Day 15 Hollywood Studios & Grand Floridian Café
Today's video "DISNEY CLASSICS @ THE GRAND FLORIDIAN"
We woke around 7:15 to a bright sunny morning. Washed and dressed, we were soon in the car and on our way to DHS for extra magic hours. The queue for bag check was horrendous and this together with long lines at the turnstiles meant that the rope drop happened just as we got inside the park. As usual I headed off the get TSM fast passes, while Sue and Emma made their way towards TOT. I quickly joined the herded crowds but was shocked to find that the queues for TSM passes were already near to One Mans Dream.
These however move quite quickly and I had reached the front after about 5 minutes. I headed back over to TOT which was a walk on, much so that we rode it 3 times on the run. Next up was Rock n Roller Coaster, which I once again rode as single rider, to beat the queue. On exiting the ride, we made our way to Starring Rolls for a bite to eat.
We had penciled in The Voyage of the Little Mermaid owing to its planned closure tomorrow for re-furb. We had good seats, about 3 rows back, centre stage. After that we wandered across to the hat where we spotted Chip n Dale.
The lines were small so we decided to wait and have some photographs taken. Next, onto the Muppet Show. This, I feel is starting to look a little tired and could do with a few modifications; even so we all still enjoyed it.
Our fast passes were now valid for TSM so we made our way there and joined the queue. Within 5 minutes we were on the ride, but as usual it was over all too soon.
Emma wanted to ride TOT again and as we had nothing else planned, we had a slow wander back. The lines had started to build up by now but we still managed 2 rides in quick succession. With all the walking and the heat of the sun, we decided that we needed cooling off and so headed to our favourite ice cream cart near to the entrance of Indiana Jones. We decided to call it a day at that and made our way to the exit calling in various shops. On the way back we made a detour to Walmart to pick up some supplies before heading back to OKW. We had a few hours in the pool, which I thought may have been cut short since we had quite a few loud rumbles of thunder but luckily no lightening.
Our ADR for tonight is at The Grand Floridian Café. Having paid out of pocket here a few years ago and together with its location, this is high on my all time favourites list. We arrived well in advance of our 7:30 reservation, so we had a leisurely wander around taking some photographs.
We also listened to Glen who played a few Disney classics on the grand piano. This man is amazing!!!
The music just flows and he seems to play with little effort
.a pleasure to listen to. The lighting was rather low, however I still managed to shoot some video
Our pager lit up exactly on time and we were shown to our table and left to make our choices.
Nigel Grilled Rib Eye, Broccoli & Fries Shared Dessert Sampler Diet Coke
Sue Salmon & Asparagus Shared Dessert Sampler - Captain Rum Runner Cocktail
Emma Oven Roasted Chicken with vegetables Chocolate Fondue Diet Coke
After our meal, I took a few photographs around the hotel and then we decided to drive over to Downtown Disney.
We had a walk around Westside, having a look in a few shops and listened to a few artists playing outside House of Blues. We made our way back to OKW and called it a day at 11:00.
Coming up next Downtown Disney Mama Melrose - Fantasmic!
