WATCH THE TRAM CAR PLEASE!, WATCH THE TRAM CAR!!!!!!

I'd bet it was for an inter-resort tram car.

Oooooo. Now there's an idea. I love trams. Is that home? Are you close to the coast? I've only been to AC, so NJ geography is not my strong suit.

Whoa, all caught up!!! Love that you are getting to WDW by yourself, MM! Sounds just heavenly! I travel twice a year for work alone (except I took the kids with me like a fool in November! LOL) so it would be way harder for me to get away to Disney so I'll just have to live vicariously!

I'm only there until May 11th but I'm up for a meet!

What planning books would you guys recommend for my DD (11) to get her in the Disney mood?

This is the tram car they have running in Saywatanayo....

:lmao:

But really, this is the tram car they have running in Wildwood NJ. I am an Ocean City girl myself.... that is 2 towns south of Atlantic City.

Marlton Mom- I'm way lost in the convo right now but the pic of the tram car caught my eye! I grew up as a little girl going to Wildwood every summer and I have such a fond memory of that place. We took my son 2 summers ago and couldn't believe the tram car was still running (with the same voice)!!!! Love the southern jersey shore :)

I loved AC, well I love the coast, so I loved the Boardwalk there. That was one of the reasons I chose the boardwalk area of WDW.

Being a Duck Captain on the Saywatanayo has a certain appeal.

Haven't been to Wildwood, but spent some time in Seaside and Pt Pleasant sine marrying hubby. His family is in Jersey and his parents recently retired to 'the shore."

I'm finally caught up. This thread is moving fast!

So my advice to you is to find a way to set some money aside to follow your dreams. So often as 'mothers' or 'fathers' or 'husbands' or 'wives' we get so caught up in that role that we lose a big part of ourselves. We feel like we have to chain ourselves to those roles and not let ourselves come out for awhile.

I thought about this and I think that the best thing ever is to show your children and spouse that you are not only the 'mother' (or 'father' or 'husband' or 'wife') but that you are an individual with hopes and dreams and goals and aspirations that have nothing to do with them. There is nothing wrong with that and BTW don't take NO for an answer if they should try and resist. Remember you are not asking, you are saying I need to do this and this is what I'm going to do. We can do "our" stuff later. This time it's my turn and I'm doing MY thing!

Well said.

Oh, I love any opportunity to plug my favorite author, Stephen King! Do you all know he wrote that story, as well as "The Body", the basis of the movie Stand by Me?

I did not now about this, but I did know about Stand by Me - such diversity.

I'm an Ocean City girl too:)

Ahhh, Wildwood, N.J. Good times. And I was a fan of Ocean City, but that's Ocean City, MD and the site of "beach week" following high school graduation. :)

I really like Guide to the Magic for Kids. It is a bit pricey, about $30, but it has really great pictures and fun information about all of the attractions. It also can serve as a journal- there are prompts to write about each day of your vacation, including a place to rate the rides you tried.

There is even a section of the book you can use for autographs, but the book is too big to bring around with you to the parks, IMHO.

Here's a link the the Guide to the Magic website where you can see some sample pages and even order the book. It is also available at Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

And although they are not planning books, your daughter may enjoy Ridely Pearson's Kingdom Keeper novels (fiction). I have only read the first one so far, but it is about a group of middle schoolers who are the models for a new holographic technology at the Disney parks. They end up entering the Magic Kingdom in their dreams and encounter various attractions and characters coming to life.

All this Jersey shore talk... I've never been, myself, but I adore Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes! Any other fans of the band out there? My DH and I have gone to see them almost every year when they play at the Club Casino in Hampton Beach during the summer.

Let me just say that I keep reading these pages, and thinking, "WOW, these people are a HOOT and have formed such good friendships!" And then I feel sad because I don't have anything to say:rotfl: Anyway, I hope to get to know you all better over the next few months!

We've decided not to tell the kids about our split stay and just tell them we are staying for the 6 nights. We will be at POR for 6 nights (having a HS, MK, AK, resort, and Universal day while there). We are going to "pretend" to go home (pack up, etc.) and drive around for a bit. The kids will be sad, of course, and upset that we didn't go to EPCOT. After we've stalled and convinced them our Disney trip is over...we will then pull into Beach Club! We will be there for 6 more nights.

For that end of our trip:
Right now, I've planned two Epcot days, another MK day, another HS day (Star Wars Weekends), a to-be-decided park day (wherever we decide to go), and a resort day. We reserved the Sandcastle Club for the kids one night, and plan to head over to JellyRolls (or is there somewhere else we should plan to check out?) We do plan to go back to Epcot the night before we leave in order to have dinner at Via Napoli, regardless of which park we are at during the day.

