2009 Discussion-We'll make time fly by!

Only a few more days until we can all say we are going to WDW next year!!!!

I know, I'm so excited :cool1: ! I think we might try July or August for this trip. We went this past June and while that was great, it kinda made the rest of the summer boring. What can compare to Disney? I've been to Florida in Aug before so I know how hot it can be. My kids will be 14 & 11 by then. Well past the age of crying that it's too hot, I hope :scared1: . I might even consider letting them go around by themselves. But only in the same park, not a different one.

So now that Christmas is over, I can get back on track with my plans. I'll still let the kids decide where to stay, but I'll have the final say.

Heres to planning pixiedust: .

P.S. JJ&JSMOM, we never got any snow that weekend. Christmas was warm and green :sad2: .

Hi all - glad to read some DHs are getting into the Disney mood. My DH leaves things up to me - I do ask him what he prefers of course but then I make the final decisions. Last night I researched the Boardwalk Inn - looks great and lots of fun -love the theming seems carnival like & fun. He says "why don't we just stay where we did before?" which was the Poly. I guess he really liked the Poly - he never really said that much about it. He didn't like the dark decor of the rooms but he liked all that came w/the Poly - Ohanas, Kona Cafe, monorail, volcano pool, beach fireworks, etc. So maybe we'll just stay there - I'd like to try somewhere new though. Wheres everybody else thinking of staying?

POOHLUV69: No snow just quite a rain storm went through & washed away a lot of our snow. The kids' fort was demolished by the rain - they were not happy. We still have some snow left but grass is sticking up all over the place. Christmas was a warm day - we did get some snow today but just a dusting.

Mrs Grumpy: Great thought - we'll be able to say next year very very soon:cool1:.

Take care all and Happy New Year.
Joanne

What I'm excited about is that we discussed it. No rolling eyes, no "whatever", no "do what you want".

:dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

Isn't it great!!! My DH is still talking positively about it, so I'm thrilled. I've been super-busy this week, but after New Year's I'm going to sit down with a 2009 calendar and look at Disney's info fro 2008 and decide for sure on a week.

Must be something in the air or water. DH talks to anyone who will listen about our last trip and our next. Fine by me :goodvibes . I was on the attractions page yesterday and I did see a rumor about SM going down for rehab sometime in '08 and being down for a year. It might not open again til spring of '09. Something to keep in mind. SM is one of ds's favs.

We are booked on the Disney Magic for seven nights in March 2009 but I think we will head down a few days early and hit the parks a bit.

I have accumulated enough points travelling for work that I have earned a few of nights at a Holiday Inn, so we may not stay on site, but it will still be fun. :wizard:

Thats great! I haven't stayed off site before but my sister has a timeshare that they stay in everytime they go to Disney and the love it. They always have a great time.

Is SM Space Mountain or Splash Mountain? Hoping Space, as DD probably won't be tall enough anyway. DS would be, though, and would enjoy it. I'd be REALLY bummed if Splash was down, that was one of DS's faves, and in '09 all four of us could go together. We'll be late spring, though, so whichever it is, it may be open by that time.

I heard Space Mountain, but whoever knows for sure. I'll just keep looking for info and wait and see. Haunted Mansion was closed when we there in June, so I would hate for Space to be closed while we are there. My kids both loved Splash and with fast pass, the line moves quick.

OH I hope it's Space, we loved Splash and last March there was such a short line that we rode it 6 times in a row!! Hope we can do that again.

I have decided that I can "officially" get excited and start planning our trip at a year out. So I casually mention at work that in three months I can start really planning my trip. :cool1: :cool1:
Who knew that my coworkers are tired of hearing of my 2009 trip already (and I haven't started planning yet):confused3 :confused3

I think we are going to try for Aug. in 2009, so that only gives me 8 more months until I can book :cool1: . I love Space and Splash, but we rode Splash more times.

Can I join in on the fun. In addition to my two Disney 08 trips (we leave in 2 weeks for WDW and then we are off to Paris and DLP in September), I just today booked our Jan 09 DCL cruise and will be booking rooms in Feb when our 11 month window opens to book our DVC resorts.

For our Jan 09 trip, it will be DH and I, DS31/wife, DS28/wife, DS26/girlfriend and two grandchildren. Plus DH's ex-wife and her DH will be joining us. We are taking a 3 day cruise so will probably stay at WDW for 7-10 days along with that. DH and I "treat" all of the kids/spouses to a WDW trip every other year and everyone is already looking forward to it even though we are a year out.

HI hoping to go to wildneress lodge or may cabins, if the price is right with ddp also,
loved it so much in may and cant wait!
how many days in advance can you book?

I told my husband the same thing at the stroke of midnight :dance3: .
I'm getting excited already thinking about all the planning I can start doing :) .

Yayyyy!!! Next year!!

The kids were so excited to go to my Mom's today and tell her "We're going to Disney World Next Year!!" She didn't even know we were planning to go again, they were thrilled to tell her.

DH and I need to talk some more, but soon we'll be presenting the idea to our families that anyone who wants to is welcome to join us. I really think my parents would probably be the only ones. Everyone else would probably want to debate times/places to stay, ways to cut costs, etc. I'm totally open to planning a group trip sometime in the future, maybe getting a house, etc, and doing group planning. But 2009 is OUR trip, we're going when it's good for us, doing what we want, etc. Anyone wants to tag along, great, if not, that's fine by us too.

Add our family to the June 2009 list:goodvibes Hopefully reaching our goal to stay at a deluxe (WL:thumbsup2 )

How cute - they must be so excited. I know today is the first day of 2008 and I'm off to a good start. I've been researching restaurants around the Epcot area. Not sure where we'll stay - Epcot area is so intriguing to me but we'll see. They have some great looking vacation rentals at www.allstarvacationhomes.com (not sure I can put that on here or not if no - Sorry!). DH really wants to stay offsite and get more for our money but we'll see. NOthing compares to living w/the mouse for a few days.

Happy New Year fellow 2009ers!

I definitely think it's better for everyone to do their own thing on these vacations. As I'd posted earlier, we treat our adult kids and their families to an annual WDW trip every January. After the first trip where I tried to plan everything together, I learned a painful lesson that the entire group has a better time if they are allowed to do their own thing. Now we just meet up once a day, usually for a meal, and that seems to make everyone happy.

Hi,

Can I join in the fun too? We're planning 10 nights in August 09 right before our 7 night DCL cruise. Probably looking at a split stay WL/BWI but we cant decide,DH and I cant agree and keep changing our minds. Lucky we have a little time before we can book:laughing: ..Either that or possible AKL/BWI , 5 nights at each. Or just stay at WL for the whole 10 nights... See, we just cant decide. I am so confused...:upsidedow
This will be our families' "once in a lifetime" trip because of the distance we are travelling, although from reading on the boards here I can see a lot of people say that and end up coming back for more!!
Mel

We went 12/8 - 12/15, so I've only been back for three weeks, but I'm already planning for 2009. DH hasn't agreed yet - he's Mickey'd out and doesn't want to even talk about it. I'm thinking week after Thanksgiving - so our dates would be 11/28 - 12/5. We stayed at AKL and I would love to stay there again, but I need to luck into a big discount to do it. Otherwise, it's POP for us, which will be fine. Looking forward to the planning!! :surfweb:
