:cool1: Our family had a blast at the Hershey Park DISMeet a few weeks ago. It was great to meet up with fellow DISers away from WDW. On the Sweet Meet thread, the idea of another meet in 2011 was mentioned. The location that sparked the most interest was Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio. This is THE PARK to visit for any rollercoaster enthusiast and has been on our "must do" list for years.

So, I wanted to throw it out there and see who is interested in a DISMeet at Cedar Point in 2011?

They are open from May - October. So, disregard November - April on the poll. They are NOT an option.

For information on Cedar Point, visit their website HERE.

As a frequent visitor of Cedar Point, I would like to point out that we have a season called "Winter" where there is snow and makes it impossible to ride roller coasters. :goodvibes:goodvibes

Cedar Point is open May-Halloween (weekends only for October and some parts of September).

I have no preference, so I will not answer the poll. Weekends are exponentially busier, and very crowded with 'locals' from metro Detroit, Cleveland, Toledo, Cincinatti, Columbus, Fort Wayne, and Pittsburg.

Winter, what's that? I live in Texas! :rotfl:

:worship: With your knowledge of CP, you will most likely be the person we go to for information and guidance.

Hi Bill,

We are in unless something Disney or health wise gets in the way:thumbsup2

Todd... Would staying "On-Site" have enough significant benefits that might make it worth considering?

I'm ready... I think:rotfl2: maybe:worship:

There are currently five 'on-site' properties.

•Hotel Breakers (there 'flagship' hotel) literally walking distance to the rear entrance. Think Beach Club and International Gateway, only closer. This is the only property I have stayed at. I have stayed in the tower, which is newer, concierge (which was a waste of $$ per night for us), and the older section. It was very nice to be able to walk back to the room and change clothes/grab refreshment/etc. Themed weakly as Yacht and Beach Club
•Sand Castle Suites Unsure of the theme, all suites
•Breakers Express Value, little theming
•Lighthouse Point & Camper Village Fort Wilderness Cabins and Campground (RV only)
•Castaway Bay similar to Great Wolf Lodge

2010 on site packages include:
Early Entry
Enter the park ONE HOUR before the general public to ride Maverick, Millennium Force, Iron Dragon, Raptor and the rides in Planet Snoopy! Weather or maintenance conditions may make rides unavailable.
Admission Discount
Guests of the Cedar Point Resorts get the best discount on park tickets! One-day tickets are just $29 - that's $16.99 off the gate price! Discounts also available on multi-day Ride & Slide and Starlight tickets.
Packages
Save money when you combine tickets and an overnight stay.
Close To The Action
No other hotel can match the convenience (or location) of our properties.

But they are pricey. The Knight's Inn isn't too far, rooms are 1/4-1/3 the price, and are pet friendly.

Cool. :) Sounds fun. Was looking for something to do while DH was at Jambo.

Yes we are definitely interested. If Hallie gets to see Todd and ride roller coasters her head might explode! Whenever is fine!

I'm less than an hour away so as long as the timing worked out I'd be in. I haven't been there in years but I used to have a season pass.

They have Halloweekends in October and that is always fun. If you are looking for the best days crowd wise a weekday either before school lets out or after they are back in will be the best. Weekends are pretty much always brutal.

How do crowds compare to Hershey on a Jonas Brothers weekend?

If a weekend is chosen we would get there Thursday so we could be in the park on Friday/Saturday. Todd... we all could use a coaster guide:thumbsup2

I'm in! I'm only about 90 minutes away, but haven't been to CP in years either. Totally agree about the weekends, they are brutal. It'd be nice if something could be planned for early in the season before all the schools let out. I don't know much about the "on-site" hotels, but I have friends that go every year and stay at the Breakers. They love it there. Not on-site and pricey, but there is a Great Wolf Lodge nearby to CP and also according my nieces and nephew the BEST indoor waterpark Kalahari is in Sandusky too. http://www.kalahariresorts.com/oh/

I was prepared to experience Cedar Point level crowds at Hershey on Jonas Brothers Weekend. I was over prepared. Hershey had no waits compared to what Cedar Point can be. Especially on "holiday" weekends. We went on the 4th of July once. It was fun, but wall to wall people.

Mother's Day and Father's Day tend to be lower attendance, but Father's Day has historically been Cedar Point's version of Gay Day.

WOW!!! That saids a lot about how long the lines can get. Maybe... just maybe that early entry might pay off depending on if school is in session or not.

Mark

p.s. does Bill know what he has gotten himself into

sounds like fun, but have so much planned already- this is out of the budget! CP is on my to do list sometime. :rotfl: and i am a coaster nut! darn it! I can live vicariously through you. Hoping to be preggo in 2011 anyways. lol

would love something in the TX area though- driving range! :goodvibes

So Jennifer doesn't develop a complex ;), this was her that actually started this. I can see the confusion as our screen names and avatars are pretty similar.

Obviously I am in for this :) and I am open to whatever time gets us the best opportunity to experience CP and have fun with our friends. :goodvibes

That's why we start talking and planning now. :goodvibes:goodvibes They have a group rate section available, as well. And the off site places also do group rates. However, greater Sandusky is lacking in other things to do besides Cedar Point or the water parks in the hotels. Nothing like a Chocolate World. But there should be enough to keep you occupied until you are ready to drop.

I'd be all up for something in Texas....I've never been there before!

No worries. :goodvibes In fact, she just let me know that it was actually me that brought up CP in the Hershey thread and that I should have to organize this trip. :scared1: She saw that bus and tossed me right under it. :rotfl2:
