So we plan on going (to our frist) HHN the 24th(if they stay to the Opening Fri Sat schedule) of Sept. Opening weekend,how are the crowds usually?. Would It be better to get the express pass?.

i have experienced opening weekend only twice.
i avoid it now for a few reasons.

it is too short of a time period for me.
two days is not enough.

hhn kinks are worked out by the third week

and more reasons...

once the media leaves the park, it won't be that crowded.
each year they are they at the front of the park and some through out the park.

it will be busy in the beginning of the night due to that but once they are gone, not a problem.

i would not buy the epp until you decide the crowds are too long for you to handle.
epp's are sold at gs during the event.

for saturday opening weekend, you will get more of a crowd but not packed usually.

from what i have read over the years for opening weekend, crowds are nothing like they are mid way thru the event that october.

since you are only available for friday, do the stay and scream section so you get a head start of any crowd.

buy the epp once the lines are ovr 20 minutes long.

the first shows of the night will is the only time you are able to use the epp for them.

if you buy the epp a few hours after you are in the park, the epp is worthless for the express lines for the Bill and Ted's adventure and any other show that will be present during the event.

the only show rumor i hear about is Brian could be back this year.
but i skip it all the time now.
tried it once and it wasn't my thing.


do a search for threads of past hhn for opening weekend.
how it was for me has been many years back.
i base the lighter attendance on what i read on other boards besides the dis about hhn.

I have read on another website that it is confirmed that Brushwood will not be back this year. He is either already booked for other dates or confirmed that he won't be back in a statement, don't remember which it was.

Not as crowded as it will be later in October, with the exception of the Bill & Ted Show (there's not as many people, but those who are there are hard core HHN fans, who tend to be hard core B&t fans). If it really is that early an opening--and all signs point to this--should be even better. Most casual HHN-goers just won't be in a Halloween mood yet. Generally it closes at midnight both nights, tho, so plan on being there before opening to maximize your time.

Not as crowded as it will be later in October, with the exception of the Bill & Ted Show (there's not as many people, but those who are there are hard core HHN fans, who tend to be hard core B&t fans). If it really is that early an opening--and all signs point to this--should be even better. Most casual HHN-goers just won't be in a Halloween mood yet. Generally it closes at midnight both nights, tho, so plan on being there before opening to maximize your time.

This year will be my 4th consecutive year attending HHN (Opening Weekend every Time).
Crowds are not so bad. But for me, EP is now a must! I love being able to see each house twice a night!

Several attractions are open during HHN but not many. Last year MIB, The Simpsons, ROTM and Jaws were open...probably the same this year.

I would shoot for 10/16 (Sunday) for the lightest crowds...which aren't very light anymore. I expect 10/19 (Wednesday) to be scheduled which means....Hell Week. That weekend (Thursday-Sunday) is going to be jammed with high schoolers since they are off school on Friday. You would definitely want to consider purchasing an Express Plus pass for any of those nights.

homie, why don't you go the columbus day weekend if you can work with those dates?

there will be many, including moi, there that thur-sun for hhn.


Rip, if the opening weekend would be sept 23-4, that would give the event 6 weeks of hhn.

october 6,7,9 would then fall as the 3rd weekend for the event.
kinks are worked out very well by that point of the season.

Last years tickets were released on the 14th of June so we should know really soon.

If we were to go to HHN can you stay away from the super scary stuff or is it just scary everywhere? We were thinking of going to MNNSHP but the tickets and cab fare are outrageous!!! there are no children tickets sold for HHN.
only adult tickets.

i wouldn't take the kids there until they were older.
others might say the opposite.

hhn is a scary place.
avoiding the houses will not take away the scare factor.

the park is decorated for the theme, there are scare zones located throughout the park, beer stands all over, beautiful scantily clad females selling alcohol at the carts, loud event music throughtout the park...

i love it all.........


the event is held at the studios side.
usually only about 4 rides will be open during this time period.
the children section will have an adult theme hhn scareactors most likely.

barney will not be there on those hhn nights.

my thoughts are:
it will be scary
it will be loud
the restaraunts and cs will be crowded
limited rides will be open
many with a buzz will be enjoying the night
tickets are expensive.

Thanks so much! My 12 yr old son would LOVE it...I worry about my 9 yr old daughter. So I guess MNSSSHP it is. They could care less about the whole theme...they want to ride the rides!!!! They also enjoyed the parades at Disney. It will just cost us about $300 for all that. Ugh!

Yeah...that's probably best to skip HHN. It's a lot of money to just ride the rides after dark and not care about the theme. Wait a few years and then try it again.

Plus only certain rides are open during HHN - not all so it would be a waste of $$ to buy a HHN ticket just to ride the rides.

I would agree with Macraven, HHN is not for most kids under 13. There is even a disclaimer on the HHN website saying "too intense for young children and not recommended for children under 13". And yes, I can say from experience, it is not your average cutesy Halloween party - it can be very scary.

As Mac, Bonny and those of us who regularly attend HHN know...you can ride and rides during the day. HHN is all about the scarezones and houses.
