OK, the rates are out on the Disney site for DLR 2009 packages. The biggest goodie is adult park hoppers at kid prices for part of the time. We are going January 10, so get that.
The rate for us for GCH, 3 nights, 4 day park hoppers for 2 adults is 1526.00 all taxes and resort fee included. Not bad, but they did not have any options for room view upgrades. We are going with friends for a few days before our ABD Backstage Magic, so wanted to splurge on theme park view, so this was out.
Calling, using AAA for room reservation, and adding on the park hoppers at the kids price rate came out to about 1,740, including tax, but not resort fee which is about $40.00 for 3 nights. The rate for a AAA package came out quite a bit higher. So, once again, it is cheaper to just book room separately using AAA then they will add the tickets at on line rate. The only thing you miss out on is the extras (coupon book, lanyard, etc). You don't need to worry about EE since at this time if you are an on site hotel guest you automatically get EE anyway.

Thanks, this is great info.

I've been reading some good things on the disboards about Getaway Today. Did you price out the package with GAT? Has anyone out there done comparisons on packages through Disney vs. GAT?

I did this last year and pricing separately still beat Getaway Today, but if they offered any specials, like gift cards, then they were better because it was pretty close. The problem I had with them this time is that thier packages won't be available until late Sept or Oct and I wanted to make sure a park view room would be available so just went ahead and booked.

The biggest advantage of using GAT is for the extra MM, 2 instead of just one with your 3-day or more parkhoppers. But if you're staying onsite, you don't need that, since onsite hotel guests get to take advantage of every MM, anyway. It doesn't say this on the website, but it's an unwritten rule (subject to change, of course).

Could it be that the AAA rate was higher because you got the premium view room instead of standard? I'm not sure how much extra they charge for that.

ETA: I think I may have misunderstood your post. I now think you're saying that if you use AAA, it's cheaper to book separately than to book a "package." I found that to be true, as well.

Yes..that was what I meant. I don't think I stated things very well. I wanted the park view and the package didn't have that option. I did this same thing last year and found AAA booking seperately beat all other options including the AAA package rate.
So..it pays to take a little time, just call the hotel you want and book like any other trip.

I wanted the Disneyland Hotel for January, but they're only listing suites, no rooms. I don't understand how this is possible since I couldn't book for January until prices came out...I don't understand how regular rooms could be all gone????

Call the hotel direct and try that way.
