Uhm, er - slight thread hijack
What if say a friend, that thought they were a blue status on Loews, ah, called to inquire about staying a couple of days this coming year, and the booking agent informed them that they were uh, platinum. Lets say this friend was confused, as they did do a very big stay at the hardrock with a couple of rooms concierge-- and wondered if they made platinum from this stay.
What if the booking agent then booked you a Portofino 1 bedroom suite for the price of 179 a night (APH Garden View rate)

. And, said booking agent sent a confirmation email detailing this room and rate, even after the friend stated a couple of times being shocked at being platinum, and asking said agent if they were sure.
And, uhm, the friend, after doing the big happy jig, decided to look up the new loews criteria, and then realizes that Hard Rock certainly does not qualify, and there is no way they could be platinum. And then they look on the loews site, and see that they are indeed blue.
Anyone have any experience with this? I have wisely informed my friend NOT to tell the kids, as the room upgrade may not happen - as they were obviously 'blue'. I also uh, advised to bring a printed copy of the email to the hotel though.... but I was wondering, how did this happen, and has it happened to anyone else - and what was the result. Do you think they would honor the room upgrade anyway? How could the phone agent be wrong? especially as they were asked to double check the loews status, because, ah, my friend was confused by being platinum?
Slinking off, and hoping for some replies on this....
BTW, I tacked this question on to this thread because someone was asking about suite upgrades with aph's -- and it certainly appeared as if this TM could do it -- a garden room aph rate upgraded to a one bedroom....
