms on the 4th floor. First was was 465, I think but not sure. View of "the road" and lots of road noise. We really didn't like hearing the bus drivers telling people over the loudspeaker on the bus that MK was open until 3 am at 11 pm along with trucks, cars, fumes, etc. I know some people enjoy this noise, but not us. The rugs were dirty, lightbulbs blown, eating table had huge dents and scratches in it. 2 balconies in this villa. REmote controls for the TV didn't work. We put in a new battery ourselves.

Second villa was 445 with a view of trees. Much quieter and had sun on the one balcony most of the day. Very few towels on arrival, not even enough for 2, found dishes left in the dishwasher on arrival, no Disney soaps ever, the light under the microwave oven never worked so we cooked in the dark. Frying pans in poor condition and looked like they had not been washed. No dishwasher soap. Called mousekeeping twice asking for some and also went to the front desk to get some (none materialized). Finally had to scope out a mousekeeper on the 3rd day to get some from another room. We were supposed to get trash and towel service on Thursday, but they came on Wednesday, after we had taken our own garbage to the trash room.

We have never encountered these issues with DVC before, even though we have stayed here at BCV's last year, and have also stayed at AKV's, BWV's, and OKW in the past. I don't know if it is related to this busy time of year or what.

We did have a fabulous time during our stay and the fact that SAB opened from the emergency repair almost a week earlier than what we had been told really helped! The location is ideal and everybody else we dealt with was great (bell services, valet, pool CM's, etc.).

Regarding the scent in the BC lobby (ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh)....I work for Yankee Candle & nothing we have even comes close. As soon as I returned from BC I was obsessively smelling every single jar to try & find something close!!

Yankee did used to provide the scent used in Sheraton Hotels, not sure if it's still used or not.

I do think Bath & Body works Sea Island Cotton is the closest I've smelled. I will try the Seaside Esacpe that someone else here mentioned.

Thanks to both for your ideas. DH and I are arriving first, alone for five days! Then the rest of the party arrives. I can't justify in my mind paying for the two bedroom lock off for five nights when I won't need it. I could do a one bedroom first and then the two bedroom lock off for the second five nights and sort out the whole ticket thing. I was going with a package which adds to the complexity of the whole thing, but that can be easily sorted out. Even with two bedrooms though, there are not enough beds without sleeper sofas.

You are right I could put DD and DDBF on the sleeper sofa, but UGH, I feel so uncomfortable about that. DDBF (means boyfriend, not best friend) and although they have been going out for three years...I just can't picture me trotting around in my pajamas!

The point is well taken though that I probably will not get the one bedroom together with the studio because unless I am willing to change rooms, the studio that is next to me has to check out the exact same day as they arrive.

I think I will have to put this to a vote at home. Thank you so much for all of the ideas, I really appreciate them!

Hmmm, that does put a different spin on things. :lmao: OK, what about the studio being the girls room and the one BR for the guys. Then you won't even need to worry if you get connecting or not. Of course, your daughter and beau might not be thrilled. ;) Have fun planning whatever you decide.

Just returned from a 6 night stay at BCV's. the good: SAB was open, bell services and valet were terrific. The bad: mousekeeping and condition of the villas (we stayed in 2 different ones). Could not get any dishwasher soap after calling mousekeeping 2 times and asking at the front desk. Mousekeeping came on the wrong day for trash and towel service. The ugly: front desk/check-in. For some reason, if you give them a cell phone number with online checkin and/or when you actually get there, they call your home phone to tell you the room is ready. So, we waited hours to get the call that our room was ready both times and the call never came to our cell phone. So, when you check-in, ask them to text you when the room is ready instead of a phone call.

I'm so sorry to hear of your issues. Our villa in Feb was in great shape and I've always had good luck calling mousekeeping for any problems. Did you push the housekeeping/maintenance button? Next time you could ask one of the housekeepers in the hall for more dishwasher soap but that doesn't help now.

I love booking trips early -- you get so many months of planning and anticipation that way! We booked this one late and I somehow feel cheated of all that time I could have been looking forward to it! :rotfl: Congrats on being so close to your trip!!!:yay:

So agree.::yes::

It's been years since we did the Illumination Cruise but way back when, the boats parked right under that bridge. First we went for a spin around Crescent Lake and then parked for Illuminations (except it wasn't Illuminations then :lmao: ). We really enjoyed it but I liked the fireworks cruise for MK a bit more. I know our skipper brought soft drinks and I think we brought champagne but it was so many years ago that both things may have changed. Have fun!! :cool1:
