Hi all,

I have just posted the breakdown of the corrals & corrals/waves for the WDW Marathon and Half Marathon on my website at http://disneyrunning.com/09fullchutes.html

Robert, if you buy that VIP package do they have someone hold an umbrella over you in the corral if it's raining or do you have to get wet with the peasents.:)

Seriously thanks for the info.

Dave: The fine print allows you to stay in the RR tent until the race starts and than you just start running from there. You bypass all the corrals and waiting :)

Then we should be able to start from the Boardwalk Villas. We could just all merge at Epcot. Get that dude on the phone that handles that and lets get it done. If not, well we haven't started a rumor for a while.

Dave: you just run from the tents into EPCOT and start the course there. You just trim a mile or so and beat the crowds. I heard from my insider at Disney that the Goo Goo Dolls will be at mile 20(where the out and back starts by WWoS). They wanted to kick it up a notch this year with all of the extra money they charged us:thumbsup2

Please understand that I am totally niave and a novice at this kind of an event. I have only done 1 5k race and decided (actually, talked into) doing the 5k and the Half. But I have to ask a question. I looked at the numbers and the way it breaks down and that is all good but are there really going to be 15,000 people doing the half and 20,000 doing the full or do they skip some numbers? That's just scary!!!

There are 17,500 doing the 1/2 and 22,000 doing the Full. Marathon goes from 0 and up. The 1/2 goes from 30,000 and up.

ULTRAMICKEYMOUSE,

Thank you soooo much for this information! I have never been at a race over a couple of thousand so have no experience with corals and waves.

I have a couple of questions for you.

I am going Goofy. I am running the half by myself.

I have two friends running with me for the full. Although we have very different paces, and will not run the majority of the race together, I would love to hang out in the coral together and run the first couple of miles with them.

Here's the dilema - two of us are in red coral D - one is in the last coral Red H. I understand that we can drop back to her coral, but she cannot move up to ours. When we first signed up, we were told that we would only be a coral or two apart. This is obviously not the case.

I am running Goofy to have a great time, first and fore most, but I DO want to FINISH! I am worried about it. What will happen if I drop back to the last coral. Will it add a ton of waiting on time? Will I spend a lot of time dodging people to catch up with my pace group? (I am hoping to finish under 5 hours). I know that it's a different race, and I do want to relax and enjoy the race and my friends, but I don't want to sabotage myself either. I am afraid that I will already be worn out from running the half and getting up so early two nights in a row.

I just don't know what to do because I would really, really, like to hang out with my buds!

I would appreciate any insight or opinions!

Good luck with your race and thanks again for the heads up!

I hate to say this but unless you want to run through at least 7000+ runners, you should stay in the D corral. You will lose some time running through everyone in front of you. You might pick up the pace and go faster to try to make up time. The plus is you can say you can say you passed 10,000 people. You will have plenty of time to chat and hang out in the Family Reunion area before the race. That's what we do and everyone than goes there own way.

Good luck on the Goofy!

Thanks Robert! Knowing I have a Corral or two behind helps me to feel a little better about having time to stop and take a few pics without getting swept!

Thanks Ultra. So, you can hang out in the reunion area and then go to the corals? How long before the race to you go to the corals?

Also, how long does it take to get everyone to the start line?

Thanks for all of the info. It's nice to know what to expect!

Everyone usually is in the area by 4:00 am. They try to get people heading to there waves/corrals about 5:00. It is about a half mile walk. The Half Marathon start has been moved back to where the Marathons is. I usually head out around 5:15. Get to corrals by 5:30 and just sit on the ground stretching/resting.

I am somewhat intimidated about the fact that there are 17,500 runners in the Half. That is 2 times the population in the City that I live in.

Obviously, I have never done a race to this magnitude. Are there ever any instances of people accidently tripping over others due to the pure size of the crowds? I mean, most of us train by ourselves so I could see it happening. I don't want it too but it could.

Are there any other tips you can give to a complete novice?

Thanks Robert!

I am not Robert, but my boyfriend is currently recoving from an injury suffered at the Marine Corp due to something just like this. Traffic jam at a turn and down several of them went.

I generally try to leave some space and if I am going to pass to "plan it" Hang back a little while until there is room. Don't force your way inbetween folks to get ahead... And remember at the start, it's kind of a fast walk with all those folks, takes a while to get something that large moving if you aren't in the very front LOL!

That's why I am wearing my knee brace from my surgeon both races. I don' train in it but don't won't to blow out a knee that was surgicaly repaired twice this year since Dopey in Jan.

Better safe than sorry with 17+K or 22+K runners!

Just try to imagine that many Aubies trying to get out of Tuscaloosa after the 3rd quarter. You'll be fine!!!! Roll Tide:rotfl2:

We have missed you over on the Triple D site but that is a vivid analogy that I can understand. I have been to 2 AL vs AUB games (both at Legion Field) and Bama won both of them. (Gene Stallings was the coach.) But that is a great picture to have.

Thanks!