So, here's one question of many to follow...
Where do you have breakfast (QS) around BC? I noticed Hurricane Hannah's has a few things as well as the Marketplace. Is there anywhere else that I am missing? Anything in Epcot?
As far as a TS breakfast, I have Cape May Cafe' planned for departure morning.

Thanks for reading if you got this far!

I got my daughter The Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World, and she really seemed to enjoy it. I'm going to steal it from her this week and check it out. :)

In Philadelphia/South Jersey speak they are "downa shore". You have to say it fast as in "Are you goin downa shore this weekend?"

And that bench warrant is still out on you for that incident at the bar, you know, the one where you broke all those hearts.....

Aww.... We're happy you chimed in. Keep up the good work! I really like your plan of pretending to leave and then staying some more. The kids are gonna go nuts!

As for a QS breakfast at the Market Place they have really good ham/egg/and /or cheese croissants and their bakery items are to DIE for!! I still dream of that Chocolate croissant and they have muffins and other stuff so you will be totally able to find something good. The ladies (and Gents) that work at the Market Place are really nice and they will totally help you with any questions about the food.

There is a bakery at the Boardwalk but the lines can be really long in the morning and you would have to hoof it over there, which would be a 10 minute stroll. There have been reports of a couple of Dad's being sent over to get the family breakfast, who mysteriously disappear, only to be found glued to the big screen TV's at that ESPN place. Some wives just think better of the whole thing and let them stay there.

Well.... keep posting and asking questions. Every lunatic asylum has it's sane person debating on whether to stay or find a way to escape. We hope you'll stay!!

So glad you shared your plans and your question. Plea to you and any lurkers out there- Don't be shy! We love hearing from everyone.

That is one seriously cool fake-out!!! Love it! Of course, when they see Spaceship Earth from the road, tell them "Since we didn't get to go to EPCOT on this trip, we wanted to drive by to see it to say goodbye"

On to your question:

I am not really an expert at breakfast at the resort- that was my favorite perk of concierge level, but here is my input anyway:

The Beach Club Marketplace http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=41330436#post41330436

This thread has lots of great info and pictures, including some information about the 24 hour Picabu market at the Swalphin (can't remember which one). Hopefully pixarmom will come by later for a plug.

Picabu may be a nice option for breakfast on your resort day to give you a change of scenery.

Sunshine Seasons in The Land has CS breakfast, so on your EPCOT morning(s) you can storm the rope drop and FP/ride Soarin', have breakfast at SS, maybe your FP time will be up, so you can either ride Soarin' (again), head over to Test Track or lose your breakfast at Mission Space: Orange. (Green is safer)

Great plan to go to the Cape May breakfast on your real departure day. The atmosphere is fun and the food is really good.

*********************************************
I have Late Night Dining info on the FAQ page. I'll try to work up something on breakfast options. There's great stuff buried on the Marketplace thread, but I need to bring some of that to surface level, too.

So thanks for the inspiration!

The people that we see in the 90 minute line for Toy Story Mania 5 minutes after the park opens are the slow and crotchety ones that can't run fast.
~MM

Careful MM, I "resemble" that remark!!

When the first Epcot resorts opened it was a tram stop. The tram then took you to YC and BC instead of walking or boats. With the opneing of BWI, Swan, Dolphin, and Studios, the tram was eventually dropped and the boats introduced.

Wow, that's what I love about this board. I learned something new today. Thanks!

Thats so cruel, I LOVE IT:rotfl2:

BTW I take a Christmas break from the boards and i'm now about 70 pages from where i left off :scared1: Hope I've not missed anything important.

Well, only 146 days to go now until we're flying back to where we belong:cool1: Cant do a ticker, kids don't know yet;)

What a hoot to see the tram car!

I grew up going "down the shore" to Wildwood Crest. Before we started being able to go to Disney every year that was our annual summer vacation place. My oldest dd still takes her kids for a week to Wildwood every year.

The sound of "watch the tram car please" definitely has fond memories for me.

We love the the Guide to the Magic as well. Nate just received his new copy in the mail yesterday. It has been updated. It is a spiral book but it is too large to carry around as Dee has said.

Another book that we love is the Birnbaum Guides Walt Disney World For Kids. We got it from the library. It has a scrapbook and autograph section. Not as nice the journal section as the Guide to the Magic has though which is why we did not purchase it instead. It is full of color photos.

What and where is Jelly rolls? We are still planning our night out as well. Planning on using the Sandcastle Club one night. I guess I need to get my butt in gear and reserve that today before it fills up!:rolleyes1

love all the chatter!

We just booked the Sandcastle Club. As an FYI, they told me it's a 24 hour cancellation and the penalty is $23 per kid (strange amount!).

Amanda, Mike, Mike's sisters and all of our other friends running the marathon this weekend...

Have a great, safe run everyone!

Go! Go! Go! :cheer2:
