I have seasonal tickets
I have booked a room with a 40% off code
If I want to buy the DDP, do I have to give up the 40% code?

Maybe you do, maybe you don't.

Since you're paying for the Dining Plan, that's not considered "stacking (combining) discounts".

On the other hand, if there are 40% discount package rooms designated as room-only, and 40% discount package rooms designated as dining plan available, and all the latter are booked, then you can't.

Note that it's not specific rooms, it'd be a predetermined number of rooms per night.

OOPs. It was early, I didn't see the word buy and thought you wanted free dining. I've seen that many people have been able to buy ddp with the 40 percent off. Some CM's tell you you cannot, but call back because many have.

OK, thanks. I just was doing the math and we will have my Mom with us, and if we do the DDP then she has to also, right? We will be season passholders and she will have a 4-day Play Pass, which isn't considered a regular ticket, so would it still work if I got her a 1-day ticket so she could buy the DDP? Or does everyone in the room have to be on the same "package"?

I have a question that I don't believe has been addressed.

I have booked a Disney Vacation for the timeframe of August 16th through August 26th. We are traveling with family and these dates are not flexible (I booked airline tickets already) because of commitments.

There are plenty of rumors about the dining plan and the dates than potentially are offered...some of the educated guesses place the dates after the time we are there and others are during our stay...none are guessing that it will start before we arrive.

My question - Let's say Disney offers the Dining plan but the dates start while we are already at WDW...can I get the discount plan added to my stay for those days or would I be out of luck altogether

I really am hoping that since Universal has offered a free dining plan starting on August 17 that Disney does the same. Currently I am booked at CSR with no discounts whatsoever. Hopefully I get something.

I'm trying to get up-to-speed on the 2008 Disney Dining program in anticipation of the annual free dining offer. I last did the dining plan in 2006, so my memory is "frozen in time."

It seems like two of the big revisions since then are the elimination of the appetizer and the fact that you now have to pay your own gratuities.

But the other big change (although I haven't seen discussion of it) is that adult and child credits are no longer "pooled" -- in other words, you will be given x number of adult credits and y number of child credits. Back in 2006, they were all comingled. For example, if you went to a quick service restaurant, you could stretch your credits by ordering 1 larger adult meal for 2 children if you felt so inclined. Or if a child wasn't hungry, you could not order a meal for them and an adult could use "their" credit later. Is my understanding of this change accurate?

One of the reasons I'm interested in this is that I have a child who will be just under 10. With free Disney Dining, this would seem to be one of those rare circumstances where I might be better saying the child was older so they could qualify for the free adult meals instead of the free child meals. This is particularly true if, as I read on mousesavers, that Disney's "new" kids meals often aren't very tasty or logical (like no pizza in the pizza joints!).

Well, they weren't. The computers just weren't programmed to separate them. Disney expected adults to use adult credits and children to use children credits. When that was abused, Disney had to take additional steps to prevent it.

CS are still lumped together, TS are separated.

To get free adult DDP during free dining, you have to buy adult tickets. You can't buy kid priced tickets for a 9yo and then get free adult dining for them.

I think you have to book DDP before you get to to WDW, but I'm not positive on that.

I doubt it.....the only time they have allowed a "trade" of one type of credit for another was when there were SOOOO many people there with the dining plan that they were unable to accomodate everyone in a sit down restaurant. And I believe the trade was 1 table service for 1 counterservice and a lanyard or something odd like that.

I dont know what they will do for the Deluxe Plan.....I just did the Deluxe plan and you have 3 meals a day....doesnt matter if they are table service or counter service so they May just want you to use up the credits on whatever is available as a restaurant. I have never read or heard that they allow you to use meal credits for snacks.....

So, when we go have a meal at our resort's food court, for example, when we check out the cashier will make sure we have purchased 2 kids' meals and 3 adult/regular meals, because somewhere there he/she is going to see the designation of credits on our plan.

Is that right?!

Yes, your card will say 3A/2C so you will not be able to buy more than 3 Adult meals or 2 Children's meals at one time.

You don't have to purchase the full amount each time. If your card states 3A 2C, you can purchase a lesser amount. For example, you can get 2A and 1C if not everyone is hungry or wants to eat right then or at that particular place. You just can't get MORE than what your card states at any one time - i.e., you can't purchase 3 kids meals at one time.

The package needs to be paid for ahead of time so you would get a one day ticket that she could keep for another trip and since the dining is free and they require all people to be a check-in the dining credits would be taken away once they see she is not there.

You made me think of something else. We'll be arriving around 2pm by ME and checking in at that time. Our FL friend wouldn't be driving in until after work, so probably around 8 or 9pm. Will we have to wait until she gets there to check in, so we would be checking in together?
