Did a search and didn't find any similar post, so I thought I'd start one.

The DVC Condo Association meeting is currently listed for Dec 9, 2010. About a month ago, the news on DVC Member site had an RSVP link, and stated the meeting would be at the CR Convention Center, mid afternoon. That link has since been removed, and as I hadn't yet confirmed my DVC resort, I didn't RSVP.

DW and I as new DVC members are still planning on attending, as we will be at SSR with family (unless our BWV waitlist comes through), and the 9th is our last day, perfect end to a trip and the start of our drive home.

Questions:

1. Is the Condo Meeting worth attending?

2. Has anyone else attended, and what are your impressions?

3. Anyone else planning on attending?

4. Why do I always trade my car in right after I put new tires on it?? :sad2:

We'll that's about it - let the posts begin.

We've attended several times. I had hoped to do so again this year, but it looks like it's going to be too late for us, since we go home on Dec. 8. It's very "canned" and scripted, but you do learn little tidbits that you don't get to learn elsewhere. You also get to ask questions, but the responses are pretty canned too.

I went to the first Condo meeting I could after we became members. I'm really glad I did, because I got to meet some other members (Hi, ChuckS:wave2:) However, I figured out after a couple meetings that other than for that reason, and meeting CMs at different resorts (it seems that one year they had a whole big group of CMs from OKW, for instance), nothing's going to be accomplished by the members at the meetings. However, sometimes they do "scoop" something-I remember that one year they let us know there first about the OKW pool slide, and another year we found out there first about the upcoming free internet. It was kinda fun to be the first to know, but after a few years, the novelty wore off for me, and I haven't gone in about 3 years. I don't plan to go this year either.

I don't think that attending is worth it, it's a scripted dog and pony show. If Disney didn't have to have the meeting legally, I am sure that there wouldn't be one.

After attending last year I was further convinced that Disney doesn't really care about the DVC owners.

The question and answer session was held at the end of the meeting and of course they ran out of time because someone else needed the space. (with DVC it's always someone else that causes the problem) For the few questions that were allowed to be publicly asked, critical questions were quickly dismissed.

They did allow some questions outside the hall but when talking to Jim Lewis and other Managers, you could tell that their thoughts were elsewhere and that it was a show.

I was told that they were very interested in my questions and comments, blah, blah, blah, and that I would be contacted in a few days. Two different Managers took my contact info and guess what, I haven't been contacted by anyone. I contacted MS a couple of months ago and they told me that they would forward my concerns to Jim Lewis's office but again no follow up. :sad2:
