I'm Back!!! Had so much fun!! Although I did not stay at the YC/BC DD and I had dinner and breakfast at Captain's Grille. We love the breakfast there and had never had dinner, but we decided to give it a shot after seeing and reading MM's report... though we saw no stars it was still a very good dinner and would highly recommend this restaurant! As for breakfast it's always good! Robyn there was no key lime pie on the menu ;o(

Welcome back! We're planning on Captain's Grille for lunch on our arrival day. Glad to hear so much positive feedback! I hadn't heard much about it before this thread. Must be a hidden gem!

We also are going to see the pool go down during our vacation In order to avoid mass from DD's I explained to them what TeenaS had explained to us. They said that they would be okay with it but really would miss the pool party! Yes my DD's 11 and 8 love to do the shuffle with the lifeguards! So if that is their main concern to have a party than that is mine.

So I set out to get the answer. Yes I know the slide is going down, but none of the CS or MS seem to have the memo that the pool #1 is also going to be down/drained. I did manage to get transfered to the recreation department and Mark was full of information. He confirmed that it would be drained and all the pool party activites would still happen but at the quiet pool. It asked him to explain which pool that is. He said they call the sandy kids portion of SAB the quiet pool. I clarified not the BC or BCV quiet pool. No it would be in the SAB pool area on the other end. So my DD's will be happy. We will not be making a move to another resort and we will a great time.
I am happy that Hurricane Hannah's is still going to be serving adult beverages.

A king bed is a request and therefore not guaranteed. There are very few king beds at the Y&B. Personally if I really wanted a king bed, I'd make that my one and only request. And when you check-in (do not do an on-line check-in ... go to the regular line), ask if your room has a king bed. If one is not available on that day you check in (and that's a possibility), then ask to be set up for a room change when one is available.

This was actually going to be the only request we were going to put on the reservation (I normally never put requests... being in WDW is good enough for me). I was going to do regular check in also (I can be a techno-phone about random things, which my PC Desk Help DBF find hilarious ) so I'll remember to ask when we check in.

Now for a water question of a different kind -

In past trips, we have ordered cases of water from Costco and it works out really well. Shipping to a convention resort, though, feels like a bigger hassle (and added expense). Has anyone shipped a case of water to YC (or BC)? Was it a pain to get it?

What about the walk to the Hess Station? Far?

Any other suggestions?

Captain's Grille doesn't have characters or princesses or drive-in movie cars to sit in or belly dancers or coconut races and it is at a resort, not a park- but it has good food and usually a quiet atmosphere.

It IS a hidden gem, so shhhhhh... don't tell everyone!

Based on what's I've gathered here, I highlighted a screen shot from google maps. The red portion is what I understand is getting repaired. Is this correct? or are other portions of SAB also facing construction?

Right! At this point, they are saying only 2 weeks in April. You should be good, but always keep an eye out here because Teena the Great will surely keep us posted.

Hi! We've stay at YC every year & eaten in Captain's Grille many times. Unfortunately, it wouln't be my idea of romantic. It is nice, but I would describe it more as an upscale hotel's everyday diner. Not that I mean anything bad when I say diner. Just that it is casual, some tables are very close together, some are next to the open walkway.

I think there are more romantic places, like Yachtsman's, Shula's, Le Cellier or one of the restaurants in France.

EPCOT and Captain’s Grille


I wouldn't describe it so much as romantic, but quiet- not as hectic as a lot of other Disney restaurants. So it would probably fit the bill for an anniversary dinner.

Yachtsman next door is probably more romantic, definitely darker and also more expensive since it is a Signature (2 TS) dining location.

Someone tell me what to do. I am so bad at making decisions. My choices are YC garden view, BC water/pool view, or YC water/pool view. With my discounts it is an extra $295 for me to upgrade to water/pool view over the garden view. I just do not know if it is worth it when this trip is already costing me a fortune!

I like the feel of the BC better than the YC (no offense to anyone), but my daughter said she liked the YC room decor better than BC.

We will be balancing park and resort time on this trip. We will spend an equal amount of time at HS as we do at Epcot. We are likely to be in the parks, at the pool, or at DTD in the evenings, so the balcony would not be used for fireworks viewing. I would be disappointed to get a juliette balcony or a quiet pool view if I am paying for the water view. However, we will be checking in very early on a Monday morning, so I would think I could probably get a full balcony. Two adults and two young teen girls. First time at the BC or a Disney deluxe hotel. Our trip is the end of September if that makes any difference.

Any thoughts?

Welcome, Melabella! Sounds like a garden view with a full balcony request might work well for you! While I really love a water view, when we're staying at BC and spending lots of time at the parks and in the pool, we book garden view. It guarantees that we won't overlook the parking lot, but isn't as expensive as the water view. It's a happy medium! We're staying at YC next month and booked the same. Sounds like it might be a good fit for your family, too. Good luck with your decision!

I am allll about a view but won't do water view at yc/bc. You might get a pool - quiet or noisy sab...not necessarily lagoon. Garden views are very pretty!

Well after a much too long hiatus, we are heading back to the BC! The good news is we get to finally stay BCV for the first time, in a 2 bedroom no less. Add us to the Be Our Guest list October 21-28 please. Last month we were at BWV and got off at the BC bus stop for a quick walk home. That brief moment passing through the lobby and smelling one of my favorite Disney scents was enough to make us change our plans from Kidani to BCV. Ahhh...I can smell it now!
You can see we frequent BWV so are used to the closeness of the two parks and eateries on the Boardwalk...I've tried to read through the pages, but are there any "not to miss" tips for the BCV? Although I consider myself a WDW and DVC veteran, I'm a newbie to BCV.
