Well, I've decided we can't put it off any longer and I'm thinking about our next trip ;)

Got two weeks off work in Aug but know it'll not be cheap - any ideas re air lines, flights with stop overs etc?

I realise that to go at the end of August would bring the price down but Eve starts secondary school on 1st Sept (unless they decide to have teacher training days) and my hols, at the moment, are middle two Aug weeks :confused3

Eve would like to go in Dec, for her birthday, but that will mean working around a one week break ( I only work 3 days so we could fit a 10 day visit in) and taking her out of school........:headache:

Alternatively I could think of Feb 2011...........Again it'd be a 10 day visit.....

Both Dec and Feb will be cheaper than Aug but I'll probably book us a week away, in Aug, anyway so it all adds up ...........:upsidedow

Only just started thinking and have no-one, other than Eve, to bounce things off so any suggestions please? :grouphug:

We'll do it the DIY way and probably use some of our timeshare points for accommodation so it's mainly flights and car hire I'm thinking about :flower3:

Almost forgot to say - I was considering 4 or 5 days at the beach if we go in Aug......:goodvibes

Hi Alison
Its all down to budget, how much you are willing to pay for August flights, for our dates indirect can't see much under £800, I would not pay that myself for an economy seat.
Just keep your eyes open for a flight price you are happy with, for 2 weeks also look at charter, Thomas Cook usually have some a little cheaper than scheduled.
Good luck.

Thanks Wayne :thumbsup2

I've been doing lots of searching this evening and the cheapest flights I've managed to find have been approx £1200 (Thomas Cook) for Eve and myself in August....Not too good but a damn site better than the £2048 Virgin Atlantic wanted ;)

Eve's desperate to go for her birthday in Dec so I'm having a serious think - flights with Virgin, for both of us, using our airmiles, £765......... :rolleyes1

Thanks again :flower3:

Hi Alison
I am assuming you are doing this DIY. Have you done a quote with Thomas Cook for a package? Usually packages work out more expensive, but for some reason TC Signature often comes out a little ahead. I used them last year and departing Manchester on the Easter weekend and it was cheaper than any of the other options I looked at. It may be a waste of time, but it is sometimes worth a look. I did a package this year with Disney UK and at one point almost cancelled and forfeited my £270 deposit. Glad I didnt as with flight prices as they are currently, my package deal is looking like a bit of a bargain :goodvibes

DIY is foremost in my mind but I'm happy to consider anything ;)

Thanks for that - I'll have a look when I get home from work.
In the meantime I'm going to request the second week in Dec off just in case :flower3:

Hi there, not sure if this helps or not but I booked a 2 week trip for me and my girlfriend for the last 2 weeks of august 15th to the 29th because she is a teacher.

We booked with Thomson and they used Jetsave which is thier specialist group. We got our flights (to Sanford not Orlando International - not much difference but cheaper) 14 day park tickets to Disney and Universal and accomodation all for £2300 which we thought was a great deal!

Like I say I dont know if this helps but.....!

Thanks Dan :goodvibes

We've used Jetsave before and they were great:thumbsup2
Just done a speedy quote and it came up with £2900 for flights and accommodation 5th - 19th Aug - for 1 adult and an 11 year old that grates:scared1:

By the time we've added tickets I'd rather not think about the cost :rotfl:

I know that to go later in the hols would be cheaper but I'm a nurse and can only take the middle two weeks :sad2:

Anyway, thanks everyone for your help.....I'm tending to vere towards taking Eve for her birthday in Dec as things stand :lovestruc
