2008 rates...ouch......

It is 95F/ 60% humidity here in Houston. This translates into 115F on the shop floor.

Yikes.

Fortunately, the new rates don't bite me as badly as it might others. The only time I stay at the Fort is Value or Pre-Holiday on a partial hookup site. And with 20% AAA discount it is still quite reasonable :-)

Our December rate is $108/night including tax...that is December of '07! We tried last June when we bought our Airstream to get a site in Dec. '07, but they were booked solid. The Kissimee KOA was $95/night. We stayed at the Swan instead. It's Disney or nothing for our family.

The only thing the KOA in Kissimmee has going for it is its' proximity to WDW. Other than that...it's on a busy highway (US192E), no security gates, no paved or very poorly paved sites, sites that are snuggled up next to each other, and otherwise, no personality. For $95/nite, I would stay at a Disney Value Resort before I would stay at the KOA.

Hmmmm $95/nite for a junky campground or $108/nite for FW. Ummm... no contest!! FW will win out for $13/nite more.(JMHO)

Don't forget, when you stay on property, you do not pay parking at any of the theme parks if you drive to them. That's $10/day savings in and of itself!

I look at it this way it is still cheaper than Cedar Point's campground. There it is $80/night for full-hookup and $60/night for electric only and no where near as nice. This is definately a no frills campground, you can't even ride bikes there. The camground is no where near as well maintained or as clean as the Fort.

The campground is booked most nights during the time Cedar Point is opened. So I have a feeling Disney could raise it's rates quite a bit before they start to feel the sting of people staying offsite,

Well, I went to the KOA site to look up the price of the Kissimmee location just to see and, after you add in the extra $5/nite per kid, it is way more than I am paying for FW.

I guess Disney isn't gouging us as much as we would like to believe ;)

Obviously, according to the other prices, Disney is actually a good deal!!

This thread just turned into good news and makes me feel better after all...lol!

My money gets saved for our trips south to the mouse house. In the 4 yrs we've owned our current RV its only been in 2 other campground besides FW. Hate the new pricing but gotta get my fix .

Several yrs ago we were members of a club that got group discounted tickets and reservations for Disney. It is now long gone but it was great to get into FW for $18 night over Christmas. It was called the Magic Kingdom Club.

Yea, we were a member of that as well, MKC was around for a long time. They actually got rid of it about 5-8 years ago, a lot of corporations used to buy them for their employees.

Still not really sure why they ever got rid of it, at one point I think it was replaced with something else but now there really isn't anything like it. Except there is the Disney Dining cards, those are great ;)

I was a member of the Magic Kingdom Club too! After that, it was called the Disney Club for a short while. Then they just got rid of it. :confused3

There used to be some pretty decent discounts at the Disney Store for MK Club, but that was when the Disney Store had some pretty decent merchandise, too.

It's a theme park. It's not a high end department store ;)

Although I find quite a bit of their stuff to be really nice, I've bought quite a few cool things from Disney. I also have found some of their stuff to be of poor quality, depends on what you're buying. As with most things, normally the more you pay the better the quality. Not always true, but it tends to be.

Overall though I really have no problem with Disney merchandise, what little of it I buy. I've gotten some great art from Disney, that is for sure! And we have a great margarita set we picked up in Epcot, constantly getting comments on that one.

I'm talking about the Disney Store, not any of the stores on property. You know, that store that Disney sold a couple of years ago to The Children's Place but somehow still has some control over.

I was talking to tellnotails comment about how Disney stuff looks like it was made in China, not your post :P Then again, maybe he meant the Disney Store, who knows, I don't have my DIS translation filter on today and my mind is still numb from yesterday. Is it Friday yet??? ;) lol

I've never had much use for any of the items in the Disney Store itself.

Anyways, has anyone actually booked a trip at Thanksgiving 2008 yet? I noticed that it said there were special rates at this time, does this mean it will be above the $100 a night holiday rate?

don't forget the ADDITIONAL (higher rates) for the following holidays

* MLK weekend Jan 18-20
* Presidents weekend Feb. 15-17
* 4 th of July weekend July 4-5
* and colsons favorite thanksgiving weekend Nov. 26-29

I don't know about the rest of us but my blue collar is turning red right about now :mad:

Here ya go........

That's not what I was asking, I was asking if there are additional rates ABOVE the $99 holiday rates, and if so, what they were. That isn't in your quote.

So if anyone has actually made a reservation at this time, please let me know what your rates were :)

Edit: Actually, any of the holiday times, not even just Thanksgiving. I'm wondering if the rate differs depending on the holiday.

$101 for the weekend each nite plus additional charges......ouch..:eek:
