Seared Mahi Mahi in Brazil
Shrimp Tacos in Mexico
Lettuce Wraps in South Korea
Griddled Greek Cheese in Greece

Okay got through and found one who knew what she was doing. Robert Irvine sold out though :(

Anmother question and sorry for being spacey today. I just followed about 20 links and saw something about wine dinners at Flying Fish. I made a note on my paper about Oct 20- Argentinian wine dinner. Now, I can't find where I saw it! Am I going nuts or was that posted somewhere? if so, can you provide link or details on price, etc.?

I am on my phone but i remember these and if I were you I woul go to disney food blog and look there. I remember seeing something in the news letter, but i sure someone will help.

Glad you got a CM who knew what was going on.

This isn't seminar info either but might be of interest.

From AllEars: Flying Fish Cafe on the BoardWalk will host several wine dinners during the 2011 Food and Wine Festival, in addition to its previously announced official Signature dinner on November 3, featuring Moet & Chandon wines. The dates for the other wine dinners are: October 6 (wines by Domaine Serene); October 13 (wines of Spain); October 20 (wines of Argentina); November 4 (Markham Winery). Individual announcements about these wine dinners will be released closer to the dates, and you will be able to book reservations at that time through Flying Fish. NOTE: This Signature dinner on November 3 must be booked through Disney Dining, 407-WDW-DINE when general reservations for the Food and Wine Festival open on August 16.

We did the Chefs Wine Dinner on our last trip and loved it. Trying to squeeze this one in on our arrival day.

Here it is again.

Just so you know, I received an email from the manager and the dinner on October 20th will not be Argentinian wines but will be Chilian wines.

Cake Boss (Buddy Valastro) is apparently offered at both 3 and 3:45 (even though the 345 is not on the schedule)

Apparently down to the last 2 seats out of a possible 76.

Not sure if they are holding any back for the 16th, but CM & her support supervisor suspects wld be very limited if any.

This has me worried. I knew he'd be extremely popular. I'm sure the Sweet Sunday event will sell out too. I hope I can get through on Tue.. I'll be really disappointed if I don't get that ticket. At least I know how to hopefully avoid being cut off by the wonderful WDW-FEST line. Thanks B'rer Karen for the tips.

Im fine with Chilean wines too.

How did you get an email? Is there a mailing list?

Did it have any more details? Times, prices, etc.?

Im hoping these will be more like a special menu at regular seatings than a specific event at a set time. That's our arrival day and I already promised DS we would go see Fantasmic. If I can do a late dinner though, that would be great!

Hi, here is a sample of one of the wine dinners we had a while back. These dinners are an "event" and not special menus at the regular seatings, sorry. They usually only have around 30 attendees. The price range is usually $135 per person to $165 per person.

Dear Friends,
We are happy to announce our next wine dinner. The focus will be on the great wines of Argentina. Andrew Macnamara will host this wonderful event.
Please call or email me to reserve your seats.
As usual we will need a credit card guarantee, number of guests in your party, and your cell number. We limit these events to 30 people. I hope you can join us.
Sincerely, Keith

I am sure you had fun. the food and wine sound wonderful.

We booked two wine seminars this morning (through DVC); the Kendal Jackson on 10/2 and the Chateau Saint Michelle on 10/4. The latter is the one I'm really looking forward to. So far I haven't found one of their wines that I didn't like.

Total newbie to WDW F&W with a few booking/deminar questions...

1. I have an AP and TiW - do I also need a CC# when booking, or do we pay at the door?

2. What is the cancellation policy?

3. About how many seats are set up for this event? (We were in WDW for Flower&Garden Festival - is it set up the same way where people can stand and watch?)

4. Not to start any kind of debate, but what am I really getting for my $9-13?

Thank you so much for your help! :goodvibes

You pay when you book. You also should have your AP/TiW handy at check in for the event; I think they checked our DVC cards last year.

What is the cancellation policy?

Nonrefundable.

Not sure...it seemed like maybe 75 or so? Also, at least for the food events, they had fake palm trees surrounding the area blocking the views of non-ticketed people.

Not to start any kind of debate, but what am I really getting for my $9-13?

We did the Robert Irvine event last year and it was well worth it (in our opinion it was much more worthwhile than the Family and Friends in the Kitchen event, for example). I remember a few different wines and a few different tastings. They weren't huge by any stretch of the imagination but I would say size-wise comparable to what you would get at a food booth.

1.you have to pay when booking!
2. None. Once you pay Disney keeps the money
3. No you can't stand and watch. I think they try to shove 100 in there. Seating for the wine is VERY VERY tight!

4. You get a wine "expert" talking about wine and 3 to 4 tastes. (photos back a few pages) What you get depends on the wine expert and the wines being provided. For culinary you get a demo by the chef and a "tasting" Also a 'half' glass of wine? (Maybe I am not sure on the latter I didn't do any last year)

Thanks! I'm hoping to see Robert Irvine since he's one of my favorite! Heard it was already sold out, so crossing my fingers that its still available when I can call.

Okay, glad to know its a bit more private. We've been to the "free" ones over in DCA in DLR, and there were always people like hovering right behind your seat and it was a bit awkward. :rolleyes1

Thank you both for the info! Can't wait to call when I get off work! :surfweb:

Hey Everyone, I'm sorry if this was asked before but I tried to search through and didn't find a response. Anyway, we'll be headed down in November for the F & W Festival and I know that Disney is excellent at identifying and catering to food allergies, does anyone know about the kiosks or how to ask them about allergies?

I'm allergic to mustard and mustard seed so I can usually avoid it but will the kiosk attendants know all the ingredients in their foods?

Thanks for everyone's help!

Last year we asked at a couple of booths and some had a sheet under the counter with an ingredients list and others did not. Or they did not want to look for it.

Good luck on Tuesday! I have two hints for going to the demos of the "bigger" name chefs:

1) line up at 9 am (or whenever the welcome center opens) to get a wrist band if you want to do the book signing. The wrist bands function almost like a fast pass for the book signing.

2) show up and line up early for the demos. The seating is first come, first seated. My husband and I do this - one holds the place in line and the other runs back and forth to the beverage bar in the welcome center, so we drink wine while we wait!

Each booth is supposed to have a binder that lists all the ingredients used in each item they are serving at that booth. When we have asked they almost always have pulled out the book to let us look at the listings. The Cashier where you place your order usually doesn't know or have the book so you will probably have to walk up to the Booth where they are serving the food to ask the food preparers.

Thank you to those previous posters that posted about Robert Irvine. I did not think that we could book weekend events today but after seeing the posts at noon I made the call. There was no wait for my call to be answered and I was able to book the Deen brothers and Robert Irvine! So again a big thank you because I was not going to call until Tuesday @ 7:00. Disers are the best!:cheer2:

The culinary demos vary widely as to what you will get. I went to one, and I do not remember who the chef was, that served us three different kinds of soup, an entree, and a dessert. All with the thimbleful of wine. Then I've been to others that give you a small plate of whatever the dish is at the end of the cooking demo. And everything in between. But it's usually quite fun! Some of the chefs have really good personalities. I guess if they don't, they don't come and present at WDW.

Still trying to figure out what demos we might do this year. We are kind of sad we will be missing Kevin Dundon this year. His demo last year was a favorite. We really felt like we got quite a lot of food for just a demo and he was fun.
