2009 Swap Calendar

Do you think we should add a newbie swap? We didn't have any last year (I think). I know that as a group, we are very welcoming to newcomers and that there are no restrictions on the swaps. However, I remember being a lurker on the swap boards and it was the safety aspect of the newbie swap that pulled me in.

On the other hand, the calendar looks pretty full and fun! Lots of swaps to sign up for.

What about adding a newbie group to one of yours?

I certainly don't mind adding a section for newbies to one of my swaps, but I guess I don't think they have to be segregated. As a lurker, it was the lure of the NEWBIE SIGN UPS title that pulled me in -- it was less intimidating.
I don't really want to host a newbie swap, just wanted to see what you all thought. The calendar is nicely full and we have had new people join in successfully, so there is nothing wrong with our current way of doing things.

(unless othewise noted)...and... we have simplified things (IN MY OPINION)...anyway, I just jumped in...and prayed I did a good job... It worked out...

I would be willing to do a general Disney World nebie swap if we felt we need it. I could either do it in the spring (although it is in the midst of all the park swaps) or in the fall. I ws thinking for this one a group for each park and each person would choose an attraction/area from the park.

If we think we need the newbie swap, I like your idea Rebecca. Very general disney is the way to go.

The park swaps are bunched together -- March MK, April Epcot, June AK,July DHS. I can move Magic Kingdom swap to either January or October, or leave it alone. Last year it was in March. Any thoughts on this? I think I like January.

They are kind of bunched and I wouldn't mind January, I think we can squeeze one more in. I don't know if MT can change her July to October or not though.

Ok Ladies, Im going to talk now. After reading the past couple of posts I would like to share some thoughts and feelings, so bare with me if I ramble.

I found this thread after I lost my neice to cancer. It was one of the best things I did for myself was to get involved with this.
The first swap I did was the "Tags and Toppers", which I do not know if it had already been planned but that AWM told me I could join and that it would be a good one for "newbies". I am still convinced, whether true or not, that Ann threw it together for me.
Where is this going? As a "newbie" this year I think that to get some of us "lurkers" off the fence it is a GREAT idea to have one for us so that we are not, and I mean this in the best way, intimidated by the BEAUTIFUL work you "Seniors" do! You can ask Ann how many times I asked her if it was good enough, if any of you would want what I did and even at the end of that swap I still add ed a tag!
So I dont think its segregation, I think it would actually help to get some of us more comfortable.
I had kind of played around with the thought of hostessinf the DL/DCA swap but Hope is doing that. I want to learn and if Rebecca is willing to teach, then I am willing to host. You all let me know what works best in figuring out the callendar, give me a couple of dates and we will see what works best.

I cannot believe the logistics of what you all are going thru right now to set the callendar!

1. Can we push the color swap to March then? Just use the same dates as MK -- sign up 3/2 due 4/23.

2. Magic Kingdom Dates -- Jan 1, Jan 2 (due Feb 19) or Jan 13 (due Mar5) -- will any of them work?


kits, elements, pages -- don't know. Last time it was kind of 1 1/2 elements. Anyone have an opinion? I guess I could post an interest thread.

I will definitely include elements in some way. I have really been loving the completed pages, so if theree is interest I am game for it.

Y'all don't even know how lucky I feel that after 2 years of being away, I come back and these swaps are going stronger than ever. And y'all have taken me back with open arms as if I've never gone. And although the swaps have changed somewhat from what I remember, everyone has been so kind in answering my silly questions.
So, thanks for all the hard work you do in organizing all the mess so that everyone can sign up and enjoy these swaps.

I just realized I was supposed to chime in with dates for the CP swaps. How about:

Disney: Sign-ups 2/27, Due 5/1 - 2 months
Holiday/Seasons: Sign-ups 7/17, Due 10/2 - 2.5 months

Do those look OK?

I was also tossing around the idea of another pet swap if there is interest. I know I need more stuff for the puppy for sure and could use some kitty stuff too. Let me know!
