**2010** Epcot Food & Wine Festival ENDED 11/14. 2011 FESTIVAL 9/30-11/13

October 15-23rd!

Our First Food and Wine Festival!!!!! :woohoo:

I am soooooo excited!

As of now, we only have 1 day planned -- then one night at MNSSHP and one full day at MK -- I may have to find another day at Epcot -- It has become one of my favorites! :cheer2:

only one day for F&WF.... That will be tough,
IMO... 2 days is the last you can get away with.. Half of the showcase each day.:thumbsup2

We will be at F&W Oct. 3-10. This is our first experience with F&W. A question - at the food booths can you charge purchases to your room or do you have to have cash for everything? I envision us doing a lot of "grazing" during the week. Do I need to carry a wad of cash?

Amended - just saw a previous post that they take credit cards and gift cards. But question stands - do they allow room charges?

People gave you the right answer on this, but I wanted to add my own warning to carry a bit of cash around anyway. Why? Sometimes the connections to the card reader terminals act wonky, and the kiosk will only accept cash when it happens. This doesn't happen very often, but when it does, it's good to have cash as backup.

for some reason I thought that there was a dessert one last year?:confused3
Thanks for the info

You're probably thinking of the Sweet Sundays events they've had for a while now. That's a buffet brunch followed by a dessert demo with three desserts you get to try, along with the recipes for the desserts. And it's aptly named because these events are scheduled on Sundays.

The dessert event new to this year is a fireworks viewing dessert event during Illuminations, with Thursday (or Friday, depending on conflicting sources) being the nights this event is offered during the festival. This is a brand new event, so nobody really knows what it will entail until the first brave souls who buy the event report back here.

Thank you!!!! I may have to add an extra day then -- It's just that my 10 year old will be with us -- I would love to spend the entire week there -- I will have to see what I can do! Thank you!!!!! :goodvibes

You may have to pick the few that you want to do, if you can't have the extra day, for us it was two grown adults sharing the plates and we were so full and tired half way around.

I know you will have a great time no matter what.

Looks like Biltmore Wines will be back for one week of demos, etc. ... from the Biltmore Wine site

Epcot International Food & Wine Festival
November 1–7
Orlando, FL
The Epcot International Food & Wine Festival is an autumn special event that transforms Epcot Theme Park into a food and wine lover's paradise. Biltmore Winemaker Sharon Fenchak will be hosting tastings, seminars, and signing bottles.

My DH and I toured their winery and loved the wines they have there. Too bad I will not be there during their stay. Hopefully their wines will be there the whole time. Wonder how I find out?

You all are there at least part of the time we are, Chelsi... so I don't think you are missing the F&W dates. :goodvibes

Missing on what dates? I know we overlap close to when I arrive.

I may have a couple bucks left over on a card. Are you clairvoyant or something?

Elin and Lori! What I poorly tried to write (I am sure wine was involved:rotfl2:)
was that we would be missing Food and Wine Dates with Lori. I think our times don't cross!? I have not yet learned the rule "don't drink and type"!!!:lmao:

Bye the way - we have it down on our calendar that we received the Food and Wine Festival special event info on June 25th last year!!! Could it really be just a week away?????

We first received the info last year via an Examiner article - not through Disney. Disney didn't release till July 22. Fortunately most of the Examiner info turned out to be correct except for a couple of schedule changes.

if they release anything next week it's not getting into the first post for awhile as I won't be around to put it there.

Let's hope that we get info next week. That would be sweet, indeed!

Especially when you just have to have a glass of wine. Right Lori? pirate:

Wow! I've read every post and am so excited! We will be there from Oct. 1 - Oct. 22nd. ( we call it Fall Birding or Wine Festing). The first weekend won't involve the festival, as I'm doing the 1/2 Marathon Saturday night, but after that, let the party start. :goodvibes

I'm soooo looking forward to the list of events this year to see what's new, what's the same....and start my planning.

I arrive October 9, so we better make it a good day. I believe you leave the next day. And I hope the Examiner gives us another sneak peek!

Especially when you just have to have a glass of wine. Right Lori? pirate:

Only when your wife and I can sneak away without anyone else noticing we're gone. :rolleyes1 Actually, when it's hot out, I tend to stay away from the wine tasting at the kiosks. I'm usually all about the food and hydration. I tend to book wine pairing meal events to do the wine thing.

I hope we end up booking the same events again, Sharon. I have a heckuva good time with you and Mike.

We usually hit the Sam Adams booth first for a cold Cherry Wheat or Festival Beer. Than we start sampling the food... Japan, France, Canada, Mexico, Poland............ I'm getting hungry. We will be there Oct 4 - 11. We get off the plane, take DME to the resort and hop a bus right to F&W.
