Can anyone tell me your pros & cons of owning a Honda Fit? We are very close to purchasing one but would love to hear some feedback!
Thanks!

A friend of mine who drives about 75 minutes each way to work has a Honda Fit. She loves it, she and her husband are both petite and they are very comfortable in the car.

I have a 2008 Fit. I drive 80 miles a day for my commute to work and it sips the gas! It handles really well and is fun to drive. I used to weigh 140lbs. more then I do now and there is no way I could have driven this car at that weight. I am tall and so is my hubby, and it fits well it that sense...but I would not want to drive it if I weighed more...it just wouldn't be comfortable.

You're kids are about the same age as mine. Are they fairly comfortable in the back? It seems to have a lot of room.
We have a van- so most of the time this will just be my hubby's commuter car, but occasionally we will all pile in.
Also... do the automatic door locks bug you?? When we test drove it- it annoyed me that you had to "manually" unlock your door before getting out!

My kids have plenty of room! We have a Honda Pilot, Fit and an Accord and we usually take the Fit to go visit the in-laws (hour and a half away) because the gas mileage...the kids love the Fit and have never commented on having less room or being uncomfortable. What I was surprised about was the space in the back. I thought I would always have to take one of the other cars grocery shopping, but I don't have to. I have fit over $300 bucks worth of groceries back there and that is including cases of water and soda.

Now about your question regarding the automatic locks.... my Fit does not do that. That must be new in the 2009. BUT, my Accord does automatically lock all the doors once you turn the key and it has never bothered us...you just get used to it.

My sister has a 2008 and loves it. She has looked at the 2009 and loved it more but has decided to wait on adding another to their home. She has 3 kids still at home (17, 15, and 13). She has been very pleased with her FIT. She also has an older Honda Odessey van and has enjoyed it.

My nephew also has a FIT (DH's nephew) and he loves his. We're looking into one when the time comes.

I wanted a Fit because of cargo space for an small car but:

Highway mileage was supposed to higher for Civic than for Fit even though City milage higher for Fit. Gearing?

Backseat passenger safety score higher for civic than Fit. DH guilt tripped about Kid's safety.

We have 2 Honda Civics, sometimes still wish one of us had got the Fit.

I have a 2007 Fit and I LOVE it. Seriously. So much.

Last week I got 34 miles to the gallon. I drive about 60mi per day, it costs me $14 to fill up, it has airbags everywhere, it's supercute, drives like a race car, and it's affordable.

I originally wanted the Civic but then I drove the Fit and fell in love. :lovestruc

EDIT: I'm 5'8" and 140lbs. My DFiance is 6'0" and 185lbs. AND-- my dad is 6'2" and about 275lbs.. everyone fits perfectly (well, at least in the front passenger seat-- no one really rides in the back, although it's pretty roomy too!).

Also, forgot to mention that I love what the seats do.. I can fit almost anything in my car if I make the back seat go down. It's fantastic!

We looked at the Fit and thought that it was a really cute car...

BUT

In our area, it was more expensive than the Civic, and the Civic got better mpg than the Fit.

So we ended up with the Civic- and we love it!

The Honda dealer literally refused to sell us one. DH is 6'6 and DS is 6'5, and their knees touched the dash. We ended up with a PT Cruiser, which they do fit in. (They rarely ride in it; it's my car and if we all go together we take DH's Odyssey or DS's Crown Vic, but I wanted something they could fit into in a pinch.)
