I was at the St. George Marathon expo yesterday and was at the Disneyland 1/2 display booth. I picked up a $15 off coupon valid through 12/31/08. Here is the code "RunDLRstg09".

Registration is not yet up as of today, so keep checking back.

Sweet! Thanks, Jeff!

No need to thank me. luvrunner provided the info on another board, and all I did was post it here.

Imagine, if everyone uses the $15 discount, well, Disney still makes a fortune off of us!

Thanks lvrunner and Jeff for sharing this!

Thanks for sharing the code with us Jeff! Do you know if there's going to be a bonus medal again this year :)

Yes, the Coast to Coast medal returns in 2009. I spoke to the Disney Endurance Cast Member at the Disneyland Half expo, who confirmed it will be back again.

This topic is also discussed on Disneyrunning.com forum. Other members there also confirmed the medal returning.

Think about it, all the money Disney makes off us running nuts, simply by offering a medal that costs them maybe $5.00 to manufacture.

Note the dangle on all the Disney medals. They mass order medals in bulk, and simply replace the lanyard and the dangle year on the left over medals.

Oh Jeff... I didn't need to see the picture of the medal. Now I think I'll have to get a second job to pay for race fees and travel! Realistically, I'll probably have to decide between DL and the Princess 1/2. I don't think I can do (afford) both :(

Vicky,

Just some suggestions...

Start a "Disney" account at your bank. Put $5 or $10 away a paycheck. Put all your loose change in a jar when you walk in the door each night.

Forgo that Starbucks, candy bar, or whatever your weakness is.

Get a credit card linked to an airline, and charge everything. Just be sure to pay it off every month in full. Rack up the frequent flier miles for a free ticket.

Ask family or friends to give a airline travel gift card (available online, or at Safeway), instead of a actual birthday or Christmas gift.

You can always write a post looking for a roommate to share a economy hotel. Several people were solo during the Disneyland Half Marathon.

Have a garage sale, or Ebay stuff you no longer need.

And lastly, enter any travel sweepstakes you see. They're out there for free airline, free hotel, free ground transportation.

Hopefully one of these ideas works for you.

Went ahead and bit the bullet and registered to save the $15. I should note though, it's possible I'll be deployed, but that's a risk I'm willing to take. Besides which if I am I'll just run 13.1 wherever I am, and recruit someone like Jeff to do what he may or may not have done this year for someone else. :rolleyes1

Matty,

If you're deployed and aren't there, I'll gladly wear your chip for a time, and jump back in for your medal.

I've done this a Honolulu, and the Disneyland Half. No worries bruddah, I got you covered. :thumbsup2

The WISH team appreciates you serving our country!

Thanks for the suggestions Jeff! I do a couple of those already. Part of travelling is the cost the airfare - I booked a reward ticket for January which would have cost me $880. Geez, you'd think I was flying overseas for that price. I'm thinking of driving down to WDW for the Princess 1/2 ... The other part is that I feel funny spending money on three vacations when the economy seems so unstable.

My birthday just passed and everyone gave me winter running stuff! Not quite sure how I feel about running in cold weather and snow yet :goodvibes

Just registered! This will be my first DL half marathon. I had wanted to sign up for the 2008, but didn't have time to properly train. Now, I've been running for several months and will do my first half marathon in February 2009 at Huntington Beach. So I'm hopeful that I'll be ready in Sept for DL!

Thanks for sharing the discount code. :thumbsup2

I was just looking at the Disney site and noticed that proof of time for the Disneyland Half must be from a race 10 miles or longer. Has that always been the case? I'm just curious as I thought for the Disney World Half it was a 10k or longer.
