2011/2012 Beach & Yacht FAQ, Part IV- DO NOT POST- see new 2012 thread

We leave in under a week and I have no packing done! I am usually mostly packed by now, but since this is a surprise trip for our children, I can't just pull out the suitcases. I am a little stressed thinking of the last minute packing, but super excited to see our little ones' faces. Can't wait for our first Christmas trip and to top it off - it's at my favorite resort!

13 days till we get to meet Teena!!

Have fun! I think we'll miss Teena, as we leave early Sunday and won't be there on a Monday. I hope next time we'll get to meet Teena.

Hubby gave me an early Christmas gift (laptop) so hopefully I can do some live updates while at the Beach Club. I have to work until 8 tonight, I hope it goes fast, then heading to the airport at 8am tomorrow!

Can't believe it is time for another thread! Thanks to Dee for continuing to keep it going!!

We had a fabulous stay at BC CL at the beginning of the month (despite our room being phonebook-less ). But for reasons that I can't quite spell out, we still prefer the YC to BC. (But would DEFINITELY stay BC again if YC was unavailable).

That being said, I just used the new 30% off room only code to book DS and I at the YC for his birthday trip this June! We are both very excited!!

ETA: Dates are June 5-14th for the front page

So we visited the Yacht & Beach Club a few weeks back, and I decided to do a review as a side-by-side comparison of the two resorts. Feel free to check it out... I'm curious if the experts agree with my take

Yes, we check in that day for our first visit to beach club in general and our first vacation as DVC owners! If dad is working we probably will be leaving his house when he leaves for work and getting there in the morning around the time you start working!!! Joeseph can't wait to meet Ms. Teena!

Ah yes... the School 'Holiday MANIA'!! ~ which equals the Holiday Bazaar/Market/major fundraiser AND the Holiday PROGRAM of performances/Play/Concert and the teacher gifts and REPORT CARDS.

Then add to this ALL the stuff you need to do at HOME and it's no wonder we're making cookies with LIQUOR in them!!

I read this yesterday PLUS DS, who is turning 21 on this next trip, told me that he wants to stay at the BC! So, with the NEW DISCOUNTS we can choose from the GV CL or the deluxe room.

WHICH ONE would you choose from?
Is there any pics on the other thread or anywhere to see of the deluxe rooms or gardenview room cl views and deluxe room layout?

Just called in and got the new discounts applied to our BC CL stay! I saved $1,880!!!! OMG, I can't tell you how excited that made me...

So happy to hear the spring room-only is working for so many BC/YC fans! Feckless, that's amazing savings!

We tried to apply the discount to our "on the way to the airport" overnight in April, but no luck. Even though we're staying on a night that BC/YC are advertised as 30% off, it won't work for that date. So we'll stay put at POFQ for the night - I was able to apply it there and we saved $2 and were upgraded to garden view - CM on the phone and I enjoyed a good laugh. And we'll be back to BC 10 months later, so that's OK!

This is where I failed miserably with my picture-taking (I don't call it "photography" because it's practical, but not particularly beautiful!) We stayed in a deluxe room in February and I didn't take pictures. I'm not sure why not. I took photos of a ton of other things in and around BC, but not that room. I have photos from other trips of a regular room and the 2-bedroom suite, but no deluxe room.

I can tell you that after staying in standard/garden view rooms several times and then the deluxe room, we really appreciated the extra space in the deluxe! And I don't mind the distance from the 5th floor and the club lounge. We usually ate breakfast and evening snacks in the lounge anyway - not in our room - so it was not a problem for us at all. Good luck with your decision!

So you're saying that with a TALL and large 21 yo DS and the two of us, a deluxe room is probably the way to go.

What should I request when I make my changes> what floor?facing courtyard? quiet pool?

I have not stayed in a Deluxe Room, but here is some info from people who have stayed and reported back, and a thread discussing BC deluxe rooms (including pictures). Just added this link to page 1.

Detailed balcony information on Deluxe Concierge Rooms from guests who have stayed there and reported back:

There are six deluxe Concierge rooms at BC.

1557 has a patio and lots of windows.
2557 and 4557 have extra large balconies.
3557 has the standing room only balcony.

3691 has both a standing room balcony and a full balcony
4681 has a standing room only balcony.

So 3 of the 6 have full balconies, 1 has a patio, and 2 have standing room only balconies.

We stayed in 4557 and it was wonderful. As Dee mentioned, huge balcony! We had the choice of 3557, which was ready right away (tiny balcony) or 4557, which would require a wait. No question, we were willing to wait for 4557! It overlooks the quiet pool and is in a nice, central location.

If we were adding a request to a deluxe room reservation, I would ask for "full balcony, quiet pool view." But that's because I would prefer to be near the quiet pool in the middle of the resort, instead of right above/near the lobby. (Most suggest not requesting a specific room because, if it's not available, the room assignor doesn't know what's important to you.) All the deluxe rooms ending "557" are in that central location, overlooking the quiet pool. The other two are closer to the lobby, I think.

One other reason I'm kicking myself for not taking photos of 4557 - the deluxe room in the link Dee posted looks MUCH smaller than our deluxe room. I'm not sure how that room and 4557 are in the same category - we had so much more floor space and our sitting area seemed twice as large as the room in the photos. And the decor in the deluxe is the same as in the other updated BC rooms now. But it's probably good to see photos of a smaller room and then be pleasantly surprised if assigned to a larger one!
